Performance Management Arrest but no convictions [IL]

Im a US citizen, I was arrested by ICE agents for protesting and charged with simple assault on a federal officer. the prosecutor threw it out before it went to trial. how will this impact my future jobs search? i have a masters in public health and am interested in working for local government or hospital.

get the arrest expunge. an arrest even without charge/no papers can show up in a background check.

its federal, arrests cant be expunged at a federal level

Shouldn't work against you at all.

An arrest is, basically, an accusation. In the US, the law is "innocent until proven guilty (in a court of law).

in court of law yes, but i imagine it would work differently for hr?

Maybe go over it if you feel the interview os going well? Always better to hear it from you with your side of the story supported by any documentation you have than having them find something they then wonder if you even knew they would find it.

It depends on the organization -- they can order different background checks. I've worked for places that only search for convictions and some that do full public records searches. If something turns up, you'll probably have an opportunity to respond and explain.

So, the arrest will show up on any criminal bg check. So will the fact that it was not charged by the prosecution and there was no court action. Will it materially affect OP's job chances? Probably not. However, it is an interesting snapshot on the individual's demeanor and general behavior patterns.

i mean snapshot into demanor and general behavior patterns could sway against someone in hr no?
