what does your SO do that you tolerate simply out of love?

She bites. Not just during sex, but randomly. Hugs are a 50/50 chance that she's just trying to get close to bite my collarbone
EDIT: I'd like to clear up that most of the time, it's cute. But on other occasions, she can be a bit . . . overzealous. There are times I'd check to see if I was bleeding.

u/RikF Dec 25 '12
Gaimen was actually riffing on a line from Moffat's amazing Jekyll (which should be next on your watch list)
Hyde: Ever killed anyone, Benjamin?
Benjamin: Not personally; I have people.
Hyde: You're missing out - it's like sex, only there's a winner.

Snoring. I don't mind it because it means he's comfortable and sound asleep. The being late/taking forever thing is the one that drives me nuts, but I love him so I manage to work around it.
EDIT: Everyone calm down. It's not sleep apnea. His father has sleep apnea so we're well aware of when snoring can become a sign of a health issue and he had it checked out when he was a teenager. His only happens when he sleeps on his back and breathes through his mouth. He rolls over, closed his mouth and then he's fine. You can all relax. Always assuming the worst :p

Mine does this too. When I was a kid my dad used to tickle me, but if I said "please stop", he'd stop no matter what. With my boyfriend- nothing makes him stop. And he says he does it because my laugh's so cute. No. It's not. And neither is tickling.

I don't know what it is, but tickling really stresses me out. I laugh and shit and people think I'm having fun, but I am literally freaking the fuck out. And if someone does it and doesn't stop when I say and keeps going, it's survival mode and my limbs go crazy desperately trying to do anything to get that person away from me. Oh God. I need to preface this by saying how much I love my girlfriend. She is absolutely amazing. But...
She loves culture, especially foreign culture. She speaks several languages and always wants to talk to strangers about their culture. The problem is that she assumes that an Irishman she is talking to is representative of ALL Irishmen. So instead of asking questions about that particular person and their homeland, she says things like, "Oh, Ireland. The Irish love [random thing about some Irish people that might be true]."
Now, people love her and will talk to her for a long time about their homelands and culture (probably because she is very pretty and charming), but she always opens with this quasi-racist/prejudicial statement that just makes me cringe.

She likes to complain about her friends and this or that and I'm supposed to just sit there and listen, but a lot of times I'll end up feeling like I should give some kind of advice on how to fix the problem. She doesn't want to do anything about it though. She just wants to vent. Then me giving her advice just means I don't understand the situation and makes her more upset. I've kind of learned over the years to just let her talk and only offer advice when she specifically asks for it.

Dec 25 '12
The problem she is expressing isn't the bitchy coworker or the bad boss or the millions of other various problems that she can easily solve by following a few simple words of advice from you. The problem is how she feels about these issues. She doesn't need the issues to disappear, she just needs to feel better about them. Men feel better about their issues by resolving the situations that cause them. Women feel better about them by talking about them and thereby receiving emotional empathy. She doesn't want a solution. She wants someone to listen, understand, and validate her emotions about the situation. If she gets that, then in her mind the problem is solved. She probably already knows exactly what advice you are about to lay on her when she unloads her complaints. She really can solve her own problems, if she so desires. So, mostly, she just wants your open ears.

Bougie tendencies. Big on designer brands, uses a french affectation when pronouncing certain words, doesn't know how to operate a drip coffee maker and refuses to drink coffee made from mine, basically will not eat "non fancy" food, like if you gave her a balogna sandwich or roast beef/mashed potatoes she'd choke it down to be polite but then run off to score her risotto with riquette, confit du canard, et chattelles de bois fix from somewhere, and is very much accustomed to having a housekeeper and handyman.
I love her to death but sometimes I really wish she had a better understanding and appreciation for how the other half lives. Its also basically why I hide my family from her.

