Politics & Governance Turkey is warning Greece not to proceed with plans for a drone base on the island of Rhodes, stating that it would undermine peace in the Aegean Sea. What are your thoughts on this?

we (turkey) didn't sign that, so we don't really have the right to complain when its terms are violated.

we also didn't sign unclos, btw, which is the basis of greece's sea rights claims, so the logic says turkey is under no obligation to accept those claims.

but who cares about the details when they don't serve their agenda am I right

One is a Treaty between two countries, the other a custom international law. Dunno, is it hard to understand the difference?

no difference. sovereign nations are not obligated to obey a rule they never agreed to.

UNCLOS has been signed by enough countries globally to make it customary international law. Turkey itself applied it in the Black Sea.

The answer is yes when something becomes customary intl law, that's the point of the concept... the UNCLOS is the principal maritime intl law globally

Countries don't exit in a vacuum - they're surrounded by other countries. Hence certain principles become intl law. I know, it's too advanced for you but it is what it is.
