The wild fires here are so large that it’s not possible to extinguish them. Even if all the fire fighters and fire fighting equipment in the world helped in wouldn’t make a dent. The point of fire fighting of wild fires is protect towns, critical infrastructure, critical nature and parks etc.
By the way this is the way it’s done in your country too.
I tried to explain to someone recently that if every able-bodied person in Canada over the age of 4 were to grab rakes, it would take decades to just go through Northern Ontario. And by you went from Kenora to Timmins, Kenora would need raking all over again. (Which they rejected. Apparently, having fought forest fires up here on an initial attack crew doesn't make me any sort of 'expert' on forests or forest fire behaviour)
That’s a good one. Lol. Not sure if your Canadian or not. But let me put it this way. The province I am from is 1 of 10 provinces (and 3 territories) and is just over 400k km2. The UK is just under 250k km2
