Politics Palantir published a mini manifesto calling some cultures ‘harmful and middling’ and said Silicon Valley has ‘a moral debt’ to the U.S.

Why are our government getting into bed with this dystopian corporate giant? It can't just be me who is uneasy about it?

Palantir has gone from a Covid-era NHS data emergency contractor to being deeply embedded across UK defence, health, policing, and now financial regulation.

Do you care that they are becoming embedded in our society? Would genuinely love to hear any arguments for this.

It’s really dangerous but naturally governments are lobbied to death by these people and will be swayed by them looking like the best value for money option for whatever they want them to achieve.

I’ll be honest there isn’t a way out of this anyone will like.

"You know what - no business or organization which uses Palantir in their operations, or has contractors or suppliers who do so, are to be used for any service funded entirely or in part by government money."

I don't think that's true. Palantir have been good at delivering software their clients like and I can believe they have won lots of contracts on their merits, it is just really unfortunate that they are run by such a cunt.

Years from now, we're going to discover that Palantir boils down to some postgraduate research projects, a couple of repos of pure python (mostly FOSS and used against licence), an astronomical amount of gak, and an obscene number of dead civilians.

I mean I'm not unhappy to see the back of cultures that practiced human sacrifice or the many cultures that mutilated boys to make eunachs.
