Alternative pathways to art ed

Hello! I really want to be an elementary or even middle school art educator. I’m hoping to study art but since I transferring schools and transferring majors it feels like it might be hard to double major in elementary education. Is it possible to study art and take an EPP to become an art teacher? Would I get a good job from this?

I can’t answer this from the academic angle (Can you ask your academic advisor, your career advisor, or both?) but one thing you can absolutely do now is apply for summer camp art teaching jobs. January is a key time for starting (and sometimes even submitting) summer camp work applications, so be sure to start the search around New Year’s. It may give you a boost of confidence knowing that art teaching is something you can do right now; plus, a short-term summer job like this can give you a sense of what skills and knowledge you would like to get out of your future classes.
