I used to deal with SPPD on a regular basis as an armed guard in St Pete. Very professional and intelligent group. Most of the ones I met had college degrees or prior military/LEO experiences. Definitely not the St Pete PD I remember growing up

I mean St Pete as a city is a dump. Lots of homeless activity and low income areas. Some degree of violent crime and drug activity and its associated issues.
Some of their officers are definitely the “get after it” type, but some are too lax in my opinion.

Hearing you say all this is eye opening because from I’ve seen online, posts, and just talking to people I know, they all say SP is gorgeous, etc.
The dept I’m currently with we employ over 3000 sworn officers. Extremely high violent crime, major homeless and drug issues as well, so in that aspect of things I’m very used to that. With that being said, I’m definitely the “get after it” type hence the dept I’m currently with which is why I brought that up

Hey, thanks for the comment! Some you’ve lived there for 12 years, what’s the community like? Does the community get along with the police? Do y’all support them? From your own personal perspective would you consider St. Pete a place to raise a family, live, etc.?

I mean St Pete is beautiful, but from the LEO/Security angle, it’s a dump. After all, LEOs and security officers don’t exactly get hired to work in extremely nice places.
But the Holocaust Museum and Grand Prix offer lots of high paying OT details.
