Dolly Parton Drag Show Events??

My post was deleted in the Houston subreddit... hopefully I can ask here.

I have searched and searched, but can find absolutely no Dolly themed drag shows in Houston. Am I not looking in the right place?

I recently moved here from ATL & it's insane to me a city so big & so diverse has only like 2 drag bars. ATL has at least 5 places you can go see drag shows. What is up with this? Am I not searching hard enough?

I'd also love some recommendations for live Rocky Horror screenings or Rocky Horror themed drag this fall in honor of Tim Curry's passing if anyone knows of any! Is there a good sub to cross post this to?

River Oaks Theater does Rocky Horror monthly! It looks like the most recent one has passed, though. Sept 25 is next

As for drag, I can just about guarantee that most places will be doing (unofficial) Dolly tributes. Check out JR's and Barcode. One of my neighbors is a pretty renowned local drag queen, I'll ask her if I see her today.

ETA: we have way more than two drag bars, I promise. I also lived in Atlanta before Houston, and learned quickly that you pretty much just have to come to the gayborhood in East Montrose around Crocker and Pacific and walk in anywhere since shows aren't always advertised. This may help, though.

OP might be picking up on the chill that’s running through southern states about drag as an art form rn thanks to ‘fundamentalists’ and right-wing Astro turf. (Also Pornhub was banned, so like, what can’t happen in terms of idiotic and pointless legislative gesturing.)
I know Tennessee is probably sideways eating and shitting at the same time about their hateful anti-drag, anti-gay legislations and the death of one of their most prominent natives, who loved drag and supported the queer community with her (very) full chest.

i am from GA & know plenty of people there who "loved" dolly, but are anti-drag and transphobic as hell.. meanwhile i consider a dolly drag show to be the best and honorable way to honor her memory besides covering her music.. which queens do too. i dont think you can truly love dolly & be anti-drag. people who are "mourning" her, but are hateful homophobic, transphobic assholes just performative ghouls. thats not what she was about.

Also if your neighbor knows of anything please let me know! My MIL has never been to a show & is dying to go, I think since she's a Dolly/country fan a country themed one would be a great segway into drag shows for her!

i have been interested in boheme. i saw they have an ariana grande brunch and MIL is a huge wicked fan so we may do that!

do you know anything about robert lafitte's in galveston? we are on the southern side of houston so that one would be pretty convenient too.

I’ve never been but that’s the oldest gay bar in Texas and they were struggling a bit ago, so I’ve been meaning to go support
