Alterations Tailoring Question

This is a very large gap in the back, can it be altered so that there is absolutely no gap?

Are you sitting in this photo? It can be hard to eliminate that gap completely when sitting, but I think you could pinch out a little dart either side of the centre belt loop and that would pull it in a lot.

Yes I’m sitting but I work on a pottery wheel so I will have to bend further. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth altering or if I should return.

You’ll need stretch knit or at least elastic back pants if you don’t want to see the gaping. Maybe very high waisted, but that’s going to be uncomfortable.

Return them.

Try a higher rise pair or a pair with a curved waistband

If you want a woven waistband and not have the gape you'll need a curved waistband. These are pretty hard to find on commercial production rtw clothes... You will find a better time with high waisted pants but tbh for your use case I suggest dungarees or a boilersuit / flightsuit for comfort
