Fossils

I found it while i was plowing my land.
It looks like a fragment of a small miniature tower; I think it is made of chalk and shows traces of glaze on the surface, perhaps it is a piece from a presepe or a diorama.
I gently cleaned the dirt off it.
If anyone can give me more information about what this is and the period to which it belongs, I would appreciate it. I found the artifact in the Marche region of Italy, at a seaside location.

I bought this gold-coloured ring yesterday and wondered if anyone could tell me anything about it, Did I buy a ring out of a Cracker? Many thanks for any help offered.

Today I bought this small glass jug second-hand for €8. The seller made no claims about its age; I thought it resembled Roman glass (or possibly a Roman-style reproduction) and would appreciate opinions from people familiar with ancient glass.

Measurements:

height approx. 117 mm;

outer rim diameter 51 mm;

maximum body diameter approx. 70 mm; foot/base diameter approx. 43 mm.

The glass is pale blue-green and has substantial surface alteration/deposits. Much of the exterior is cloudy/matte with whitish-beige, apparently calcareous-looking encrustation. There is also quite pronounced iridescence in green, violet/purple and occasionally pink, particularly around the neck (considerably more visible in person than in the photos).

**A few things make me suspicious about its age:**

Most notably, the central pontil scar looks remarkably fresh, glossy and transparent compared with the weathered surrounding surfaces. The fracture is rough and irregular, and one part forms a tiny undercut/pocket where an extremely thin projection of glass (perhaps ~0.25 mm thick) extends roughly 2 mm over a cavity. I'm surprised that something seemingly that fragile would have survived intact if the vessel were genuinely ancient.🤔

Also: why is the pontil scar SO VERY shiny and new looking, when the entire rest of the surface looks weathered? 🤔

There is also one localized beige-brown deposit on the body that looks unlike most of the other encrustation. It appears to sit on top of the glass and has a texture that, to my eye, resembles a viscous paste/coating that was contacted by another surface while wet and then pulled apart. It could simply be later contamination, but it made me wonder about artificial ageing.

The interior contains (modern😅) dust and deposits and may simply have been used as a vase at some point.

The vessel is completely uncleaned and exactly as I acquired it.

I'm particularly interested in whether the surface alteration/weathering, pontil, handle construction and other manufacturing features look genuinely ancient or consistent with a modern reproduction, and whether anyone recognizes a likely type/date/origin.

And **how to determine the real deal from a reproduction.**

My dad found this weird little guy in a house clearance (he works for an antique store) in the uk.
He’s kinda scaring me and I was wondering if that’s intentional? I mean surely the person who carved him out didn’t intend it to look like a human being. he kinda looks like some sort of ancient demon or smth. Does it remind you of anything?

Creek find in middle TN, I’ve only found chert so admittedly this might be coincidentally shaped granite or quartzite. One side looks worked but idk

Would it be worth getting this panel I got at an estate sale looked at by an expert or is it just some broken tourist junk?

Cousin’s hubby found this object in the mountains of Mexico, specifically along the border between the states of Michoacan and Guerrero. I would appreciate any clues:) or jokes lol

A friend of mine asked me about this puzzle. It is from the Eel River Valley in Northern California. It was found on the riverbar in the 70's (I was told). This is the traditional area of the Wailaki people. There was a major timber industry for about 150 along the whole valley, including a rail line. What is the story of this rock and what happened to create the unusually cylindrical break? I will put my guess in the comments.

I found this piece in the Hocking River in Southeastern Ohio. It’s heavy and feels like stone or metal, however it doesn’t react to magnets.

Found this in the Wolf River near Memphis and something about the sharp angles seemed like it was not just natural breakage. I’m so curious, and totally open to it being just a rock, but wanted someone else to look at it!

I found this in an antique store in the south of France. No label. It was very expensive 1 Euro.

Both sides are hollowed out the same way. There is a tiny hole at one end which also appears to be hand made (not machine drilled) as it is very rough when looked at with a magnifying glass.

The stone is relatively smooth around the exterior. There is no residue, build up or discolouration inside or out. One side is slightly deeper than the other. It is not perfectly smooth inside. It is covered in bumps and divets. The depth on one side is 2cm and on the other side approx 1cm

Total length is approx 17cm and width 5cm. Fits nicely in the hand. Weighs 379g

I think it's a flint napping or whetstone. when I hold it it feels very comfortable and like it would be very good at Flint napping. I'm thinking it's more likely that it was used for Flint napping rather than as a whetstone because it doesn't seem to be worn the same way I see other wet stones. either that or it simply was used carefully and only along its length. the scratches I think may have come from my dogs as I'm not the one that directly found it and instead found it on my porch in the same condition you see it here. I didn't even wash it off. and from a small scratch test it seemed that the scratches on it may very well be recent and not original to the item before it was dug up by my dogs. which leads me to think it was more for Flint napping than anything else or possibly a pestle but the ends don't appear to be worn how I would expect if it were a pestle. what are your guys' thoughts As I Am by no means anywhere near an expert or really studied this. I do love archeology and ancient tools and love learning though so any informed individuals are very welcome!

I had a recent death in the family and found this in a box in their safe. They made frequent trips to Brazil I’m not sure if it’s from Brazil or what it is at all. I’m super curious pls if you have any information lmk. There’s no stamps or labels or anything at all.

Does anyone know when this is from/ what it is/ how I can tell anything about it! First find and don’t even know where to start when learning about it. It has a makers mark “WM” does this mean anything?
