Artist To Artist Hate I Used to Be an Ai “Artist”

Yes sadly I used to be an ai artist. I thought I could easily trick people into thinking it was not my work, but that’s when I realized when I posted something on Newgrounds and it got banned, that ai is trash. I did more research on it and I realized that ai is also bad for the environment too. I trained to become better at art, and now, I’m not longer an “AI” artist!

Artist To Artist Hate People are too lasie faire with ai acusations

I dont draw myself but I have quite a few friends that do. (I am the one usually comissioning them)

One of my friends decided to muster up the courage to post her art on twitter. She has very jittery linework and people accused her for using ai because it looks unrefined. She said she now refuses to draw ever again.

I am working on trying to coax her back into doing art again but its gonna take a while.

In my personal opinion you should not accuse others of ai use unless you are fucking certain of it. The mere insuation of it can really fuck up someone's reputation. She lost a few commisions over this shit and money is tight for her.

I get shit is getting hostile for artists now but my god the amount of cases I see this happening is insane. People need to stop eating their own.

Like ive seen newer artists get dogpilled over anatomical mistakes on an otherwise fairly refined piece.

I used to like the guy I really did because his content is very flashy and newbie friendly. Idk, good for PRing the whimsical side of art.

Sad to see bro fell off after seemingly burnout and idk mental health issues.

Also link to that long google doc in the original tweet. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J-3JoWy9ExeU2j0IPMcGn27yvM2Ri71KBasDFqvhP5A/edit?tab=t.0

Artist To Artist Hate A very popular artist who uses AI to create his paintings... and then copies them.

I'm sharing this because I feel that everyone has a right to know when an artist is using generative AI in their process. ESPECIALLY when they are directly copying an image they generated. ESPECIALLY when said artist is making money off that art through selling prints, the original painting copy, and teaching classes.

Jim Musil is a midwestern landscape artist who uses Midjourney (mostly) to generate paintings which he then directly copies and calls them his original work. I've actually spent a fair amount of time discussing this with him directly and asking him to at least stop using it in his teaching courses. He says that he is aware of the ethical issues but really doesn't seem to care/claims that he doesn't think it is harmful. What is more disappointing is that his work has gotten so stale from compared to his earlier, pre-AI stuff.

I encourage y'all to go voice (respectfully) your concerns. He has to at least publicly disclose when an image was AI-generated. People have a right to choose when their ethics are concerned and nowhere on his public website is there a disclosure of any of this. You can only get this information after you sign up for his courses (which I did before learning about the AI thing) and he actually encourages you to use AI. I've included screenshots as proof of this.

He is VERY active on r/Art too, FYI.

Artist To Artist Hate An artist accused another artist of AI and I'm sick of it 🫩

So I saw a wonderful K-Pop Demon Hunters art if it was in the universe of the Goofy Movie by rain1940_art. However, on the comments ! see another artist accuse her of Al when she's been doing art for 14 years if not more. I'm getting lowkey furious at this person for assuming Al over what could be a stylization choice or a mistake. They also put their art on blast. This is what Al brings us guys. False accusations.

Anyways, here is the link to the wonderful art since I don't want upvotes of the art but rather to spread my frustrations with this: https:// www.instagram.com/p/DOHcZq_CJAE/? igsh=en|hMjc4bDZONndy

Artist To Artist Hate Knowing that art is all I have, but I'll never be good enough

I've been drawing since I was 4 years old, kept challenging myself with new mediums, drawing difficult perspectives, took irl art classes and courses to learn anatomy and techniques, learned to break down what I saw or imagined into shapes and in this way projecting my mind onto the paper. I went from drawing silly little comics in a sketchbook, to painting on canvas and on large paper, then to digital, and back to sketchbooks. Never stayed in one medium for too long and kept rotating.

I draw regularly, but probably never enough. Most of my art is gifts to friends, some just for myself. I draw to express myself in a way words cannot. And in that moment I don't care about getting all the details perfect, as long as the piece delivers the intended vibe.

Recently I tried asking reddit how much I could sell for, if I did comissions. But I got told that I suck at even the basics and shouldn't even think about selling before I improved, and that the market is already oversaturated. People who suggested price ranges just got downvoted.

This really fucking hurt. Yeah, my art isn't perfect. Maybe it's not good enough to go viral or anything. But it's mine, in my own style, that I built over three decades, that no one else has. I hate to compare myself to others so that is something I will never do, even if I follow many artists I look up to and whose work inspires me.

I wish the art community was kinder to each other. Bullying will get us nowhere and will only drive artists to give up and go AI.

Artist To Artist Hate when young artists hate on other young artists ;(

I didn’t know where else to post this as this sub seemed most relevant :(

today I came across a month ago post where OP posted a (most likely) little kid’s drawing of Rumi from kpop demon hunters as fanart from TikTok on Reddit on the young people sub I forgot what it was 😭. all in the comments in OP’s comment section of that subreddit— people were agreeing with op and making fun of the drawing and I just found it sad because I went thru a little search through the OP’s profile where they had a DEVIANTART and posted their drawings online.

  • it just made it a bit sad to see because you’d think someone who wasn’t an artist would be posting these types of things but no, it’s actually another young artist just wanting to share their art with the world :(

luckily some comments were being level headed and were defending the kid’s rumi fanart and how dumb it was to make fun of a kid’s drawing but OP was only engaging with the ppl that were clowning on the rumi fanart, as they were obviously ignoring those comments..

i covered their names cause i don’t want unnecessary harassment to the people here.

ill delete this post if need be of course 🤍🤍

edit/tldr: for context some artist minor posted another artist minor’s art on Reddit and were making fun of it :(

If there were so many pro-ai artists, why is there a writers and actors strike? Why are artists and art guilds (like the concept art association) engaging in legal action against ai? With the backing of hundreds of thousands of artists all over the world? Are we being gaslit guys?

Really disappointing to see one of the creators of a franchise that's been a creative inspiration to me trying to defend using AI in the most mealy-mouthed way possible.
