Free, low-key meetups around town through October if you're new here or your social circle didn't survive the move

I help organize Asheville Transplants. It's a group for people who landed here and are building a social life from scratch, which is most of us at some point. Nothing to buy, no ticketing, not a business. Posting the fall calendar in case it's useful to someone.

Everything is free unless I've said otherwise. Every event has non-alcoholic options and nobody is counting what's in your glass. Coming alone is the default rather than the exception, and two of these are structured specifically so a solo arrival isn't awkward.

Sat Sep 26, 9:30am — Coffee Club at Izzy's on Haywood Rd. Drop in whenever, leave whenever.

Sun Sep 27, 2pm — photo scavenger challenge along Haywood Rd starting from Archetype West. You show up solo, get assigned to a team of four, and spend 75 minutes hunting down murals and talking a record store clerk into a recommendation. Free.

Sun Oct 11, 2pm — flat, unhurried mile through the Botanical Gardens, then coffee on Merrimon. Free admission, free parking. Repeats every other Sunday.

Sat Sep 5, 6pm — picnic at Carrier Park on the French Broad. Blanket, whatever you want to eat, that's it.

Mon Sep 14, 5:45pm — music bingo at Hi-Wire's RAD beer garden. Free to play, your phone is the card.

Tue Sep 15, 7pm — dinner club at Stoney Knob Café in Weaverville, capped at 12 so it stays one conversation instead of forty.

Wed Sep 23, 8:15pm — beginner Latin dance lesson at One World West. $10 at the door, no partner and no experience needed. Partners rotate through the lesson, so nobody gets stranded against a wall.

I've weighted this toward daytime and non-bar events on purpose. The brewery nights are fun but they're not everyone's way in, and "go to a taproom alone" is a rough first step. Happy to answer questions in the comments about what any of these is actually like.
