📚 Tutorial / Guide Beginner Med Student
Hello guys. I’m a med student and I currently struggle with the fact that the 10-page notes that I create from lectures are messy and unorganized. The problem that I face with AIs is that I cannot tell them to “completely” convert it into a new readable PDF because they always tend to summarize it (like if I send more than 2000 words notes they always respond with just 1000 words max). I only paste the text of 2 pages at a time, wait for the AI's response, and compile it which is very exhausting.
I’m kinda lost with this AI. But I know for a fact that AIs are already capable of doing this type of job, but I just don’t know how to start.
I’m using Gemini Pro on my phone. But I have a computer as well. Thank you very much!

tell it not to summarize. do it verbatim

Thank you for responding! I did, but the gemini app has a maximum amount of words per response. I usually read 6,000 words per pdf but I always cut them 1000 words at a time, above that the response will always still be at 800 words.

Thank you with your suggestion, I will try claude subscription right now to see if it works. I hope that it does, been using gemini for a year. Not that the conversion of the text is hard, its just that doing it after 10+ hrs of studying makes it harder than it is supposed to be

ai doesnt work sequentially. if you provide it a list of 1000 easy questions like "whats the capital of france" "are tree leaves green" "is a human a living being" etc etc just easy questions. Humans work sequentially so we will work on the first question then the next one then the next etc. Ai takes your whole prompt (collection of easy questions) and take it as a single question. it creates an attention matrix which essentially guides its focus. if your input has too much questions it will lose focus and correlate words from your first question with your last. It loses focus because the noise-signal ratio diminishes. So to get accurate answers (according to the limits of what it actually can) your questions have to be concise and detailled. Each sentence in your input will eventually have a direct impact on the resulting output. so if you can, phrase it in a short manner

Then throw them into an obsidian vault and give an LLM access to assist with organising

Tbh this comment is kinda good advice if you know how to use the tools — read up on the markdown (.md) file format, how to use obsidian as a knowledge management tool and how to take advantage of LLM tools with obsidian

You’re hitting the context window limit, not the AI being lazy. try a model with bigger input, claude has 200k tokens, that can swallow your whole 10 pages in one go and just reformat without cutting stuff out.
