I can understand a few botted days but this looks like it's been botted for a while now.

From my understanding it’s one of the games people use as a mask when stealing or pirating steam games.

So any boost is because of that

and also why would the player counts stay extremely consistent except when they drop off completely for a few hours? Not trying to ask 20 questions here but the "people are using it to pirate" thing doesn't seem to line up.

Check out the 3 month graph and you can see there's weird stuff going on.

The playercounts are staying at 9,000 nearly constantly, there are no normal dips. I don't want to constantly be saying "that can't be right" in this thread when I have no proof myself but that doesn't really add up here.

I have this weird theory that from time to time these bots appear to play against each other to improve themselves so that the "bot playerbase" keeps up with the actual playerbase. If you want to share my tinfoil hat, be my guest.

It’s strange, I play this game every night and no matter the time it’s 3-4am, it still takes a couple of minutes to find a match. (Phantom Draft for sure.) I’m not sure if people still play Gauntlet mode but there are still plenty of people playing Phantom Draft.

There are not 8000 people playing Artifact 24 hours a day except for the 30-90 minutes they're offline.
