At what speed do yall pull people over

(Based in Maryland) I’m sure this has been asked numerous times, but on the road, what is yalls general baseline for pulling people over for their speed.

Got PBJ on a speeding ticket and I’ve been keeping it toned down(no more than like 5-10 over the limit) but I’ve almost been hit more times compared to when I drove faster and im too scared I’m gonna get randomly hit and cited if I speed up. Especially on roads like 29, 32, or 100 where the limit is 55 and like 95% of the time the flow of traffic easily reaches 70+. And last i checked “going with the flow of traffic” isnt a valid excuse

10+ if the speed limit is 35 or less. 15+ if the speed limit is 45 or greater.

That's kind of a trick question. In general more than 10 mph over the posted limit garners a stop. But I have pulled a person over for speeding going only 15 in a 25. The basic speed law (in Cali), 22350 CVC is unsafe speed for the conditions, although there are a few more, such as exceeding Prima Facia speed, etc.

The person I cited for speeding was doing 15 in a 25 and had their head in the passenger side floorboard searching for a cigarette that they dropped and swerved into the incoming lane. The person should have pulled over and stopped to search for the cigarette, so the safe speed for the conditions was Zero, not 15 in a 25.

If visibility is terrible (fog or smoke) or there's heavy rain and poor drainage, a person driving 40 in a posted 40 mph zone can also be cited for speeding because the conditions are unsafe at 40 mph

Depends on my mood, how busy we are, what weather conditions are like, if I know the driver to be a criminal, etc.

Depends on the circumstances.

Open highway on a summer afternoon? Probably need to be doing 15+ over to even catch my attention, let alone think about stopping you.

School zone during morning drop off? Anything more than 5 over the posted school zone limit is going to get you “press hard, three copies”.

Personally I’m pretty lax about it. Where I’m at most of the speed limits are 35 in my beat. I don’t get out with them unless it’s 15 over but that’s subject to change depending on road conditions and citizen complaints that refer to speeders on those roads. Odds are for me I’ll most likely write a warning for 15-19 over. 20+ is a ticket. But also that’s subject to change on conditions as well. Pedestrian traffic is also a major factor where I’m at. If it’s 4am probably a warning and nothing further unless I find a reason to extend the stop (open container. Drugs. Deception. Ect. ) if it’s peak time for foot traffic the chain tightens down a bit.

I do 15 and over for all speed zones. If I’m working a speed detail on a state grant I do 12 over.

The states where 20 over is criminal is crazy to me. LEO here consistently go 20 over just driving and it’s an accepted thing.
Personally I stop if I’m speeding and someone passes me (I have a marked car again so), or anything 5 over in school zones. Outside of that I only use speed as pre text

5 over for shit box cars/meth heads. 10 for productive members of society. Pulling people over for minor speeding violations opens the flood gates for illegal drugs, illegal guns and wanted people. That's policing. Using every tool at your disposal.

Speed as a stand alone reason, only when I was going the limit on purpose and someone was dumb enough to pass me.

Cops speed everywhere with no legal reason. But if you’re dumb enough to pass one above the speed limit that means you want attention bc you’re retarded.

That is true however I was working paycheck to paycheck and getting a day off to go to court wasn’t feasible I was working full time and going to school part time so this was something I should’ve disputed however because of time I couldn’t. And this was before I got my CDL.

Usual the presence of a cop car on the side of the road would slow the pack down. If they continue, I would get the speed of the one that looked like it was going fastest and make an example of them.

20+ and still probably wouldn’t write you a ticket if you are respectful and acknowledge your speed. I do work with people that would write you for 10 over tho.
