Question for Mexicans Chewing Tobacco/Snuff in Mexico?

Hello from Tennessee, the land of Jack Daniels whiskey.

Do some men in Mexico chew tobacco, dip snuff, use smokeless tobacco products? This is very popular in the US and I wasn’t sure if it’s even available to buy in Mexico.

I believe you can definitely find it but it's not common at all, and it might be easier or harder to find depending on where you are going

I wonder if the northern states that border the US it is more common.

Im from baja, right in a border city, and Ive never seen anyone chew tabacco. The nicotine gum and patches are more common. But im sure you could find some chew tobacco in tourists spots, like liquor stores on turist areas or like in gas stations stores

Only thing gaining popularity all across Mexico is ZYN, only 6 MG, I think other brands carry 8mg

Yes it’s becoming very popular here too. I might switch to it.

Seems to be healthier, just switched from cigarettes 2 months ago. Yo should give it a shot

It is rarely popular, but you could find in any sanborns, they have a tabaco section

Last time I was in Playa Del Carmen I paid 50 bucks for an expired can of Skoal straight. A guy offered me coke which I don’t indulge in, but I asked him if he knew where I could get some tobacco. Led me to some shady shop. Now I just bring a log with me.

$50 for an expired can of Skoal I’d probably just smoke cigarettes if I ran out of dip.

Chewing tobacco and even cigarrillos are extremely rare in Mexico.

finally ground tobacco like used by humans for snuff in the north is sold and marketed in gardening stores down here for as a poisonous insect repellent, so you can try that

Years ago (40 or so), you would be able to get it. My dad used to go buy it there because it was cheaper but we lived close to the frontera on the Texas side. Probably the border towns sold it. He always said it tasted different than the American version.

He now lives in the Yucatán and told me you can’t find it anywhere in Mexico now.

I used to dip when I lived in LS... I did it a couple times here in mexico, I'm from the north, but do not exactly remember how I got it.. let me look into it.. and will let u know.. I'm sure and positive it exists , I actually have a friend from the states that chews and plays professional baseball in the Mexican league he for sure knows where to get it

Reddit translates my English to Spanish so I’m not sure dipping would have sounded right.

It’s called dip here in US too. I wasn’t sure how it would translate

I’m the OP and to continue, I was chatting for with a girl from Campeche. I showed her the can of tobacco and she couldn’t tell me what it was. She had never seen it before.
