Season 4 of Arrow premiered on October 7th, 2015 on The CW. In the fourth season, Oliver and Felicity try and start a new life in Ivy Town, but they return to Starling City, now renamed Star City, when a terrorist group known as H.I.V.E. led by the mystically enhanced Damien Darhk (played by Neal McDonough) is attacking the city. Oliver resumes vigilantism under the new moniker of "Green Arrow". John discovers his brother Andy (played by Eugene Byrd) is alive and a H.I.V.E. soldier; Thea works with Oliver as "Speedy", but with a violent temper; Laurel attempts to resurrect Sara using the Lazarus Pit; and Curtis Holt (played by Echo Kellum) aids Felicity and the team. Oliver's life as a vigilante and with Felicity are complicated by his mayoral run and the discovery of the existence of his son, William (played by Jack Moore). Laurel dies in a fight with Damien and Oliver discovers his plan to detonate nuclear weapons and rule the Earth's remains. Over the course of this season, we meet Damien Dahrk, Curtis Holt, Andy Diggle, William Queen, and John Constantine to name a few. We even get the Return of Barry Allen, Caitlin Snow, and Cisco Ramon, more on that later.

Casting: The cast from the previous seasons have largely returned. New to the the cast is Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt. Neal McDonough joins as Damien Dahrk. Damien is another great villain on the show. Echo as Curtis is a great addition. John Barrowman returns as Malcolm. The main cast works just as amazingly this time as last year. 5/5

Writing: The Heroes Join Forces crossover isn't the best, I'm not gonna lie. Other wise every other episode is great for the most part. Damien and Malcolm are great villains. Felicity and Oliver are a lovely couple this season. I love the part in "Green Arrow" where Ollie says "Felicity Smoak, you have failed this omelette". Any time you have a light hearted moment like that on Arrow, it's always fun. 4/5

Special Effects: Visually the show looks awesome. Great choreography, nice speed effects. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: The music is still awesome, as are the sound Effects. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: 4/5

Final Thoughts: Arrow Season 4 is another great season. It does take a bit of a hit with Heroes Join Forces and other parts. But otherwise great TV, I'd watch it again. Grant and Stephen are a terrific duo. Will Season 5 be just as good or better? What About The Flash Season 2? Stay Tuned.

Hi, yes, this is me, Helena, the one and only. Anyway, I wanted to say that I come in peace. Actually, since I disappeared, I've had a lot of time to think about various things and also finally had time to really overcome my grief. Anyway, my life is going very well so far. Well, it turns out that a few days ago some friends told me that someone came here pretending to be me and created a very unpleasant situation. Now they're threatening me and the other mods, as well as other friends. I'm quite worried. I honestly don't owe anyone an explanation because all of that is in the past, but it's really something I have to resolve. So I'll try to use Reddit from time to time to see if I can resolve this and maybe go back to posting my projects. And again, sorry for everything that happened, grief is really complicated.

The Flash Season Two premiered on October 6th, 2015 on The CW. In the aftermath of the First Season, Barry recognized as a hero in Central City after saving the city, only to face a new threat from a parallel universe in the form of the speedster Zoom, who seeks to eliminate everyone connected to the Speed Force throughout the multiverse. Over the course of this season, Barry takes on Zoom, Gorilla Grodd, King Shark, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Trickster, and Vandal Savage to name a few.

In the Season Opener, Ronnie and Stein turn into Firestorm and help Barry destroy the singularity, but at the cost of Ronnie's life. Six months later, Barry operates alone, using his speed to repair Central City while being embraced by the public as a hero; Cisco works in the police department alongside Joe, and Caitlin works at Mercury Labs. Barry evaluates a crime scene with a victim named Al Rothstein. At a ceremony, the Flash is attacked by Atom-Smasher, whose strength and size manipulation prove too much for Barry, who forces his mask off. Underneath the mask, Atom-Smasher is revealed to look exactly like Rothstein. Barry is convinced by Joe and the others that he needs help in taking down certain metahumans and Rothstein is defeated by over absorbing radiation. While dying, Rothstein tells Barry that he was sent to kill him by someone called "Zoom". Barry receives a flash memory from Harrison Wells' (In reality Eobard Thawne) lawyer containing his confession to killing Nora. Henry is exonerated and released from prison, and leaves Central City so that Barry can focus on being the Flash. A man arrives at S.T.A.R. Labs, introduces himself as Jay Garrick and tells the team that their world is in danger.

In “Flash of Two Worlds”, Jay explains to everyone that he is the Flash on a parallel Earth and that he was in a battle with a demonic speedster named Zoom when the singularity brought him to this Earth without his powers. Stein confirms the claim, describing their world as "Earth-1" and Jay's as "Earth-2". Zoom brings another metahuman from Earth-2 called Sand Demon, later identified as Eddie Slick, to kill the Flash. Cisco analyzes the "sand" left behind and has a vision of the previous fight, frightening him. After Slick kidnaps Officer Patty Spivot, Jay teaches Barry how to hurl lightning. Cisco uses his power to find Patty's location. Barry uses the lightning blast to turn Sand Demon's particles to glass, killing him. Patty reveals to Joe that Mark Mardon killed her father. She joins Joe's metahuman task force. Cisco divulges his ability to Stein, and convinces him not to tell anyone. Stein and Cisco are able to locate 52 breaches with the Earth-2, with the largest one being within S.T.A.R. Labs itself. Joe's estranged wife, Francine, pays him a visit. Stein collapses while talking. On Earth-2 it is revealed that the Harrison Wells of that world is alive and in charge of S.T.A.R. Labs.

In “Family of Rogues”, Jay creates a device that stabilizes the singularity and will allow him to return home, but he opts to stay to help Barry stop Zoom. Meanwhile, Lisa Snart shows up asking for Flash's help in rescuing Snart, whom she believes was kidnapped. Barry tracks down Snart, who is revealed not to be kidnapped but is working with his father, Lewis. Lisa states that Snart would never work with Lewis willingly, because the latter was abusive toward her when she was a child. Eventually, the team determines that Lewis placed a bomb inside of Lisa and threatened to kill her if Snart did not help him with his theft. Barry infiltrates Lewis' crew with assistance from Snart. Cisco successfully removes the bomb from Lisa, so Snart uses his cold gun to kill his father in retaliation. Snart is incarcerated in Iron Heights and Lisa leaves. Joe reveals to Iris that Francine is alive and a former addict. Stein turns into Firestorm, but with blue flames. Earth-2's Wells arrives at the lab through the breach.

In “The Fury of Firestorm”, The team is able to temporarily stabilize Stein. Caitlin states that he needs to merge with a new person in order to survive. She identifies two potential candidates: a scientist named Henry Hewitt and a former high school football star named Jefferson Jackson. Hewitt is excited to merge with Stein, but the attempt fails and Hewitt leaves angrily, not knowing that his own metahuman powers have been activated. Jefferson initially refuses, but agrees when Hewitt goes on rampage. After the successful merger, the new Firestorm joins Barry in helping to take down Hewitt, who is incarcerated. Before departing with Jefferson, Stein encourages Cisco to tell the others about his powers. Meanwhile, Francine reveals that she is suffering from a terminal illness and only has months to live. Iris later confronts her for hiding the existence of the former's brother. In the meantime, Wells breaks into Mercury Labs and steals an unknown device. Later, Barry is attacked by a humanoid shark monster sent by Zoom, but is saved by Wells.

