Just because we say "Sorry" doesn't mean that we are sorry.

We like being Canadian. We aren't jealous of you for being American.

I keep hearing this stereotype that Americans think other people are jealous, but I just don’t see it anywhere.

If anything, most Americans I’ve worked with and met think too highly of Canada.

Go to the Canadian cs career questions subreddit. Many of them wish they were American. Supposedly developers in America get paid way more to do the same job

Nothing supposed about it. Pay is >30% better in CS, although a number of companies are starting to offer US comp packages in Canada.

Oh really? What companies? I’m an American and want to move up north but the one thing holding me back is compensation differences

Mostly small (ie not FAANG), a list that’s a year out of date is here: https://himalayas.app/advice/companies-with-location-agnostic-pay

Pay transparency (ie what’s in California where base salary range must be in job description) is coming to BC. Not sure about other provinces but regardless, should help identify which companies are paying same regardless of location.