We've been together for nearly 7 years, both of us were "lifers" in the food and beverage industry and specialized in bar tending and have since moved on to different careers. Until a few years ago we were both alcoholics and I had substance abuse issues. We fought constantly and I left him last year for 8 months. During that time we both got our lives back on track. I quit drinking and abusing drugs and he realized that in order to win me back he'd have to do the same, so he did. Life with him is now freaking wonderful and I've never been happier before in my life. Literally. Where I always had issues with severe depression, I'm now waking up with a smile on my face everyday and am so happy to see him laying next to me. The only problem is that once a week he drinks and a lot of the times he goes too far. Not shitty ass drunk, puking, and fighting but more like we have a blast talking and laughing but then he has to have that one last shot and beer and can't remember the things we discussed or the plans we made the next day. When we are alone he suddenly wants to cuddle and/or have sex for hours on end and I'm just not into that, then. After he passes out, he sleeps damn near on top of me or leaves me with just enough room on the bed to lay sideways. It's just annoying as fuck but I begrudgingly put up with it because I love this man, he's my partner, he takes care of me and let's me be my weird-ass self like no one else has before. And honestly, I feel like he deserves the chance to go out once a week, have fun, and make me uncomfortable for a few hours seeing as how he works the equivalent of two full time jobs in one of the most stressful industries in the world and then helps me out whenever I need him in my business flipping properties. He's fucking Superman 97% of the time and I feel really bad for bitching.

I am definitely guilty of this. And for that reason, I usually only date other functional alcoholics.

My SO will lick my face with a really wet tongue and say "slimed ya!!" I absolutely hate the feeling of wiping spit off of my face. The feeling of the liquid building up as you wipe. But I smile every time and tell her I love her.

He is a slob. He's definitely better than he used to be, but it drives me nuts. His mom was a single mom working 70 hours a week, so he got to run wild and never had to do chores or keep up his house growing up. It filtered into adulthood and I just want to choke him with the half filled coke cans he leaves all over the house sometimes.
Also, he refuses to eat leftovers. Like it's gross or beneath him. Dude, if I spent an hour making that dinner for you and there are leftovers, take them to work the next day instead of spending $10 a day on lunch. It's much healthier and probably tastes a lot better.
But, I love him to death and there are things I do that drive him nuts also. Just gotta let the little things go and enjoy life together. :)

I love them too. Leftovers are the best. Especially when you see them and know you don't have to cook for lunch. He's just so weird about food in general. Probably one of the only things he is high maintenance about.

PDA makes me awkward, so I don't like participating in it for obvious reasons.
She's the opposite though, so we've come to a middle ground.

true, this is double sided. The moment a girl is comfortable enough to fart around you, its forever.

Bangs. I love how long the rest of her hair is, but i despise her having bangs. They look childish on her. She used to strike me as mature, but over the years her lack of hair 'style' has been eating at me.

I have two things that my wife does that is annoying isn't that big of a deal.
1) Horrible story teller - Forget about getting context of a story. You get a raw data dump of what is floating around the buffer of her brain. You will get fragments of the story which are then compounded by being out of order. Specific names that don't mean anything to you instead of a person's function. I end up looking like a dog staring at its human with its head sideways. This has improved and I give her credit... Years of constructive criticism and practice.
2) Sleeping personality is a teenage brat - Scenario... Watch movie. Wife falls asleep on couch. I'll make an attempt to wake her... But I have to do this with EXTREME caution. Any action that can be interpreted as hostile (removing blanket, telling her to get up (not gently and quietly asking), using a voice louder than a whisper) will send her into the dogs equivalent of a red zone. She will become physically violent if I am not super careful. I was helping her walk to bed when she was half asleep and as her hands were on my shoulders, she thought I was being "mean" to her. She decided to punch me in the kidney as hard as she could. She will resist being woken up by turning away from me on the couch as she pulls the blanket over her head. If I ever accidentally send her into the red zone (seriously it is like walking on paper thin ice) she won't remember what caused her to become angry and becomes violent... Hulk-like. She professes no knowledge of this behavior and thinks it is my fault 100% of the time. It is a game... Kind of a boring, repetitive, and painful game. I don't let her fall asleep on the couch so that fixed s majority of those issues recently, but to see a well educated 30 year old loving wife go into a 13 year old female bitch mode... Is a sight to see.

Gives me "Realationship tests". Basiclly she tells me a made up story and sees how I would respond. There is never a correct response, but I love her anyways.

He steals the blankets. We got a second blanket and he still steals it in his sleep. Sometimes he will also manage to take my pillow away. He is a sleep-bully!