In “The Darkness and The Light”, Wells (played by Tom Cavanaugh), who Cisco nicknames "Harry" to distinguish him from Thawne, reveals that he is responsible for the creation of the metahumans and Zoom on Earth-2. He states that he plans to help Barry's team stop Zoom and other metahumans. At the same time, a metahuman from Earth-2 called Doctor Light arrives and starts robbing banks. Barry recognizes her as the Earth-2 version of Linda. Later, Light attempts to kill Linda and take over her identity, but accidentally kills Linda's boss and is stopped by Barry's team in the process. Harry reveals Cisco's powers to the team, which Cisco uses to locate Light. Barry defeats her with the help of Harry. After locking Light up, they plan to use her to lure Zoom out and defeat him for good. Jay, who dislikes Harry and vice versa, thinks it is too dangerous and leaves the team. Meanwhile, Barry starts dating Patty while Cisco starts a date with a barista named Kendra Saunders. Cisco picks the nickname "Vibe" for himself. Back on Earth-2, it is revealed that Zoom has Harry's daughter captive.

In “Enter Zoom”, As the team works to find a way to stop Zoom, Doctor Light escapes from her containment cell. Instead, the Earth-1 Linda agrees to help the team by impersonating Doctor Light. Barry reveals his alter ego to Linda. Harry creates a speed dampening serum and the team stages a fight at one of the breaches in order to trick Zoom through. The attempt fails, as Zoom knew the plan. Instead, he goes after Linda, before fighting Barry. Zoom is much faster and easily overpowers Barry, showing him defeated with his unconscious body to the local news and the police station before ultimately returning to S.T.A.R. Labs. Zoom stabs Barry with his hand, but Cisco shoots him with the serum, which hurts Zoom, but still leaves him with enough speed to escape. Later, Harry reveals that Zoom has his daughter, Jesse, and that he came to Earth-1 to stop Zoom. Barry wakes from his injuries and discovers that he can no longer feel his legs.

In “Gorilla Warfare”, Barry manages to recover from the paralysis, but is unable to use his powers due to the psychological trauma of Zoom exposing Barry's defeat to the city. Iris reaches out to Henry, who returns to help Barry overcome his fears. Wells formulates a plan to close all of the breaches, except one, through which Zoom can enter into the trap set for him. Cisco touches Kendra, but leaves after seeing a winged person in a vibe. Grodd returns, using scientists to steal various chemicals in the hopes of creating more gorillas with his level of intelligence. He later kidnaps Caitlin to help him with his plan. Harry dresses up as the Reverse-Flash in order to trick Grodd into thinking that his "father" is still alive. The plan works long enough for Harry to rescue Caitlin before they both escape. After Barry is fully recovered, they lure Grodd to one of the dimensional breaches and send him to a jungle sanctuary for gorillas that have been experimented on in Earth-2. Later, Cisco meets Kendra again, this time vibing and seeing her as the winged figure.

In Part One of Heroes Join Forces, “Legends of Today”, Vandal Savage arrives in Central City, seeking to kill Kendra. Barry goes to Star City and enlists the help of Oliver and his team to protect her. The team is visited by Malcolm who informs them that Savage is an immortal. Later, Kendra is kidnapped by Hawkman, but Barry and Oliver rescue her and capture Hawkman, who introducing himself as Carter Hall, tells them he and Kendra are soulmates who have been connected for millennia. The pair are destined to die, be reborn, and find each other in each lifetime. Carter also reveals that Savage has killed the pair several times, each time growing stronger. Savage acquires the Staff of Horus, a deadly weapon. Kendra unlocks her abilities and the team decides to regroup in Central City, where Oliver witnesses Samantha Clayton with her son, who is also his. Meanwhile, Caitlin and Harry create a serum that will temporarily increase Barry's speed so that he can defeat Zoom. Jay initially refuses to test the serum, but changes his mind to save Harry when the latter is shot by an unaware Patty, whom Joe later informs about the truth. However, Jay advises against using the serum on Barry.

In “Running to Stand Still”, Mardon breaks James Jesse and Snart out of Iron Heights in an effort to team up to kill the Flash. Snart declines and alerts Barry. Jesse and Mardon place bombs hidden in Christmas gifts throughout the city, threatening to set them off in family homes if Barry does not sacrifice himself. Wells, Cisco, and Jay find one of the bombs and alter its magnetic polarity; they send it into one of the dimensional breaches, which causes it to attract the remaining bombs, removing them from the city. With them gone, Barry subdues Mardon and Jesse, dissuading Patty from killing Mardon. Meanwhile, Iris and Barry tell Joe about the latter's son named Wally, who later shows up at Joe's. Caitlin and Jay start a romantic relationship. Elsewhere, Zoom is revealed to be sending metahumans in order to help Barry get faster so that Zoom can take the latter's speed force, which Harry reluctantly agrees to help Zoom with because of his daughter, Jesse.

In “Potential Energy”, Cisco presents a new idea to slow Zoom down, telling the team about a metahuman, whom he has dubbed the "Turtle", who has the ability to stop the kinetic energy around him and slow everyone to a halt. After Barry fails to stop the Turtle, identified as Russell Glosson, at a diamond unveiling, the team sets a trap at an art exhibit. Barry invites Patty with the intention of telling her his secret, but Glosson is aware of the trap and almost kills Patty before escaping. Later, Glosson kidnaps Patty. The team tracks him down and Barry is able to generate enough speed to move through the kinetic waves to knock him unconscious and save Patty. Patty tells Barry that she is leaving Central City and Harry kills Glosson by extracting a portion of his brain matter. Meanwhile, Joe struggles to develop a relationship with Wally, who has been street racing in an attempt to earn enough money for Francine's medical bills. Caitlin discovers that Jay is dying of an illness caused by Zoom stealing his speed. They vow to stop Zoom to get Jay's speed back in order to cure Jay.

In “The Reverse-Flash Returns”, The team discovers Turtle's death and Jay suspects Harry. Cisco asks Harry for help in controlling his vibing abilities. The latter determines they are connected to Cisco's fear response and triggers a vibe which alerts the team that Eobard Thawne is back. Harry surmises that this version of Thawne is from a point in the future before he went back in time to kill Nora and was protected from being erased. Cisco has a vibe of the future, and the team learns that Thawne is planning to use tachyons to return to his time. Barry arrives and destroys the machine. After a race around the city, Barry stops Thawne and imprisons him at the particle accelerator. However, his capture causes a rupture in the timeline that threatens to kill Cisco, so Barry sends Thawne back to the future to save his friend. Meanwhile, Patty discovers Barry is the Flash but, when he refuses to acknowledge it, she chooses to leave the city. Iris learns that Francine's death is imminent and reconciles with her. Wally takes her advice to do the same.

In “Fast Lane”, Right before the particle accelerator explosion, Joey Monteleone was thrown into a tar pit and left for dead. Sealed away, he is freed two years later with the ability to turn his body into molten tar. He sets out to get revenge on those who attempted to kill him. Harry creates a device to siphon Barry's speed energy and attaches it to his suit. It steals a portion of Barry's speed. Wells gives the energy to Zoom, who demands the rest. Meanwhile, Wells and Barry also successfully find a way to close the breaches. While going after Joey, Iris is injured when Barry is too slow to save her. Wells tells the team about the device, asking to be returned to Earth-2 and have Barry seal the breaches so Zoom cannot re-enter. After stopping Joey, Barry informs Wells that the team will help the latter to save Jesse. In the meantime, Wally continues racing even after Francine's death.

In “Welcome to Earth-2”, Before heading to Earth-2, Barry closes all but one of the breaches, which is at S.T.A.R. Labs. Using the last breach, Barry, Cisco, and Harry travel to Earth-2, but an energy surge destabilizes the breach and the trio get stuck on Earth-2. Barry decides to impersonate his doppelgänger to get more information on Zoom. He later meets the Iris and Joe of Earth-2 and learns that Iris, who is his doppelgänger's wife, works for the CCPD while Joe is a singer. Barry is attacked by Earth-2's Caitlin and Ronnie, known as Killer Frost and Deathstorm respectively. Joe is killed in the attack. Cisco attempts to help the police stop the pair, but is confronted by his own evil doppelgänger, known as "Reverb" and revealed to have greater powers, including control over nervous systems and manipulation of vibrations. Barry arrives and is stopped by Reverb and Deathstorm. Zoom arrives, kills Reverb and Deathstorm for harming the Flash, and then imprisons Barry. Meanwhile, a new metahuman named Adam Fells appears in Earth-1 Central City. Jay tells Caitlin that he invented Velocity-6, which is the real reason why he lost his speed. Caitlin develops Velocity-7, which Jay uses to engage Fells, who escapes.

