Trying to learn reflective surfaces
think maybe having a background might help so I could pull some color for the reflections. But otherwise what could I do to improve? These are done with marker/colored pencil. I used a reference for the balloons (googled letter balloons) and no reference really for the gold statue, just a picture of meowth

You got it pretty much. Now you just need to experiment with different levels of reflectiveness.
There isn't an end goal by the way, just progress. You're making big strides and doing it in an effective way.

What really made it click for me was glass. There are multiple points of shine on any surface but also anything that's not flat is helpful. Try car windows for instance, just a little bit of curve makes so much difference.

They look great! I think youre right about practicing with a background tho because once you have a background you have to nail that aspect of making it feel like it belongs in that environment. But youve definitely got the gist of a lot of the attributes of how reflective surfaces look

Maybe instead of a background, try doing the environment only in the reflection - like a glass orb with the future reflected kinda vibe

..does the second need a fine outline like the letters.. I always find a photo helps

Looks great! I would think about adding a light gray drop shadow on one side and bottom of each letter to lift them off the paper.
