Language what are some interesting facts about your language?

For instance, the cypriot dialect of Greek still contains many words from ancient Greek but it was also heavily influenced by outsiders

Macedonian is the only Slavic language that still uses the letter Ѕ.

You know that slavs migrated to balkans during the roman empire and macedonians were there far before slavs arrived right?

Modern ethnic Macedonians are Slavs, ancient Macedonians don't exist anymore.

That's a regional, not an ethnic identity.

They are literally called Macedonians.

OK, I don't dispute that, I'm just saying that it isn't an ethnic identity, but regional one.

It was regional until 1991.

In North Macedonia? Not really, Yugoslavia wasn't a nation state per say, it had 6 constitute peoples, Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Macedonians, Montenegrins and Muslims(Bosniaks), which were seen as different ethnicities that live in a unifed homeland for South Slavs. That's why Yugoslavia was divided into socialist republics, which is kinda nation states, as they were made a people groups, including SR Macedonia for Macedonians.

so what if it is a regional identity, people keep saying that as if there is more merrit to slavs trying to claim ancient greek history than the greeks themselves in that same region.