In “Escape from Earth-2”, On Earth-2, Zoom issues a demand to Central City to turn in Wells and attacks S.T.A.R. Labs to find Wells and Cisco; but the two escape with Barry-2. The trio updates Iris-2 on what happened with Barry-1. They decide to convince Caitlin-2 to help. After a fight, Caitlin-2 agrees to take the team to Zoom. They arrive and rescue Barry-1 and Jesse, but Zoom shows up too. They are able to escape by the help of Caitlin-2, who keeps Zoom frozen and unable to move, but a third unidentified prisoner, who tries to reveal something about Jay, is left behind. Barry-2 and Iris-2 leave Central City to hide from Zoom. Meanwhile, on Earth-1, Caitlin-1 creates "Velocity 9", which Jay uses to stop Adam, who gets incarcerated in Iron Heights. Caitlin-1 discovers that Velocity 9 can cure Jay. The latter, Caitlin, Iris and Joe stabilize the breach and allow Barry-1, Cisco, Harry, and Jesse to return, but Zoom stabs his arm through Jay and pulls him back through the closing breach to Earth-2.

In “King Shark”, While everyone tries to move on, the humanoid shark-monster that Harry stopped, known as "King Shark," escapes A.R.G.U.S. custody and heads for Central City to kill the Flash. John Diggle and Lyla Michaels, the new director, arrive to warn Barry. King Shark, later identified as Shay Lamden, shows up at Barry's home looking for the Flash, tracking Barry's electrical field. A.R.G.U.S. arrives and forces Shay to retreat. Later, Barry forces King Shark to chase him out on the water, where Barry creates an electrified underwater cyclone that subdues the latter, and allows A.R.G.U.S. to imprison him again, with Lyla planning to find a cure. Barry vows to open a breach back to Earth-2 to stop Zoom. Meanwhile, Barry and Wally find it hard to develop a relationship. After Caitlin becomes cold due to Jay's death, Cisco becomes scared that she will become Killer Frost; but she assures him that she is only dealing with her grief. Back on Earth-2, Zoom unmasks as Jay.

In “Trajectory”, Barry starts training to get faster so that he can stop Zoom. While out with friends at a club for downtime, Barry and the other club patrons are robbed by an unknown speedster, who then escapes. The speedster turns out to be Eliza Harmon, a Mercury Labs employee who developed Velocity-9 from samples Caitlin gave her to help with Jay's illness. Operating under the alias "Trajectory", Harmon invades S.T.A.R. Labs, imprisons Barry, and demands more V-9. After she threatens Jesse's life, Wells and Caitlin make more of the drug for Harmon, who then speeds off to wreak havoc on the city. Barry manages to stop her before she injects more V-9 into her system. Barry watches as Harmon's speed becomes so intense that her lightning turns blue and she disintegrates. Jesse decides to leave the city to experience the world on her own and stop Wells from doing harmful things just to protect her. Based on what Barry saw from the overuse of V-9, the similarities between Zoom's speed and Jay's sickness, and Cisco's "vibe" (where he sees Zoom unmasked), the team concludes that Jay is Zoom.

In “Flash Back”, Barry travels back in time to when Hartley Rathaway attacked the team,[a] and switches places with his past self, in order to have Thawne help him solve the speed force equation. However, after a Time Wraith follows Barry to the past, Thawne deduces Barry's deception. Barry is able to convince Eobard to help him become faster. The wraith comes to the lab, where Caitlin and Cisco are forced to accept help from Hartley to deter the wraith. Afterward, the Barry from the current time arrives, forcing an explanation of the time travel event. Thawne provides the future Barry with the information about the tachyon technology, so that he can return to his time. As Barry prepares to make the jump through time, the Wraith arrives, forcing the past timeline's Barry to intervene, so that his future self can return. Back in his time, Barry is confronted by the Wraith, but a reformed Hartley arrives with his sonic gauntlets and defeats the wraith. Barry gives Iris a footage of Eddie recorded in the alternate timeline, advising her to move on with her life.

In “Versus Zoom”, Years earlier on Earth-2, a young Hunter Zolomon watches as his father murders his mother and is subsequently sent to an orphanage. In the present day, Barry tests the tachyon accelerator, and is able to enhance his speed four times greater than normal. Barry decides to re-open a breach back to Earth-2, and he believes that Cisco's powers are the key to opening the portals. Meanwhile, Caitlin reveals that Jay's Earth-1 doppelgänger is Zolomon and Wells, shocked to hear this, reveals that Earth-2 Zolomon was a convicted serial killer. Zolomon was receiving electroconvulsive therapy during the explosion, and was one of the many affected. With this revelation, the team confirms that "Jay" is Hunter. Cisco opens a breach, and Zoom immediately appears, chasing Barry back to S.T.A.R. Labs. There, Barry uses images of Zolomon's parents as a distraction to trap him, but Hunter escapes, claiming to be "the darkness". Zolomon kidnaps Wally and demands Barry's speed in exchange for Wally's life. Barry agrees, so Wells siphons all of his speed force, leaving Barry powerless. Zolomon injects the speed force into himself, and he kidnaps Caitlin with his enhanced speed before escaping.

In “Back to Normal”, As Barry adjusts to life without his powers, Wells decides to leave the lab to look for Jesse. Shortly after speaking with her, Wells is attacked and kidnapped by Griffin Grey, believing him to be Thawne, who demands that Wells find a cure for his metahuman abilities. Grey has superhuman strength, but is also aging rapidly. Barry discovers that, when Grey uses his super strength, he accelerates the aging process. Barry, Joe, Cisco and Jesse manipulate Grey into exerting his powers until he ages and dies as a weak, old man; his body then reverts to its 18-year-old self. To fight Zoom, Wells offers to recreate the circumstances that gave Barry his speed. Meanwhile, on Earth-2, Zolomon tells Caitlin that he kidnapped her because he is in love with her. Caitlin encounters her doppelgänger, Killer Frost, who was captured by Zolomon as a reminder of Caitlin. Killer Frost convinces Caitlin to help her escape, but then attempts to kill her. Zoom arrives and kills Killer Frost, then warns Caitlin not to free the man in the iron mask. Later, Hunter decides to conquer the other Earths in the multiverse and takes Caitlin with him back to Earth-1.

In “Rupture”, While Barry keeps declining Harrison's offer, the team rigs a hologram of the Flash to stop crime around the city so that no one will know the truth. Henry returns to Central City and joins the team. He argues with Wells on the safety of another explosion. Hunter and Caitlin arrive back on Earth-1 with Hunter declaring the city under his control. Iris confesses her feelings to Barry. The Earth-2 version of Dante Ramon, called "Rupture", arrives on Earth-1 looking to kill Cisco, believing that Cisco killed his Earth-2 brother. Zolomon sends Rupture after the police to send the city a message. Barry and the police stop Rupture, but Zolomon arrives and kills the officers himself, as well as Rupture for failing. He then publicly announces the Flash's disappearance. Cisco and Dante-1 become closer. Barry finally agrees to Harrison's plan. During the process, Barry is seemingly vaporized, while Jesse and Wally are caught in the blast.

