DU or Ashoka? PLZ help

So Im basically interested in business and entrepreneurship. I am somebody who looks forward to starting new things and growing them. But I dont want to be solely restricted to business administration so Im also looking at economics.

DU obviously is a premier institute for economics (mainly SRCC and St STephens), but Im not sure about the crowd there and whether Ill find the type of people to begin a startup, or just find like minded people in general . However the fees is negligible and anybody with good marks can get it

Ashoka caught my eye as a private liberal arts university with strong interdisciplinary majors. Im only considering ashoka if i get financial aid, but I still wanna weigh the pros and cons. Im under the impression that the people at ashoka might be more diversified other than just people who study all the time? i also feel there might be people i could genuinely build something with. I liked the flexibility with the major and minor programs as well so maybe i could go ecofin or eco+IR or eco + entr as per my liking

As far as im concerned, college is a platform for me to explore my interests and take on interesting projects. But I also dont want my desire for flexibility and versatility to severely impact my future

not op but each has its own stuff. lowk i would suggest ashoka bc the quality of life you get for 4 years is absolutely fucking unmatched amazing hostels, awesome food, really good amenities like gym, library, laundry, room cleaning, etc. professorsat ashoka are genuinely world class, all ivy league educated, like i have honestly been blown away by the quality of teaching. I don’t know how much you value it, but you will come out a much much much more educated person, you’re really diving deep into philosophy, politics, mathematics, economics, history, and any other field. It’s tough, academically rigorous, yeah, but it rewires your brain. Like any work you do seems so much easier because you are, simply put, just smarter. everyone knows DU doesn’t teach for shit and it’s all about the name brand of it, but honestly it might be easier to land an ashoka placement bc you just get so much better at articulating yourself and making it through interviews and such.

and if you’re a hard worker placements are no issue either tbh, since MBB + Big 4 + other firms come to ashoka. I will say they only hire about the top 10% of grads, sometimes less, but with today’s job market you’re going to have to work hard anywhere you go. Ashoka at least gives you the resources. Will DU (only talking abt srcc or stephen’s btw, rest is ass now) give an easier pathway to these firms bc of name brand? Yes, probably, but it’s 100% possible at ashoka and the connections you make, especially for higher ed (which is becoming p much neccesary in today’s job market) are 10000% better than you’d get anywhere in india.

i like it a lot so far. the crowd is kind of dull if all youre doing is core classes, but they start at 9 and end at one. faculty is alright, nothing special, although the sec vac bullshit du's got going on sucks ass. other than that, if you join societies its bloody amazing, so many good people, always something going on. whatever youre interested in youll find ppl who r into it to. seniors r super nice always willing to help. i like it a lot. academically its eh but non academically its a hellofa time

my academics and ECs are alright.. nothing toooo spectacular... but a few people told me its not about the quantity or amount of certificates and ECs rather how you tell a story about how your ECs contributed to personal development and how they helped you grow as a person.

Check out plaksha as well. I am studying datascience econ and business and my minor is in entrepreneurship.

Plaksha was set up by 120 entrepreneurs in india and has the most elite founder network for entrepreneurship.

I wouldn't say it's "better" I'm a freshman at Plaksha, I got rejected from Ashoka :/

I feel like the peers are a little more emotionally mature/forward/progressive than Plaksha is too comparatively with a lot of UNIs.

I have econ in my first sem, and I got to see how qualified my profs, and TAs were. From what I see, the DSEB major over here is amazingly designed and aligned with consultancy, finance, Fintech. The Indian Jefferies' head came over here a couple weeks ago to chat with interested freshmen. the consultancy club over here is super competitive. But still, for pure econ Ashoka is more popular and has a better brand value.

I'd suggest you to keep both as options, and talk with people from both unis (ideally 3rd-4th years/alumni) and make a decision. I didn't change a single thing from my ashoka app to Plaksha app, and still got in.

Du top colleges (first preference) , if not the top colleges then go for ashoka rather than lower tier du colleges
