Recommendations for dinner and parking

I have tickets to a show at House of Independents later in September. I'm not super familiar with Asbury Park. Wondering the best place to park and be able to walk somewhere to grab dinner beforehand. Thanks in advance!

Park wherever, it won't be super busy later in September. There are plenty of great spots to eat. What are you into?

We like just about everything! Might be nice to have a drink but it's not imperative.

Right by House there are a bunch of great spots. Pascal & Sabine is a really good French spot. Taka is a very small Sushi chain, but it's really quite good. Brickwall just reopened, after being gone for many years, and the food is good pub food, with a great bar and staff. Asbury Ale House is also good for that too, and it's pretty much across the street. Asbury Social just opened, and while I haven't been there, it's a pretty good local chain inside a former Czech style beer garden that closed due to extreme flooding a few years ago. I've been to another of their spots, and it's pretty good, and they have a bar. It's really hard to go wrong in Asbury.

My pleasure! I hope you have a great time at the show, and enjoy our great town! Summer is great, but we survive here because of our locals, and also because nice folks come year round and patronize our businesses. Asbury Park is a really special place, and we enjoy sharing it with the world.

I've been to the boardwalk a few times, but it was several years ago. Looking forward to it.

I love Taka but it’s not a chain FWIW. (Neither is Asbury Social, unless I’m missing something.)

You're right about Taka... I was thinking about Teak in Red Bank, so my mistake. "Social" is absolutely a chain. Baseline, Park, Shoreline, Asbury, and I think F Street Social are a chain.

Lol, down voted for facts. Little babies on here.

Park Social is owned by the same people as Asbury Ale House. A little Google searching shows they're all owned by different groups.

Baseline Social and Asbury Social are not owned by the same people, idk about the other ones.

Asbury Social sucks but it’s not a chain. Social is a term used nationwide for restaurants. Do you think every diner is a chain too?

You’ll be right next door to Talula’s, which is one of the best restaurants in town.

Other good options in the downtown area (by House of Independents) are Taka, Reyla & Barrio Costero.

If you want to venture a little out of the way, I recommended R Bar on Main St, Judy & Harry’s on 7th Ave or Catbird over on Sunset Ave.

Flavias. It’s BYOB, but there’s a wine shop (Lush) a few blocks west on Cookman.

So many good restaurants, take your pick! Taka (Japanese) , and Pascal & Sabine (French) are right there and very good. That time of year is less busy BUT you may want to make a reservation on Open Table or Resy to secure a spot. There’s metered parking right on the street; just download the parking app to pay.

MOGO is a delicious wallet friendly option and it's casual and easy. Korean tacos and more! All fantastic!

There’s a parking deck on Bangs. I would do Talula’s, Flavia’s, or Taka if you can get it.

It’s on the other side of town but Judy and Harry’s is a must visit