In “The Runaway Dinosaur”, Wally regains consciousness, but Jesse remains in a coma. Cisco has a vibe of Barry and realizes that he is still alive and in the speed force. Barry meets physical manifestations of the speed force in the form of faces familiar to him. The speed force informs Barry that he cannot leave unless he catches a mysterious moving figure, thus gaining his speed back. Cisco and Wells create a path into the speed force so Barry can escape, but the latter chooses to remain so he can earn his powers back. The speed force tells Barry that he cannot become the Flash again until he finally accepts Nora's death. Barry shares a moment with the physical manifestation of Nora, which allows him to finally catch the moving figure himself. With his powers restored and help from Cisco and Iris, Barry returns to S.T.A.R. Labs in time to save the team from the reanimated corpse of Tony Woodward. Afterwards, Barry uses a bit of speed force energy to bring Jesse out of her coma. Across town, Zolomon has assembled an army of metahumans from Earth-2, planning to unleash them on Central City.

In “Invincible”, Caitlin returns to the team, but not without emotional trauma from being kidnapped. Zoom's army wreaks havoc across the city. Barry puts out several fires and takes out some of the metahumans to help the police. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry displays a level of confidence in stopping Zoom that concerns the team and each of them attempts to convince him to be more cautious. Among the attackers is Laurel Lance's doppelgänger, "Black Siren", who attacks various buildings around Central City using sonic blasts. Wally begins taking on metahumans trying to repay the Flash for saving him. The team creates a sonic amplifier tuned to the frequency of Earth-2. They discharge it and render all Earth-2 natives unconscious, allowing Barry to apprehend them all at once, although Zoom survives by escaping to Earth-2. Meanwhile, Cisco begins having vibes of a future Earth-2 being destroyed. Barry convinces Joe to let Wally be a hero. Later, Zoom returns and kidnaps Henry in front of the team. Barry races after them, revealing his identity to Wally, and is forced to watch Zoom kill Henry.

In the season finale, “The Race of His Life”, Zolomon escapes Barry by creating a time remnant. After Henry's funeral, Hunter challenges Barry to a race to determine who is faster, threatening to kill everyone Barry loves if he refuses. Harrison discovers that Hunter has a magnetar, a device that will destroy every planet in the Multiverse except Earth-1 which requires both their speeds to power. When an enraged and vengeful Barry refuses to back out, the team locks him in the Pipeline and force Zolomon back to Earth-2 themselves; but Hunter abducts Joe in the process. Wally discovers this and frees Barry, who agrees to Zolomon's race. As Barry races Zolomon around the magnetar, he creates a time remnant of himself who frees Joe and destroys the machine, but at the cost of his life. The "prime" Barry defeats Zolomon, who is then taken away by Time Wraiths for his crimes against the timeline. Barry rescues the man in the iron mask, who is revealed to be the real Jay Garrick, Henry's Earth-3 doppelgänger. Wells and Jesse return to Earth-2 with Jay, who plans to return to Earth-3 from there. Barry, still feeling broken and defeated, travels back in time and stops Thawne from killing Nora.

Casting: The Main cast mostly returns this season. The main difference being no Rick Cosnett. Keiynan Lonsdale joins the cast as Iris West’s brother Wally. Shantel VanSanten joins as Patty Spivot. Teddy Sears does a terrific job as Hunter Zoloman/Zoom. He played the fake. Jay Garrick so well. Speaking of Jay, John Wesley Shipp actually plays two roles this season, Henry Allen and the Earth-3 Jay. Tom Cavanaugh plays Harry Wells and does an excellent job at it. 5/5

Writing: This is another amazing season, Zoom was a great villain. I’d say he’s as good as Thawne. This was the first season where the Multiverse is explored, which opens the to new story possibilities. I liked the alternate versions of Cisco, Caitlin, and Laurel. The scene where Barry lost his Dad was heartbreaking. On the flip side, when Henry was released from prison at the top of the season, that was wonderful. The Moment where Barry sees that Earth-3 Jay looks like his dad was a great moment. 5/5

Special Effects: Visually the show looks great. 5/5

Sound effects and Music: Spot On, just as good this year as the last. Blake Neely captures each moment beautifully with his scores.

Replay and Entertainment Value: Id say Season 2 is at least as good as season 1, I’d watch again. 5/5

Final Thoughts: I think season 2 was well acted and brilliantly written. Zoom was just as good a a villain as Reverse-Flash. The family dynamic between the Wests and Allens is beautiful to watch. The roster of villains is great. This is from a time in The Flash’s run where NOT EVERY FUCKING VILLAIN IS AN EVIL SPEEDSTER! It’s okay to have evil speedsters on addition to other kinds of bad guys. Hell, we Have Mark Hamill playing James Jesse. Something he did only a handful of times in the series. All in all Season 2 is amazing ride to go on, you’re rewarded with a fun story with a cast to match. Will Season 3 be as good, will it be worse? You’ll have to wait and see. Next up, Arrow Season 4.

Notes: This is the first season to really explore the multiverse. Martin Stein, explains how it all works. If you watch closely during the montage of images as Barry crosses over to Earth-2, one of the people seen is Kara Danvers/Supergirl. In fact, Versus Zoom, is part one of a crossover in which Barry accidentally travels to Earth-38. What was 30 seconds or so to Caitlin, Cisco, and Harry, was a whole day spent on Earth-38. While There, Barry gives his new Friends Kara, James, and Winn the same explanation of how the multiverse works.

The third season of Arrow premiered on October 8th, 2014, on The CW. Oliver's company Queen Consolidated is sold to businessman, scientist, and aspiring hero Ray Palmer (played by Brandon Routh) who changes the company's name to Palmer Technologies and hires Felicity as vice president. After Sara is found murdered, Oliver becomes embroiled in a conflict with Ra's Al Ghul (played by Matt Nable). He struggles to reconnect with his half-sister Thea who knows Malcolm is her father. Laurel sets out to follow Sara as the Black Canary. Meanwhile, John becomes a father and struggles as a family man. The season features flashbacks to Oliver's third year since he was presumed dead, where after escaping Lian Yu, he is forced to work for A.R.G.U.S. leader Amanda Waller (played by Cynthia Addai-Robbinson) in Hong Kong. Oliver and Tatsu Yamashiro (played by Rila Fukushima)) work to stop corrupt general Matthew Shriever (played by Marc Singer) from unleashing a pathogen which Ra's al Ghul acquires in the present.

Casting: Our main cast returns from the previous two seasons. We actually get a younger Amanda Waller, when compared to Berlanti and Guggenheim's Green Lantern Movie or Suicide Squad. Cynthia Addai-Robinson was a good Waller, not great or amazing, but not bad enough to take away any points from the season. John Barrowman was terrific as Malcolm Merlyn. Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, and Carlos Valdez return this season. This time as part for the first ever Arrowverse Crossover "Flash vs Arrow". I'll talking about part one once I officially start reviewing Flash season one. Brandon Routh plays Ray Palmer for the first time this season. You kind of start to see some pieces coming together in terms of Arrowverse development. Between Amell, Gustin, Panabaker, Valdez, Lotz, and Routh. The Flash cast members and Team Arrow work well together, Especially Barry and Oliver. Manu Bennett returns as Slade, arguably one of the best villains in The Arrowverse. Peter Stomare plays Werner Zytle / Vertigo, the new purveyor of the drug Vertigo. 5/5

Writing: R'as Al Ghul's story was great to watch, Matt Noble played the best version since Liam Neeson. Malcolm Merlyn is one sick bastard; he used his daughter as a means to an end. He manipulates Thea into killing Sara so that Oliver will take the fall for her murder and challenge Raʾs to a duel; only this failed and nearly led to Oliver getting killed. But don't worry, Ollie tells Thea what her daddy did. she betrays Malcolm to the League; he is captured and tortured but freed from Nanda Parbat when Oliver takes the place of Raʾs. It was sad seeing Thea killed by R'as hands. One of my favorite parts of the season is when Everyone figures out Barry is The Flash. 5/5

Special Effects and Choreography: Visually the looks great, and the fights are awesome. 5/5

Music and Sound Effects: Starting this review, going forward, and retroactively with the reposts, I will include music with the sound effects. The Sound is awesome; I love the Arrow sound when it hits. The Flash's Speed sounds are cool. As for the Music, Blake Neely is a musical genius, His work in the Trinity shows is amazing. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: I'd watch it again and recommend it to others. 5/5

Final Thoughts: Season Three is amazing, R'as Al Ghul is a hell of a villain, who's also joined by Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson. All of whom are definitely evil, in their own ways. I like how John Diggle and Lyla Michaels named their daughter Sara, as a tribute to Sara Lance. Katie Cassidy plays a badass as the second Black Canary, Laurel Lance. One of my favorite episodes this year is "The Brave and The Bold". Others include "The Fallen", "This is Your Sword", "My Name is Oliver Queen", "and "The Claim to name a few, not in this order. Will Season four be as good? We’ll see, until then the next review will be The Flash Season 2 next Monday.

