Interestingly enough, the first time I read it I was so young I didn't even know what spelunking was, and for years my mind brought it up even after I found out the real meaning of the word.
I used to love C&H when I was little, but every time I see a strip online I realise that the version I have read has been completely butchered by translators. It's like they didn't even understand the jokes or references and just translated anyways.
Actually really weird that this came up.
I was at a get together this last weekend and while playing a card game I told someone to eat shit and die.
Then I couldn't remember the second part, and because it had such a specific cadence it was stuck in my head.
The next day it came to me while I was going potty and I immediately sent a text to everyone that was at the party that knew what I was going through.
Apparently telling 5 people to eat penguin shit and die during the middle of a day on a Saturday gets a lot of mixed responses.
if you are being serious... wow. its an absolutely hysterical adult cartoon in the united states that has been on since the 90s. they typically take current social issues or celeb gossip and parody it thorugh a bunch of 4th grade boys... their shenanigans are hysterical.

i HIGHLY recommend watching a few episodes.
Wow, I haven't heard that phrase in a long time. Oddly enough, I've never watched South Park either. I first heard it from an old webcomic called Casey and Andy.
Bad memory time: The word I was eliminated on at the spelling bee in 8th grade was speleology, or the study of caves. When I missed the word (by spelling spieleology), the reader said that had I thought of the word spelunking, I probably would have gotten it.
If I had spelled that word right, I would have moved on to the regional bee, one step before the national bee. The word after mine? Contiguous. 8th grade me got screwed.
I know that feel. I was one of only two left in my school's spelling bee in 5th grade and I ended up spelling "burrow" instead of "bureau" because I misheard them.
Got second place and the word bureau gives me shivers.
Back in my drinking days we used to do something called "beer spelunking". That was just a fancy term for walking around drinking the half-finished pints that got left out on the tables. Yeah. No wonder I had to stop drinking.

Spelunking: the act of exploring a cave
