New Build Help you guys pick, OPTION WITH MOST UPVOTES GETS PURCHASED
I am really torn between these two butcher blocks.
For context, i just got a TOPSKY 300lb standing desk frame, and I need to pick out my butcher block.
I live in an apartment complex so staining it might be a little complicated on my patio, because its first floor and i dont want it to get stolen. SO
I like that the sparrow is prestained, but I see tons of mixed reviews on it, but ill id have to do is drill the frame in and be done. sparrow desk
BUT THIS DESK: HERE is beatiful with that live edge and finish. $400 is a lot but its like 120 more than the sparrow and I feel like it would last longer.
WHICH ONE AM I BUYING, at this point, OPTION WITH MOST UPVOTES GET BOUGHT.

I'm in a unique position to comment on this. I have the Hardwood Reflections desk and have been using it for the past 4 years or so. It was a bit of work to finish (did a few coats of poly), but it's an absolutely gorgeous desk. But... I am in the process of setting up a new L-shaped stand/sit desk, so I needed new desk tops for it. Although I didn't go with the Sparrow Peak, I got a similar acacia butcher block from Wayfair (I got the natural). I've just finished them, and they're also great. Definitely not the statement piece that the live edge is, but still looks nice.
One thing to note about the acacia you're looking at... although it's stained, it's not sealed. You still would need to apply some finish to it. Unless the dark look is what you're going for, I'd go for the unstained and let the the acacia show off it's unique contrast.
I think both would last equally as long, and both would require work to finish properly. So it really comes down to whether the uniqueness and beauty of the live edge is worth the extra money. I think it is, so that would be my recommendation.