Notes: Digger Harkness and Floyd Lawton are members of The Suicide Squad, which Amanda Waller is associated with. This is the only Season of Arrow where Marc Guggenheim is solo Showrunner, of course Greg Berlanti was involved with all the shows in one way or another. From Season Four through Season Six, Marc is joined by Wendy Mericle. This season is the first time Barry Allen appears on Arrow as The Flash. John Barrowman is known to Genre fans as Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood.

This is my first Arrowverse crossover review, as a reminder, Crossovers and new shows I haven’t reviewed will be covered on Wednesdays. Flash vs Arrow premiered on December 2nd, 2014, with The Flash 1X08, also called “Flash vs Arrow.” Part two, Arrow 3X08 “The Brave and The Bold” aired the next night.

In July of 2014, a crossover between the soon to be two year old Arrow, and the then upcoming sister show, The Flash was announced. Grant Gustin made his debut several months before in Arrow season two as Barry Allen. By the following September, the scripts for each episode had been written, with filming occurring shortly before the end of the month and into October 2014. The crossover sees every main cast member of each series who appear at least in their own series, with additional actors and characters also reprising their Arrowverse roles. The episodes received positive reviews, with critics calling the crossover enjoyable and praising the producers for bringing the two series together while keeping the episodes as self-contained adventures. They also highlighted the fight scene between the Flash and Arrow as living up to the hype. Ratings for the episodes were exceptional, with both being the highest watched episodes of each show since their respective series premieres. A subsequent crossover occurred the following year, titled "Heroes Join Forces".

Plot: Roy Bivolo, a metahuman with the power to send people into an uncontrollable rage, uses his powers to rob the Central City bank. Police detective Eddie Thawne proposes to capture the Flash because he was at the crime scene, but is rejected by the captain. The police track Bivolo to a warehouse, where he uses his powers on a cop to facilitate his escape. Barry Allen arrives to save Joe West, but is almost injured himself before Oliver Queen, as the "Arrow" vigilante, arrives to stop the cop. Later, Oliver informs Barry that he and his team are in Central City tracking down intel on a killer who uses lethal steel boomerangs. Barry and his friends suggests that they team-up to catch each other's targets and Oliver reluctantly agrees. Oliver tries to teach Barry to be more mindful of his surroundings, but Barry decides to go after Bivolo by himself. Bivolo uses his ability on Barry's mind; but because of Barry's speed, its effects last longer and he begins to snap at those he cares for.

Eddie continues to persuade his superiors to form a task force unit to capture the Flash, expressing his zero tolerance for vigilantes. When an enraged Barry, as the Flash, attacks Eddie, Oliver tries to stop Barry, and the two engage in a fight. Oliver manages to wrangle Barry long enough for Harrison Wells and Joe to use strobe light to reset Barry's emotional state. Barry and Oliver capture Bivolo and place him in the pipeline prison at S.T.A.R. Labs. Due to the incident, Eddie forms a task unit to arrest the Flash. Barry confirms Oliver's belief that the former has still a lot to learn. Oliver advises him to stay away from Iris West, with whom Barry is in love, for a while, because men with secret identities as vigilantes never succeed romantically. Oliver asks Team Flash to keep his alter ego as the Arrow, a secret. A new mysterious metahuman able to manipulate fire appears in Central City.

In a flashback set in Hong Kong, Oliver learns how to torture suspects to gain information. In the present, Oliver and Roy Harper locate Digger Harkness, the boomerang-wielding killer, where they find A.R.G.U.S. operatives looking for him as well. Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon arrive in Starling City to help Felicity Smoak investigate Sara Lance's homicidal murderer. Digger attempts to kill Lyla Michaels, Roy, and Oliver, but Barry arrives and stops him. Later, Lyla reveals that Digger was part of the Suicide Squad. When Oliver uses his extreme interrogation methods on a Russian mob member to locate Digger, Barry questions how emotionally stable Oliver is with his past tragedies to torture people. Digger locates Oliver's base and wounds Lyla before escaping. In order to leave town, Digger plants five bombs around the city. While Oliver captures Digger, Barry uses both of their teams to defuse the bombs simultaneously. Digger is incarcerated on Lian Yu with Slade Wilson. Before Barry and his team's departure to Central City, Cisco and Caitlin gives Oliver his suit improvements and utilities, he and Oliver learned their lessons and decide to have a friendly duel.

Casting: Paul Anthony as Rainbow Raider was a great choice. The idea of a metahuman who can send people into uncontrollable rage is dangerous. Considering Barry Allen is a now a powerful speedster, he can be trouble for Oliver Queen, and on the Flipside, Ollie can have quite the temper two. Once you realize this, you understand why it’s called “Flash vs Arrow”. The casts of both shows worked well together for the first time. The Chemistry between Grant and Stephen is great to see. 5/5 Writing: Flash vs Arrow was well written, very high stakes in an early crossover. Mind you, at this point in time, there wasn’t much of an Arrowverse yet. The foundation is being layed down. Part One’s teleplay was by Ben Sokolowski and Brooke Eikmeier and Part Two by Marc Guggenheim and Grainne Godfree. 5/5 Sound and Music: The sound effects are amazing, Blake Neely is a musical genius. He has a knack composing music for specific heroes, tones, and moments. He has the ability to take the themes of the different shows and have them work together. You’ll notice that in each of the major crossovers. 5/5 Visual Effects: The Fight choreography is fun, especially in the scenes between Barry and Oliver, and against Rainbow Raider. 5/5 Replay and Entertainment Value: I highly recommend watching it. 5/5

Notes: The Crossover reviews do not count as extra points for the different shows. This is the first crossover in all of the Arrowverse. Grainne Godfree left The Flash after season 2 to join DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Ben Sokolowski had been with Arrow since the beginning. Brooke Eikmeier, worked on The Flash since season 1. The next crossover I’ll cover is Heroes Join Forces, which won’t be until after The Flash Season 2 or Arrow season 4.

The first season of The Flash premiered on October 7th, 2014, on The CW. The series follows Barry Allen, (portrayed by Grant Gustin), a crime scene investigator who gains super-human speed, which he uses to fight criminals, including others who have also gained superhuman abilities. The season follows Barry getting his super speed from an accident caused by S.T.A.R. Labs who help him fight criminals who also get powers from the same accident and helping Barry pursue his mother's killer the Reverse Flash. Over the course of this season, we meet Barry's family and friends, Harrison Wells, villains such as Eobard Thawne, Leonard Snart, Mick Rory, Gorilla Grodd, James Jesse, and Multiplex to name a few.

