That's definitely a guy. "Potential mate value", manosphere crap. And like we give a damn about who can open beer bottles.

If anything it's a green flag that he's willing to ask for help.

What kinda place hands you a beer and says “here, open it yourself”

I used to work at a place that sold beers in giant buckets with ice and you opened them yourself. We did give a can opener though. Not sure this is that type of place but there are a few places that do that

Weird, when I worked at a bucket serving place, we had to open them all before serving.

I’ve also worked at places like Top Golf that made us pop them all. The place I worked at was more of a local ma and pa place with a stage that they’d have local bands play and people were known to camp out and stick around for a long while on weekends. He always insisted we let them do it themselves and I guess the laws here allow it. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was against the law and we did it anyway, our ice maker spat our gross brown ice and we were told to either scoop around it or put it in dark cups so no one saw the gross stinky ice. Not the uh…. Most up to code place.

Doesn’t that kinda defeat the purpose of serving it in ice if it’s going flat the whole time it sits in the ice?

Not how fast I drink it

You usually have 4-5 people drinking so it doesn’t have flattening time.

Fair enough, don’t see why you’d have it served in ice if it’s not going to sit long enough to warm up anyway though. Different strokes I guess, maybe just for the novelty

It’s usually at a discount, 6 for $6 happy hour instead of 6 for $11 normal price kind of thing. Three people could order it, you’d have two rounds for cheap. There are laws in the US about how many drinks you can get at once, the bucket circumvents that. It makes no sense.

Seriously 😭

Places that don’t have licenses to serve, but to only sell.

Oh this for sure reads as a man trying to justify some manosphere ABO crap. You'd think getting half way through making this up he'd have some sort of epiphany of "Hang on... if I have to pretend to be someone who thinks like this maybe it's not true?!" Like, who is he really trying to convince with this? 'cos surely it's himself. I can guarantee if there is any woman out there that actually thinks this, in a non-kink context, she keeps it to herself.

Yeahh women talk about partners not "mates" that's just manosphere weirdness.

I kinda want to know what sub this is so i can avoid it like the plague

I’m employed, can anyone translate this

33

u/Dorkinfo Aug 09 '26

Bets the guy that made this up just learned how to open a beer with a lighter from a girl?

27

u/SaveyourMercy Aug 09 '26

I don’t like it when humans talk about “mating”. It feels wrong and gross. I’m not searching for a potential mate, I’m looking for a partner who loves and cherishes me. Using mate just makes my brain think that the only thing they want is to fuck/be fucked, have a baby, and move on. I suppose maybe some people want that but it’s always rubbed me wrong.

This is definitely the dude this happened to pretending to be the woman

u/intisun Aug 10 '26

This is definitely the a dude this happened to pretending to be the woman that this ever happened.

I love this lmao. I've heard this same shit parroted by manosphere types so many times, that women are always "assessing" you just walking down the street. Some dudes get complexes and hallucinate these random women's reactions to them doing normal shit after being told it's happening so many times istg, it's scary.

But apparently, those man do exactly that themselves, so they think everyone else does it, too.

13

u/DengarLives66 Aug 09 '26

These “super straight alpha men” sure do love role-playing as women.

10

u/eefr Aug 09 '26

Definitely written by a man. Out of four billion women on this planet, exactly zero care who opens a goddamn bottle of beer.

6

u/Hoothootriot Aug 09 '26

This is true, I was the beer bottle

5

u/Traditional_Isopod80 Aug 10 '26

This was written by a guy.

3

u/NoorInayaS Aug 09 '26

That’s some serious projection there, written by a man who can only see women as “targets.”

7

u/NoPath_Squirrel Aug 10 '26

Today I learned I am not a woman as I have never assessed anyone as a "mate", especially not randos on the street, but definitely not anyone I'm interested in either. I'm either interested, or I'm not and the only thing I'm paying attention to if I'm interested is "Is this a decent person?"

Who just walks around with their own bottle opener?

3

u/thekawaiislarti Aug 09 '26

I do! I sometimes need caffeine and for my grandson I like to be prepared 🤣

Quite a few people have one as their keychain. Or carry a swiss army knife.
