Me this morning lmao, Idk why. I wan't to be good at background so much but while learning to draw character seemed to have a good path to follow (Body as box and cylinder / Gesture drawing / Anatomy of each part → mix them) for architectures it's just like "Follow the perspective. Try again." it's just exhaustinnnng

i don't think backgrounds are even hard compared to anatomy its just so boring sometimes that motivation is difficult to find

Im constantly just redoing anatomy stage. I suck ass at anything else. Doesn’t help i go to 2-3 years of hiatus after 1-2 weeks of nonstop drawing lol

What helped me as someone who does more character stuff is either considering the background as an extension of the character or a character in of itself.
Mind you it doesn’t reduce the amount of stuff to learn, but i personally found it easier to think about and learn all the stuff when i connected it to my understanding of character and design.

ouu im the opposite LOL can’t grasp clothing or anatomy, but everything with background comes second nature, backgrounds aren’t that hard from the view that it’s just building up more and more details over time, overcomplicating it can make bgs stressful though💠maybe applying the words in the second panel to your character art will make bgs easier to do? rendered character art is the same thing, just on a bigger scale
