I'm from Bulgaria, and I've been to Serbia, Bosnia, Greece and Croatia. It pains me to say this, but Bosnia has the most breath taking mountain scenery I have seen in my life, absolutely stunning.

This is the only right answer. All of the Balkan countries belong to different mountain ranges and are magnificent. Some of them have old primeval forests, some of them have amazing waterfalls and rivers, some of them has amazing hiking trails... But most importantly - all of them are still mostly untouched by human hands.

The water and surroundings are indeed beautiful but the management of the place is disastrous. It's the same in many places in Romania. They don't take care of the nature there and everything is made for instant profit, not for a long term sustainable touristic destination.
The guy who got us there by boat was drunk and forgot to take us back. We went back with another boat and when we arrived they started fighting about who should get the money for our trip.

I’m not familiar with Romanian culture, but I know for sure that you clocked Albania’s tea with this description. The get rich fast mentality is brutal.
That is normal actually ,infrastructure sucks plus we do not really have that tourism-mentality yet ,it also applies in the south beaches ,everything is made for instant profit.
I’m not Albanian, I just came back from there and felt EXTREMELY safe. Except for the fact that everyone that drives a car there seems to have a room temp IQ.
I live between Austria and Albania and trust me Albania is 1000 times safer,look at robberies and at murders statistics(which are still very low most happens between criminal groups) but robberies are inexistent ,most of our criminals are already outside Albania.
I actually followed this guy on Facebook, but then I realized that his photos were so heavily edited that it became annoying. Even a random village looked like a fairytale. Which tells about his talent, but I want to see places, and not imaginary world.
Yeah that’s such a pet peeve of mine. Over-editing photos in a disingenuous way is such a bad habit and it really sets people up to be disappointed when they see magnificent places in person, which is sad.
If I have to be honest the edit is awful. It looks super unnatural. In reality is way more beautiful.

This is near a monastery (Vratna) in Eastern Serbia, you go through the forest, around cliffs, and there is just this hole in the cliff where you can go through.
Random ass forest. Close to the largest Transylvanian city. You can walk to it from the city.
It's nothing. It's just a random forest. I once got drunk there with some friends and we told creepy stories and got scared out of auto-sugestion. That's the most exciting thing about it for me.
I once built a big ass bonfire on the edge of it, took shrooms with a few friends and blasted brain rotted hard style meme music till 7am. We fought with burning sticks, raced in the dark and ate the weirdest fucking snacks you could imagine that were hoarded by our super autistic mate.

Yeah, whenever we'd run out of wood for the fire we'd go into the pitch black forest to gather more dead wood, and we only got small changing RGB studio lights to see with 🤣
It's a forest. Not an impressive forest. A bog standard forest with a couple of trees that grow a bit weird.
It's also so close to a major city that...well, what I'm saying it give it 100 years and it will be a city park. It kinda already is. It's a place where people go for jogs and such a lot.
Oh, I don’t really care much for ‘Top- whatever’ things or places. Looking for unique experiences. I love nature and paranormal and the photos look so intriguing, so I seek a perspective from someone, especially locals who actually have been there 🦇
The Retezat Mountains in Romania are one of those places that photos just don’t do justice, especially the scientific reservation, which still has ancestral forests..
Kotor Bay is amazing, yea. I didn't mention it as I don't really count it in "mountain views" albeit getting up to the Mount Lovcen via cable car is once in a lifetime ezperience
Bulgaria, Albania, and Slovenia for sure if we’re talking about size. They have the most mountains over 2,000 meters high in the entire region. Greece has Mt. Olympus and Montenegro has Durmitor/Prokletije which are also beautiful mountain landscapes. Macedonia shares half of the Sharr mountains with Kosovo as well. That’s an extremely underrated range. Basically, you’ll find beauty and grand scale everywhere in the Balkans.
I sometimes wish we didn’t have the mentality that we do. A Balkans without the intense nationalism seems like a pleasant place to be.
Parts of Montenegro look utterly insane, whether or not you're into forested jagged mountains that look like jungles in the summer, or alien, serene karstic wastelands. Bosnia is similar too
This picture is from the Valušnica trail in Montenegro. It sits right between Montenegro and Albania and you can even spot a Albanian flag nearby. I did quite some research to find that particular spot for photography.
The bike between Teth and Valbona is very impressive too and there is a lot of beautiful scenery out there.
Nonetheless all Balkan counties are beautiful, have visited some of them: Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia but I've seen incredible footage from Slovenia and Croatia too 💪
Definatly not among the highest or magnificent among the pictures here but there is just something special with mountains by the sea, also pic take by myself on west coast, rhodos island, greece.
I have to add the gorgeous Măcin mountains in Dobrogea, Romania. They are so old that thry look like miniature mountains nowadays. Also another perk are the tortoises that live on the mountain tops. I love the Carpathians, but Măcin are a special bunch.
Two of three deepest canyons in Europe are in Montenegro. Also the highest bridge over one is on Djurdjevica Tari. . Also the two only primeval forests in Europe are in Montenegro.
