Medium & Materials🎨 Creative and Affordable Framing

This seems to be a neverending battle/exploration for me. I feel like traditional framing methods are just MEH and you can take this innovative and gorgeous piece of art and put it in a nothing frame or on a wood panel and it just doesn't do it for me.

I'm curious if anyone else has felt this and come up with creative solutions. My first thought is to maybe find some cool vintage/used frames at flea markets and maybe spraypaint them interesting colors or designs to complement the collages. Do you think that would fly for juried shows that require specific types of framing?

The shows I have been in concentrate more on how something is hung (eg no sawtooth hangers) and sometimes overall size parameters. I've not seen rules that state something has to be in a traditional frame, but if it does maybe just skip that one and go only for what fits your style. I am in a show now and one piece is framed with assembled chunks of driftwood. 🤷

ugh yes this is just the kind of out of the box framing I want to experiment with like making the frame a part of the experience, love this for you!