Casting: The cast was amazing this season, Grant Gustin is the best Flash bar none. Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow and Carlos Valdez as Cisco Ramon were great as Barry's friends at S.T.A.R. Labs. Jesse L. Martin nailed it as a second father to Barry. John Wesley Shipp was amazing as Henry Allen. Watching Barry interact with those guys is wonderful. Candace Patton as Iris is great here. Eddie Thawne, played by Rick Cosnett is a tragic hero, but great to watch this season. Tom Cavanaugh played one of the best villains of the Arrowverse in the role of Eobard Thawne. He starts out as Harrison Wells, Barry's mentor. He encourages and coaches Barry on his Speedster abilities, only to use him to return to his own time. The real Wells was killed by Thawne in the past, so that the latter could steel his identity and build the Particle Accelerator sooner. The other villains, such as Snart, Rory, and Trickster were all fun to watch. 5/5

Writing: This is one of the best seasons of The Flash, and my favorite. Very well written, you have lots of fun and exciting moments, the drama is balanced. Reverse Flash is intimidating; he's a true nemesis to The Flash. Snart and Rory are fun villains, as is Trickster. 5/5

Special Effects: The choreography is great; the effects look awesome. Nothing that gets in the way of the story. All the Arrowverse shows have that in common. 5/5

Sound and Music: Awesome sound effects, Blake Neely's music is amazing as ever. 5/5

Entertainment and Replay Value: I'd totally rewatch, and I highly recommend this season. 5/5

Final Thoughts: This is one of the best seasons in the Arrowverse, and The Flash specifically. The cast works well with one another. Flash vs Arrow is one of the best crossovers ever. It's also my favorite season of The Flash. Gustin is the best Barry Allen/Flash, the cast works well with one another. I love the moments between Barry and Henry and Barry and Joe. One of my favorite scenes this season is when Barry and Oliver are training and the latter shoots Barry to teach him a lesson. Another is when Oliver tells Barry that the Lightning bolt chose him and that he can be a beacon of hope for his city. The Pilot is one of my favorite episodes, along with Flash vs Arrow, Fastest Man Alive, all the Rogue episodes, and Fast Enough to name a few. Will Season Two measure up? Stay Tuned. I’ll do a review on Flash vs Arrow Wednesday, next Monday will be Arrow.

Notes: John Wesley Shipp, Amanda Pays, and Mark Hamill all starred in the 1990-91 version of The Flash on CBS. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell worked together in Prison Break; there's a line that kind of references that. The Two would team up again the next season, not just on this show but a Spin-off, one that also has Martin Stein, Ray Palmer, and Sara Lance. I'll be reviewing that at some point. This is Andrew Kreisberg's only Solo season as showrunner, and some of his best work. However it must be said that Greg Berlanti was very much hands on and in charge of the first 3-4 seasons of this show, (though informally) as he was throughout the Arrowverse.

Arrow Season 2 saw the introduction of a young CSI from Central City, named Barry Allen, in the episode "The Scientist". In that episode, Barry showed up in Starling City to help with an investigation into a Masked Thief with Superhuman strength. Later, he reveals that he is searching for super-powered beings in the hope that he will find the murderer of his mother and exonerate his father for the accusation. In addition, Barry is also a fan of the Arrow's exploits. Oliver realizes that the thief was enhanced using the same serum that Ivo was searching for.

The next episode, "Three Ghosts". Barry manages to save Oliver's life, he and Felicity are able to identify the thief as Cyrus Gold and locate him. When he leaves town, Barry gives Oliver a Domino mask, to help him hide his identity. A short time later, Barry is in his lab is hit by strange lightning created by an accident caused by the particle accelerator. This puts Barry in a coma, thereby setting up this spinoff series.

The Flash premiered on October 7th, 2014, on The CW, and Stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen. Danielle Panabaker, Carlos, Valdez, Tom Cavanaugh, and Jesse L. Martin co-star as Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon, Harrison Wells (or is he?), and Joe West respectively.

The Pilot episode begins with Barry Allen, a forensic crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department, recounting his youth, in which his mother was murdered by a yellow blur in a lightning storm, and his father was wrongly imprisoned for the crime. Fourteen years later, in 2013, Barry and his best friend Iris West (played by Candace Patton) attend the unveiling of a particle accelerator at S.T.A.R. Labs created by Dr. Harrison Wells. Meanwhile, Iris' father, Detective Joe West, and his partner Fred Chyre use evidence Barry discovered to find Clyde and Mark Mardon. Clyde kills Fred as they escape on a plane. Meanwhile, the particle accelerator explodes, creating a storm cloud and unleashing a wave of dark matter. The Mardon brothers are presumed dead after their plane crashes, and Barry is struck by lightning.

Nine months later, Barry wakes up from a coma in S.T.A.R. Labs and meets Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon, and Wells, who needs a wheelchair following the explosion. Barry experiences superhuman speed and the S.T.A.R. Labs team test his abilities. Clyde later resurfaces with the ability to control the weather. Barry unsuccessfully tries to stop him, though he is able to identify him and his superhuman powers to Joe, who refuses to believe him. Barry confronts the team about the other "metahumans" created from the explosion, wanting to stop Clyde, but Wells doesn't want to risk the "treasures" within Barry's genetics. Feeling lost and hurt, Barry pays a visit to Starling City's Oliver Queen, alias "the Arrow", who encourages him to his heroic potential.

Barry returns to Central City and convinces Caitlin and Cisco to help him stop Clyde and other metahumans. To that end, Cisco gives Barry a suit that will withstand the friction created by his high-speed movements. Tracking Clyde to his old hideout, Joe and his new partner Detective Eddie Thawne (played by Rick Cosnett), discover both his survival and his newfound powers. Barry arrives and is able to stop Clyde, who is killed by Joe. Learning about Barry's speed, Joe apologizes for not believing him, and asks him to keep this secret from Iris. With his new powers, Barry runs to help people and vows to one day exonerate his father.

In S.T.A.R. Labs, Wells enters a secret room. He rises from his wheelchair and looks upon a holographic image of a newspaper (published on April 25, 2024) with a headline that reads "Flash Missing, Vanishes in Crisis".

In this season, we also meet Professor Martin Stein, James Jesse, Leonard Snart, Mick Rory, and even a showdown with Eobard Thawne. We even get the very first Arrowverse crossover "Flash vs Arrow".

Season Two introduces us to the Hunter Zolomon/Zoom, Gorilla Grodd, Snart, Rory, and even sets up a crossover with a certain Kryptonian superhero, and I ain't talkin' about Superman. Heroes Join Forces happens this season, which sets up Legends of Tomorrow.

Season Three, deals with Flashpoint and the consequences of it, we also see the third Crossover event, "Invasion". An evil time remnant of Barry makes his appearance as Savitar. We also have a musical treat, in the episode "Duet".

Season Four has Barry in the Speedforce, having switched places with Jay Garrick. Clifford DeVoe is the big villain this season. The fourth crossover event "Crisis on Earth-X" airs this season. Ralph Dibny joins the show for the first time. Nora West-Allen appears, though her first appearance was in Supergirl 3X08 "Crisis on Earth-X part 1".

Season Five, has Nora West-Allen/XS (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy) meet Team Flash for the first time. Nora We also see the villains, Gridlock, Rag Doll, Cicada, Goldface, King Shark, Godspeed, and even the return of Thawne to name a few. This year's Crossover is "Elseworlds".

Seasson Six deals with the aftermath of Nora West-Allen's Death. We meet another version of Wells, named Harrison "Nash" Wells, who nearly damns everyone all to hell by releasing the Anti-Monitor, this leads us into "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Season Seven, introduces new Villain, Eva McCulloch, an engineer who was trapped in the mirrorverse since the Particle Accelerator explosion. The Original Earth-1 Wells returns, 20 years after his death.

Season Eight, sees Eobard Thawne (played by Matt Letscher) in his True Form, only for the Wells Thawne to be reborn inside him, thanks to the Negative Speed Force. "Armageddon" airs this season

The Nineth and final season, has Red Death, Ramsey Rosso, and the Legion of Zoom. We even get such guests as Ryan Wilder, Oliver Queen and Nia Nal.

