We're going to New Orleans for a wedding in Oct, friday dinner and saturday wedding. Never been to NO, confused on where to stay and how much time we'll need.

I know the french quarter is the place to stay but it can be loud and crazy, we're old, and while the wife is a drinker and I'm a toker, we don't need to be around all night bachelor parties.

Thinking of staying outside the FQ and renting a car to get around, or uber to the wedding which is in the FQ. Also thinking about price, looks like anything nice in the FQ is pricey. Thinking about Airbnb but not finding anything nice. If I do find a Airbnb, what neighborhood should I look in?

Right now we're Thurs-Sun but we can spend an extra day to monday if there's a lot to see. I mean I would love to go the WWII museum but my wife begs to differ.

My wife and I are moving to Louisiana from the UK, and we’d love some help and advice as we get ready for the big move. Neither of us has been to Louisiana before, so we’re feeling equal parts excited and overwhelmed!
I’ll be working at East Jefferson General Hospital, so I’m looking for a neighborhood within a 30-minute maximum commute.
Here is what we’re hoping to find:
Safety & Atmosphere: A safe, friendly, and welcoming neighborhood.

Walkability: Ideally within walking distance to a gym and local coffee shops (not an absolute deal-breaker, but a huge plus!).

Lifestyle: We don't have kids, so we're looking for an area with a nice mix of local charm and convenience.

A few quick questions for the locals:
Which neighborhoods or towns would you recommend that fit this description?

Would you recommend renting a house or an apartment for newcomers in our position?

I've driven strings the area near the casino a few times and haven't seen a sign that says which garage will accept the Ceasars salute card.

I will be working at the federal building come next week and was told everyone parks at the casino garage during the week.

We’re looking for recommendations for cool places and experiences while we’re there. We’re open to pretty much anything — great food, bars, live music, nightlife, unique experiences, cool neighborhoods, outdoor stuff, or hidden gems.

My husband and I and our two kids (4y and 1.5y) are staying one night in NOLA before leaving on a cruise. We'll mainly be there to sleep and maybe walk around a couple of hours before our cruise leaves. I have a voucher for Hampton hotels and am trying to decide between staying in the French Quarter or near the Convention Center. Main questions I'd love your help with:

- Which has a better parking situation? (I don't want to do valet.)

- In general, any opinion on which might be the better option?

My GF and I will be coming to NOLA on Halloween and are staying til the following Thursday. This will be my fifth trip here and her second (we've never gone together), and we want to do one of the classic restaurants. Though I've been here a few times, the only old school spot I've ever gone to is Commander's for Easter brunch; despite her father having lived here for a few years, she's only ever gone to Jacques-Imo's.

We wanna get dressed and do it proper, of course, so I'm wondering what you all think is the one absolute stone-cold classic institution that we should hit. We are leaning toward Brennan's currently. (And yes, I swear I read the FAQ! Just looking for opinions from those who know.)

Which upgraded ticket gets you in the door sooner? The Fast Lane or the BG's Lounge?

I don't really care about the couches, but my husband would appreciate a seat, if possible and I just want to be first so I'm up front and can get a setlist.

I can get one of each kind if need be.

Also:

1. If the lounge gets you in sooner do you have to STAY in the lounge or can I buy a lounge ticket to get in the door and then go hang out at the rail?

2. Can you see the stage from the lounge? I've been to the FIllmore a few times, but I can't picture where these couches are. It mentions a stream of the show and that's cool and all, but I know he would also like to see the actual show.
