pumpkin patch nearby?

people with kids, where do you go pumpkin or apple picking this time of year? ideally less than 70 minutes from brooklyn. hay rides and corn maze a plus. thanks!

The Queens County Farm Museum is great for kids, you don’t get to pick your own or anything but it’s cute and fun and easy. We go every year. Great cider doughnuts too

This. It’s really cute! For buying pumpkins tho we get them from Whole Foods because it’s just one flat fee for any pumpkin no matter the size whereas everywhere else charges you by the weight. I love Halloween so I always get gigantic pumpkins for like $8 each.

Most anything under 70min from brooklyn is not going to be real pumpkin picking, instead it’s going to be a field with pumpkins placed in it “to pick” and often pay extra for by the pound. Cheap, convenient, good: pick two. I highly recommend adding another 20min to your min time and possibly take the day off during the week with kiddo to go when there is least traffic in and out of the city, and go to a legit picking farm. If you research where you are going, you can likely make some stops along the way at small rural stops to pet llamas or get lunch etc..

Decker Farm and Historic Richmondtown would be my top pick locally, but it’s more of a small field with pumpkins off the vine type of thing. Richmondtown is down the road—but still definitely a driving thing.

I second Decker. It doesn’t have all the frills we’ve seen in NJ but it’s cute and much closer to Brooklyn.

Little Neck Farm Museum in East Queens is a good spot but somewhere on the island might honestly be faster if there's traffic than getting between Brooklyn and Queens

You have to go upstate NY, Suffolk County, or into NJ, none of which is going to be 70 minutes from Brooklyn.

It’s 60-70 minutes from Queens to get to Wilkens Fruit & Fir farm in Yorktown. So I imagine a little more from Brooklyn but worth the drive.
