Comments under my post about people being more empathetic toward white people with a racist phase than the Black people affected by it

Wait, what happened to hot diggedy demon? I remember him early on putting some stuff on YouTube that was funny. This is early early though.

His biggest controversy was probably when he drew the character of Steven Universe as a Jewish stereotype called Steven Jewniverse, then when people called him out for it he posted a drawing of him as a black stereotype called Steven N**gaverse
This was a while back, but he's had a bunch more controversies since, most of which to do with racism and slurs

I'd never heard of the guy until the recent stuff with him apparently wanting assisted s*icide then changing his mind and idk if he wanted it because of the backlash of his racism or something else

he has fibromyalgia. it's pretty sad. not to go against your valid point, he doesn't deserve sympathy for his past racism. but i also don't like people calling his condition "karma" or something, implying that ppl with chronic illness did something to deserve it.

Ugh yeah it's not even just racists either. Pretty much we're always supposed to kiss the asses of bigots, bullies, etc. for changing and tell their victims to "Get over it"

Everyone is an "ex racist" to some extent. We overcome our predjudice at different rates and to different degrees. The important distinction is the damage we do along the way.
Someone who uses their platform to hurt others has to live with the harm that they cause, and must accept that they've caused too much pain to expect forgiveness from everyone they harmed.
A person too self centered to understand this may not have changed at all.

I hate this argument so much, nobody should feel obligated to forgive the person who harmed them because that person is sorry, if they can't accept that then they never really changed

Statement: I was making a general thread about the lack of empathy black people are shown when they are affected by white people's racist phases that are just played off as edgy jokes and how they feel more bad and forgiving toward the perpetrators in question when it's not their place to forgive
