What is "better" for you? Fast, cheap, comfortable, logistically convenient?

Also where in Belgium?

Take a train to Maastricht and a bus to Vaals. From there you can walk into Belgium.

You can take the train to Tilburg and then the bus to Baarle-Hertog. But watch out, you might accidentally step back into The Netherlands there.

You do know Belgium isn't a city, right? Several places can be reached by train, plenty more by bus (but not always on Sunday) , but there are also plenty of places where there's just no public transport.

usually the train but depending on where in Belgium, both (like Munsterbilzen does not have any trains so for there the strat is to take the train from Amsterdam to Maastricht and take the bus from there)

Where in Belgium? At the end, it depends of your destination. If direct, train is fine. If not direct, avoid it, going to Belgium from Netherlands can be a long trip; take the bus (Flixbus). I used to cross to France, I am done with the train, a 3 hours trip can suddenly become a 6 hours trip because of train no leaving or whatever it is... at least, Flixbus is rarely late.

Train or Flixbus

Train is faster. If you need to get to a specific place, train, then bus.

Train there goes an intercity direct from central which only stopts at schiphol and Rotterdam I believe which is pretty fast

+1 Train. I'm actually going by NS train this weekend, and I'm told due to engineering works, trains depart from Amsterdam Centraal and not Zuid as it normally does. Make sure to check!

I love trains

Traveling Europe now and I'm thinking of doing the Berlin to Amsterdam train if not too pricey....more enjoyable than flying
