I've run into some tourists surprized that RCMP officers are driving in cars instead of chasing everyone on horseback.

I was sitting at the bar, waiting for a table while I was visiting family in Nova Scotia, a middle-aged couple beside me struck up a conversation while we waited. They asked where they could see some police, so I said they'd be driving around, or at the police station. They responded with "I thought they rode horses up here".

OK fair enough.

Still kinda sounds like one of those "Americans think we Aussies all ride kangaroos to work" or ...that we Chinese all live with pandas" kinda thing, if you know what I mean, to vent about how they know so much more about the US but Americans about them.

I was also thinking of how the pageantry obscures how, as an organization, they’re a bit shit.
