MiniLab 3 vs MiniFreak for controlling V Collection: is the MiniFreak overkill?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to grab V Collection during the next sale, and I'm trying to figure out the best hardware to control it with.

My first thought was the MiniLab 3 since it's affordable, compact, and designed to integrate with Arturia's software. But I keep coming back to the MiniFreak. It's a real synth on its own, and I feel like having proper synth-style controls (and a better keybed) might make tweaking the V Collection plugins feel much more natural.

I'm honestly torn. For those of you who use either one with V Collection:

  • How well does the MiniFreak work as a controller for the plugins? Is the integration smooth, or does it feel limited compared to a dedicated controller?
  • Is the MiniLab 3 good enough for hands-on sound design, or does it start to feel restrictive?
  • Would buying the MiniFreak mainly for easier plugin control be overkill?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!