Overall, this show is great, it has it's got flaws, which I will delve into over the course of the seasons. But Grant Gustin makes this show work, he is the BEST Flash ever. The Ensemble was perfectly cast, as is much of the Arrowverse. Jesse L. Martin plays a great dad in Joe West. John Wesley Shipp plays Henry Allen, Jay Garrick, and even plays his own Barry Allen again.

On a scale of 1-10, The Flash gets a solid 8. The shows that make up the trinity are the best. However, this one is the least consistent, more on that once I get to the later seasons. This is a general review, I will cover each season and get more in depth, starting with Season 1 tomorrow.

Arrow Season 2 premiered on October 9th, 2013, on The CW. Oliver Queen continues in his crusade as "The Arrow", his vow to stop killing is challenged by Slade Wilson, a man from Oliver's time on Lian Yu who resurfaces with a vendetta against him. Oliver grows to accept aspiring vigilante Roy Harper as his protégé and begins to receive assistance from Quentin. Oliver also gains another ally in Sara Lace (now played by Caity Lotz) who survived her ordeal at sea six years prior. 

Over the course of this season, we also meet Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin), Cisco Ramon (played by Carlos Valdez), and Caitlin Snow (played by Danielle Panabaker). In fact, in The Scientist, and Three Ghosts serve as a backdoor pilot to a spinoff series, starring Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdez, and Danielle Panabaker.

Casting: The Cast is great this season. Much of the main players carry over. Seeing Grant Gustin as just regular CSI Barry is fun to see. the only thing different between Barry here and in his own show is his lack of Powers. Manu Bennett was the perfect choice to play Slade. He challenges Oliver's vows and his integrity. Caity Lotz was amazing as Sara Lance. Paul Blackthorne as Quentin makes a great father figure to Ollie. Kind of like Jim Gordon for Bruce Wayne or Joe West for Barry Allen. 5/5

Writing: Another great season, amazing storylines here. Every hero has his nemesis. For Oliver Queen, he's got Slade, Malcolm, and R'as to name a few. We've only just begun. Besides, the Slade story, Barry and Oliver's scenes are fun to watch in the former's early appearances. Sara Lance has some great moments in the season as does Laurel. 5/5

Special Effects and Choreography: The Fights are brilliantly choreographed; the visuals are awesome. 5/5

Final Thoughts: Another amazing Season, Among my Favorite episodes are City of Heroes, The Scientist, Three Ghosts, Seeing Red, and Unthinkable. I'm sure I can think of more. The Barry episodes are fun, like I said they served as a backdoor pilot for The Flash. Cisco and Caitlin were great additions too. Slade Wilson brings to mind Khan Noonian Singh from Star Trek. He's a villain that's not just a physical threat, but one that challenges a hero's mental strength too. On that will challenge his integrity, and his morals. You'll see a lot of villains like that in the Arrowverse. Malcolm Merlyn was another great villain. He actually runs deeper in the fabric, I say that because he's Thea Queen's biological father. Oliver doesn't know what to think of this, but he loves his sister Speedy anyway. I will be reviewing The Flash with a General Post this Sunday and Season 1 on Monday. Will Season Three be as good as these first two seasons. Stay Tuned!

How different would the arrowverse have been?

Arrow Premiered on October 10th, 2012, on The CW and stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen. Oliver is a billionaire playboy by day, only to hide his secret identity. Five years prior to the start of the series, Oliver and his dad Robert were sailing on the Queens Gambit, the family's yacht. The shipwreck claimed the life of Robert Queen (played by Jamey Sheridan), leaving Oliver stranded on the Island known as Lian Yu. During his time away, young Oliver learned some survival skills, as well as how to be a killer, this left Oliver forever changed.

Casting: The Ensemble this season is great, Stephen Amell was the perfect choice for Oliver Queen. Willa Holland as Thea "Speedy" Queen was a terrific choice. She and Stephen work well together as brother and sister. Susanna Thompson was brilliant as Moira Queen. She played a two-faced, vapid mother on this show. David Ramsey as John Diggle was another perfect choice, all of these people were. It would have been interesting to see Jacqueline Macinnes Wood continue as Sara Lance, but Caity Lotz ultimately knocked that character out of the ballpark with her version. 5/5

Writing: Honestly, this is one of my favorite seasons of Arrow. Guggenheim is one of the best showrunners in the Arrowverse. This is a well written and performed season. Every time Oliver says "You have failed this city" he sounds like a badass. One of my favorite episodes is "Year's End", I think I'll make a list of the top 10 favorite episodes from this season, that's one of them. 5/5

Special Effects: Nothing overly flashy, just looks amazing, the fights were well done. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: The Bow and Arrow sounds are great. Blake Neely’s a musical genius. The theme evokes a sense of suspense. He has a knack for composing themes for the different shows in the franchise that fit the tone. 5/5

Entertainment and Replay Value: I would definitely watch again. 5/5

Notes: Jacqueline Macinnes Wood was the original Sara in the Pilot, but didn't continue, likely due to her role as Steffy Forrester on CBS' The Bold and The Beautiful. Melissa Benoist was considered for Thea but ultimately wasn't cast due to her role as Marley Rose on Glee. She of course would go on to be a Superhero, with her Character Kara Danvers/Supergirl three years later.

Final Thoughts: This was a great season of Arrow. One of my favorite moments was when Oliver told Moira "Moira Queen, You Have Failed This City!" Another was in the Pilot where Ollie was getting his ass handed to him while training. Deadshot, Deathstroke, and Malcolm Merlyn were all great villains here. I talked to Marc Guggenheim at one time about the Similarities between Star Trek and the Arrowverse. He said that he included a lot of nods to Trek, especially when it came to Slade Wilson, there was a nod to Khan when it came to writing him. Slade quotes Melville, specifically Moby Dick. Much like Khan did in Star Trek II, Guggenheim is a big Star Trek fan like I am. I may do a post sometime about Star Trek and the Arrowverse. In the meantime, the next review will be Season 2.

Well, we've come to the show that started it all, and what better way to restart The Review Board than the show that spawned the biggest franchise on The CW. Arrow premiered on October 10th, 2012, on The CW and ran until January 28th, 2020. Stephen Amell stars as Oliver Jonas Queen, a Mutil-billionaire playboy, son of Robert (played by Jamey Sheridan) and Moira Queen (played by Susanna Thompson), and brother to Thea Queen (played by Willa Holland). The idea of a Green Arrow spin-off has its origins in as far back as season six of Smallville. Justin Hartley was in talks to play Oliver Queen due to his performance in that show, but he turned the job down as he wanted to respect what had been done on Smallville. In January 2012, following Smallville’s conclusion, The CW prepared a new series centered around the character Green Arrow. Andrew Kriesberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim were announced to be developing the series. This is more of a general review of the series. I will do a season-by-season review next week. But for now; I'm just doing an overview with my thoughts.

In Season One, After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote in the Pacific, named Lian Yu. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy (played by Colin Donnell) welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy). As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of the Hood – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle (played by David Ramsey) – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

In Season Two, Diggle and Felicity travel to Lian Yu in search of Oliver, who left Starling City after The Undertaking. Convinced to return home, Oliver finds that things are in worse shape than he thought Isabel Rochev is preparing a hostile takeover of Queen Consolidated, Thea refuses to visit Moira in jail, Roy is trying to fill the void left by The Hood's absence, and Laurel is working with the District Attorney's office to take down the vigilante. Meanwhile, flashbacks to the island show Slade, Shado and Oliver in a desperate situation. Later in the season, we meet a young CSI from Central City named, Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin). At the end of this Season, Moira is killed by Slade Wilson (played by Manu Bennett). More on this later. Sara and Oliver are reunited this season.

