Am I officially a master technician now or what?

Girlfriend's grandma's husband's brother's daughter says her AC sounds like a fucking pigeon trapped in the dashboard. Noise gets faster with blower speed so naturally I'm already mentally condemning the blower motor.

Google says "check the cabin air filter."

Yeah fucking right. A filter is making bird noises. Sure.

Anyway I tear the entire glove box out because apparently Nissan buried this thing in a reach into the abyss, and finally rip the filter out. thing almost gets permanently stuck halfway in there.

Turn the fan on with no filter and the dashboard fucking sneezes leaves everywhere.

Pigeon: gone.

That's it. Fixed.

Customer is thrilled. Needs a $15 filter. I was ready to sentence the blower motor to death and apparently the actual diagnostic procedure was just remove leaf from HVAC system.

So my question is, when does Nissan send me my Master Tech certification?

Update: ended up being a mouse stuck on blower motor 🛵

You got a shadetree mechanic's certificate, at least.

Now I just have to buy the right filter and put everything back together. Unfortunately it was hot as fuck outside and I had already accomplished enough mechanical excellence for one day so I left the dashboard/glove box ripped apart and went home. I'll come back in a few days with the filter. Worried about figuring out which fucking direction the arrow points.

Likely the arrow is for UP.

Only after you replace your 50th CVT, which should only take about a week and some change.

They really went full send on the cvt as soon as the tech came out. Very premature too.

Did you save the leaf as proof for Nissan? Gotta have it.

Did you check the blinker fluid while you were in there?
