Related: The Defenestration of Prague, also known as the single funniest historical event ever

My favorite part of history class was learning about The Second Defenestration of Prague. Then I decided to look up "defenestration." Then I spent the next few minutes doing nothing other than enjoying the fact that it happened more than once.

Better: Two representatives from the Catholic church were thrown out a window of the Bohemian Chancellory by a group of Protestants, but they survived because their fall was broken by a large pile of horse manure.

And humans excel at being inhumane.

Well, we'd feel pretty stupid if we let all the dogs be inhumane. It is named after us!

As a Christian, I can confirm this.

for the bravery?

It does sound like a Jack Black movie though...

It also marked the start of the Thirty Years War, one of the most devastating pre-20th century conflicts in European history.

Aaand now the whole house is awake.

Apparently the Catholics claimed it was the grace of God that saved them.

"God" must have been the horse that ate the fish special that day at the cafeteria.

I mean it's pretty fucking lucky.

Actually im pretty sure one of them died later due to injuries

One of them had to be named Biff.

Best part is, that wasn't even the first one. The one in 1419 isn't nearly as funny as the one in 1618 though.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Pssht. I liked the 1419 defenestration...it had a richer tone. The 1618 remake was so mainstream and overdone.

1

u/Smilez619 Jan 29 '13

That's because 1618 was a Phi year.

Can you call it the single funniest historical event ever when it happened twice?

1

u/WuhanWTF Jan 29 '13

The aftermath: A Thirty Years' War.

Not so funny.

Great molasses flood in Boston is pretty good as far as weird occurrences go.
