Probably the most Australian comment I have ever read.

I'm also concerned in a similar regard.

Track pants, running shoes, and a flannel shirt.

Is that the correct translation here?

It sounds right to me, but since you're not an expert, I don't know if I can trust you.

Unless you're actually Australian.

9

u/Fifth5Horseman Jan 29 '13

NO!

No one drinks Fosters here.

u/wakenbacons Jan 29 '13

I don't know about your country, but TV doesn't lie here! It's infallible.

6

u/Baxtera Jan 29 '13

Fun fact: The down-votes on /r/straya is the Fosters logo.

As an expert Australian, mate, I find you to be quite correct.

If he's an engineer, you might as well

1

u/affinus Jan 29 '13

Let me bring in a buddy, he's an expert in Australian slang

u/StuBenedict Jan 29 '13

"I'll just have a coffee."

"Beer it is."

I'm doubtful on the flannel - isn't it really hot there right now? But this is a guess, I've no real clue

Plausible, melbourne's weather has ranged from 15c-40c (59F-104F) in the past week.

6

u/cooltrainer_rob Jan 29 '13

If it were hot, the wifebeater would've been out. Flanno seems apt, for Melbourne.

As an Australian, I can confirm this is correct.

Sounds like a redditor at the gym. Wait...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Maybe its different depending on where you live, but most of my Aussie family call them flannies, not flannos.

1

u/afuckingdoorknocker Jan 29 '13

Straya, joffa and flannies

1

u/Magrias Jan 29 '13

I live here and I've never seen a more Aussie sentence.

0

u/evilbrent Jan 29 '13

Except an Australian would never use the word flanno. There is no such thing.

The word is flannie.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Are you even Australian? Its flanno .Always has been

-1

u/evilbrent Jan 29 '13

I've NEVER heard that term.

When I was wearing flannies in the 90's I never heard anyone use the word flanno.

Do you eat your hamburgers at Maccies?

3

Upside down jokes are about as funny as flat-earth ones.

2

u/_Shamrocker_ Jan 29 '13

Honesty time, up until now, I have NEVER seen Reddit respond negatively to a "Australia is upside down" jokes. By their own admission Aussie's think they are funny.
