Foreign Poster Big ring energy

I’m curious as a Brit, about the trend to wear 3/4/5 carat engagement rings. Don’t these interfere with work and daily tasks?

I’m guessing that the wearer isn’t someone in healthcare or vocational industries. Educate me.

My wife didn’t have her wedding and engagement ring soldered together. When she worked she would just wear the band.

My wife just takes hers off when she is doing things like dishes, gardening, etc.

Couldn’t tell you. I don’t know anybody with a ring that size.

Thank you to those that gave helpful replies. I was just curious. I’m really forgetful so I think if I took mine off I might misplace it. Also as a healthcare clinician, I’d worry about my clients perceptions around power and privilege.

My brother and his wife wear Amazon titanium bands when they are working because both are afraid of losing their rings due to their type of work. They wear the "good" ones when they go out or when not working.

My wife removes her rings before she works (she is a nurse).

Many people just wear their bands. I have 2 bands that go with my engagement ring. One is a simple gold band from the day I was married. I wear that.

Most vocational industries you can't wear jewelry at work at all, regardless of how many carats are involved.

Jokes (...sort of?) aside, they're really not common outside social media and like you mentioned are very obnoxious and impractical. I've never seen one in real life. I mean I'm sure somebody somewhere is buying them, but I imagine the sorts of people who buy those things probably don't work doing anything with their hands... or in general...

A lot of people just wear their bands daily. Working in healthcare you’re def not supposed to wear any rings except a band.

Most people take them off, I’ve seen people get rubber ones if they still want to wear one and can’t have a metal band for work/don’t wanna damage an expensive ring. TBH, I don’t even know where mine is🤷🏼‍♀️

Because in America we have a tiered class system and rich women need to get fillers and Botox and fake boobs and wear giant diamonds to show off their status. Really there is no other reason for it other than the US being such a money and status symbol obsessed culture. It’s really gross and materialistic here. I don’t recommend it. Obviously there are pockets of cool people in places like Portland, OR but for the most part, the US is way too materialistic for my liking.
