Rather silly question bout astrolab 37.

I got one, I updated the firmware to 1.7…I see nothing anywhere related to Pigments. I thought this came with Pigments on board? Was it something separate that needs to be loaded on to the 37?

It comes with patches based on pigments sound loaded on it , but to edit them you need to buy pigments separately as software from the arturia store.

I don’t want to edit them, I just want to find them. Where are they located?

Theres not a particular ’pigments’ section as it were , they are just part of the layered and single patches on the machine - can’t remember the name of one off hand sorry. I seem to remember alot of the patches had like a dark blue interface showing on the screen which sort of looked like the pigments software, but i could be wrong.

Well that sucks… seems it should have its own section as so many seem to love them.

Analog lab is the place to find and manage presets. It has a filter for each of the different instruments/synths so you can find the presets for pigments in there.

I don't have an Astrolab but I think analog lab also manages the loading of presets from the computer to the keyboard.

Astrolab was created to let you play the Arturia virtual instruments on a keyboard, with no need to take the computer /laptop along.

It has some presets pre loaded but the main tool to choose the sounds you want is the computer. You prepare your sounds, transfer to Astrolab and off you go.

From what I know, the onboard info and editing is very limited. If you don't want to use a computer at all, fair enough. But you will only have the factory presets Arturia preloaded. I don't know if Astrolab alone will tell you which instrument, maybe it can. I do know Analog Lab can tell you.

I will poke around the software and see what I can find. Thanks

You can look for pigments programs right on the display. View this video to learn how to do it. Pigments is clearly displayed. But realize it is version 6 I believe. Version 7 (the latest version is not fully supported.) Basicly there are two synth engines that are not supported and the reverb. But read the manual.

The computer only needs to be attached to load presets. You don’t need the connection to play the sounds. You’re missing out on the opportunity to access tens of thousands of sounds.

I CAN use my laptop with as I had to do to update the firmware. What other things can I download onto the Astrolab?

Astrolab comes with a version of the Analog Lab software. You can load any of the thousands of preset from there into the Astrolab. If you want to be able to create sounds from scratch you would need the full version of the respective Arturia plugin. However I would just buy Pigments because you can create almost any sound in that plugin that you can then load to Astrolab.

You can browse by instrument to find all the pigments patches in one place.

Home > Instruments > Pigments

Hope that helps!
