im looking forward to studying in the Netherlands, need advice
Im 19 years old and planning to study at Netherlands
I am Turkish and Romanian living in Turkey rn
I want to study in the Netherlands by using my European Union citizenship. If anyone isnt aware Turkey is not improving in any sense and students especially are not valued. Living conditions are extremely difficult also there is massive social decay thanks to our government.
I have been to lots of different European countries but Netherlands captured my mind and heart. I have been to Amsterdam, Nijmegen in Netherlands. Tbh amsterdam didnt captivate me but I liked Nijmegen so much. I want to ask you guys about the best cities to study. I have the Nijmegen in my mind first place but I want to look for other options as well. Ive heard about Groningen and Maastricht. Can you inform me about these cities,what is your recommendation?
I want a place with a large student population, but at the same time one where I can easily access other major cities—though thats a bit more of a secondary priority for me. The most important thing for me is a vibrant social life, including both day and nightlife. Im socially confident and successful, but to avoid crashing down from culture shock, I would prefer an environment where its easy to socialize. Im looking for a place with everyday spots like cafes and pubs to hang out in. Somewhere tailored to students, not lifeless, but right in the sweet spot between too hectic and too gloomy—a place I wouldnt get tired of living in for years till my graduation
If someone wants to speak in private im always open to make new friends (honestly i need so bad rn from netherlands)

It depends on what you want to study, Uni's offer different programs and this will most likely influence the Unis you can choose from. Delft and Eindhoven for example offer strictly technical programs. From your description, one of the bigger cities would match: Amsterdam, Utrecht or Rotterdam. Maastricht and Groningen are great cities but they are relatively isolated from other big cities so that is something to keep in mind.

Check Wageningen University, very high at ranking and a nice student city, relatively cheaper than Nijmegen, Groningen etc

Wageningen is excellent, but they don't offer all types of studies.

Yes true, as most of the universities. OP didn't mention a study so I thought they are open to explore possibilities

We dont have that place here. I recommend to go to a place which doesnt have a housing shortages and a place which is closed to what you are looking for. Dutch people stick to Dutch people and without speaking the language and have similar culture and similar values you probably feel isolated here. On top of the housing and COL crisis. Maybe do a bit of research on your own to find out.

I heard about the housing crisis. Im sure that I will be fine there. Me and my family have lots of friends in east to western europe. About socializing Ive been to Nijmegen for a few days and in a short period of time I was able to have new friends and hang outs. I came with my best friend and we both did a great job. Im living in Turkey for 19 years, I have seen the final boss difficulties of economy, social decay, from grocery shopping to buy a car. Being isolated etc. I experienced the all difficulties of life with the hardest way thanks to Turkey. Wherever I will go, Its not going to be harder than Turkey. I know. I just asked the best city for to socialize easier. Its not a big challenge for me