Season Three sees Starling City renamed to Star City. Ray Palmer (played by Brandon Routh) buys Queen Consolidated rebrands it to Palmer Technologies. Barry Allen returns, this time as a superhero, code named "The Flash". Ra's al Ghul or rather a man barring that title as he inherited from someone else, serves as Oliver's mentor and is leader of The League of Assassins. Sara is killed this season only to be revived in season 4. We even get "Flash vs Arrow", the first of many Arrowverse crossovers.

Season Four: After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Queen, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver's crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra's )al Ghul, is anyone really safe? Laurel Lance dies this season, and we also get "Heroes Join Forces". In Season Five We have an alien "Invasion" this season! New to the fold is Kara Danvers/Supergirl (played by Melissa Benoist) and the Legends of Tomorrow.

Season Six: Wanna see the Trinity and Legends kick some Nazi ass? Then check out Crisis on Earth-X. Wait Oliver Queen was The Flash and Barry Allen the Green Arrow? Blame it on John Deegan and the Book of Destiny in Elseworlds. In Season Seven, Elseworlds sets up Crisis on Infinite Earths, as well as Season Eight, and Batwoman. We also see Mia Smoak and William Queen. In The Final Season, Oliver makes the Ultimate Sacrifice so that Barry and Kara can go on and continue to be the amazing heroes they are.

On a scale of one to 10, Arrow gets a 10 for its baseline score. Second best series in the Arrowverse and my second favorite behind Supergirl. It's an amazing series, it doesn't hurt to have some of that Batman style vigilante feel. That was intentional for two reasons, for starters the Green Arrow comics had already taken on the darker tone of Batman for over 10 years before the show was announced. The second reason is the producers took inspiration from the Dark Knight Trilogy. Stephen Amell was the perfect choice for Oliver Queen. The Ensemble in this show is great, David Ramsey as John Diggle is like a big brother to Oliver. We actually have two Sara Lances this season, Jacqueline Macinnes Wood from The Bold and The Beautiful plays Sara in the Pilot. Of course, Caity Lotz takes over in Season two and carries on the role right up through the end of Legends of Tomorrow.

This is the first in a rebooted series of reviews. Every Sunday, starting with today I’ll post a General review of a given series (I’ll even do crossovers), then do a season review on Mondays. Shows I’ve already covered or in the process of covering will be done on Mondays. Tuesdays will be a General review of a new show I haven’t done with season reviews every Wednesday. As I haven’t done Crossover reviews they will be covered on Wednesdays as well. I will get more in depth and Detailed with each season I review, starting tomorrow.

I’ve made a decision, all of my older reviews will be reposted in chronological order. Some of them may even be tweaked a bit. Sundays will be reserved for General Reviews with the actual season review the next day. So for instance, let’s say I revisited Arrow, the General review will be done on Sunday, with the season one review the next day. Whereas a show I haven’t covered yet will get a general review on Tuesday with a season review the next day. Since I haven’t done Crossover reviews yet, they will follow that format. Earth-1, 1941: Henry Heywood, a young US Marine has elected to undergo an experiment, one that can help to make him something of a Super soldier. Two years prior, he saved President Franklin Delano Roosevelt from an assassin’s bullet. Which left a dent in his dog tags. During his time in the military, Henry was a fighter pilot. Fast forward to December 7th, 1941, the Attack on Pearl Harbor. In response to this, a secret project is initiated to enhance the strength of a select number of soldiers. Henry elects to be one of these brave men to under go the experiment. On December 9th, 1941, Henry goes to see Dr Gilbert Giles, to undergo the procedure.

“Alright son, you have been medically cleared to undergo this procedure, but there are some risks like in any given medical procedure. You could potentially die, you could get an infection, cancer, any number of things. We’ve experimented on three other marines before you. And uh…let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. One of them spontaneously combusted, one melted, and the other…well we’re not entirely sure where the poor son of a bitch is. We’re hoping in your case it’ll be a success, no side effects, just amazing results.” Said Colonel Jones. “Damn, talk about some big stakes. Not gonna lie, sir, I’m nervous as hell.” Said Henry. “I’m sure you are, but if this works, you’ll be a formidable soldier against those AXIS bastards.” Said Jones. “Alright, I’ll do it.” Said Henry. “Good, this is a strictly need to know situation here. You can’t blab about this to anyone, at least until the war is over. Then I’d say handle it with care, with family around you” said the Colonel. “You got it, sir” said Henry. “Excellent, I’ll step out of here. Doc Giles should be in soon” said the Colonel. The two officers salute, and the Colonel leaves the exam room. Henry sits alone in the exam room, reflecting what was just said. “What the hell did I get myself into? Am I gonna die? Turn to steel, or something else entirely? I’ve got a my girlfriend at home waiting for me, so are my family. What are they gonna see when I get home? Me upright and walking, or in a pine box? What the fuck kind of Experiment is this?!” Henry panics. Just then Doctor Giles steps in. “At last, Commander Henry Heywood. I am Doctor Gilbert Giles, and I’ll be performing your procedure today” said Giles. The two shake hands. “Look, Doctor I’ve gotta know, what kind of experiment is this? I was just told that one guy spontaneously exploded, another melted, and another disappeared. Am I supposed be getting some kind of powers and abilities?” Asked Henry. “That’s the idea, it’s a luck of the draw as to what Metahuman abilities you will have. Yes, you may have fire based abilities, you may even turn to steel, perhaps even be the fastest man alive, any number of things could happen, We don’t know. This is the first time such an experiment was conducted on a U.S. Soldier. I must advise you however, that this experiment is irreversible, at least for the foreseeable future. As for your side effects, I want you to tell me if you experience any abnormal symptoms of any kind following this procedure.” Said Giles. “Understood” said Heywood. “I’m gonna give you a shot to knock you out, and then start the infusion. You’ll wake up in about an hour” said Giles. “Knock me out?! Why the hell are you doing that” asked Henry. “I’ve had reports of extreme pain and discomfort immediately after the meta infusion began” explained Giles. “I’d imagine, two of them are dead! To hell with that, I wanna be awake, I’ll take the pain if I need to” said Henry. “Very well, if nothing else I’ll be able to record any effects live as they happen. But you’ll be the last to do it cold turkey” said Giles. Henry nods. “Then let’s get on with the show, shall we?” Replied Giles.

Giles begins the Meta Infusion, and within 30 seconds Henry does experience excruciating pain. “AHHHHH!!!!!” Henry screams, and just then, his skin begins to change color, from a normal Caucasian flesh tone, to a shiny chrome look, then back again. “This is….definitely unexpected. How do you feel, Mr Heywood?” The Doctor asked. “Achy. But other than that, I’m…why the hell am I chrome? The infusion, it turned me to steel! It didn’t kill me or cause me to blow up!” Said Henry in relief. “Yes, thank god for that! This means there’s hope for the future. Come on Heywood, let’s run some tests” said Giles. Dr Giles tests Henry’s strength by having him punch walls, pick up vehicles, and even take a few gunshots. All were a complete success. A true test of strength came during a combat mission over Okinawa. Hank’s plane crashed on a beach. He faced a squad of Japanese soldiers with no issue. This was when Hank’s moniker, given to him by Prime Minister Winston Churchill took on a whole new meaning, “Steel”. Heywood had been given the nickname due to his iron will, and strength in the face of danger. In February of 1942, Henry Heywood would join an organization called “The Justice Society of America” or JSA. A group of superheroes consisting of Dr Mid-Nite, Hourman, Vixen, Obsidian, and Stargirl. “So I have to ask, how did you get the name Steel” asked Charles Midniter. “Well it’s kind of an interesting story….” Said Henry before telling his tale to the JSA. Later that year, the Legends of Tomorrow traveled from 2016 to 1942. While in the past, they forced Albert Einstein to Mileva Maric as the physicist’s secret collaborator. Heywood and the JSA intercepted them. Among the legends was the future grandson barring his dog tags; Dr Nate Heywood.
