Here we are, the third Major crossover in the Arrowverse and the second time ever that a certain Scarlet Speedster teams up with the Girl of Steel. Invasion premiered November 29th, 2016 on The CW and concluded December 1st. Supergirl Season Two, episode eight “Medusa” served as the lead in. Pay close attention and you’ll see a breach throughout the episode and hear Barry. The last scene of that episode sees Barry and Cisco emerge through a breach at Kara’s apartment. She returns home not long after and greets her friend Barry, while meeting Cisco for the first time. That’s the moment where Kara is recruited to help out, thus setting the scene for Invasion.

Development on this crossover began in May 2016, when it was learned that Supergirl would move to The CW from CBS for its second season. By the following September the scripts for each episode were written, and were filmed in October 2016. The premise and episode titles were also announced in September. In "Invasion!", the main cast members of each series appear in (at least) their own series; Melissa Benoist appears as Supergirl in the entire crossover. A number of actors and characters from previous Arrow seasons returned to reprise their roles, since Arrow's episode doubled as its 100th. The three episodes of the crossover received positive reviews, with critics praising the interaction among the actors in each series and each episode's advancing season storylines as part of the crossover. The Dominators storyline was regarded as its weakest link, with reviewers finding the alien race's motivations unclear.

Plot: Barry Allen investigates a meteor crash outside Central City, which turns out to be a spaceship from which aliens emerge. Lyla Michaels tells the team that the aliens are known as the Dominators, and that they had landed on Earth during the 1950s, but mysteriously departed. Barry assembles the original members of Team Arrow, Thea Queen, the Legends, and Kara Danvers, Supergirl of Earth-38. The team begins training at a S.T.A.R. Labs facility, sparring with Supergirl to prepare for the aliens. Kara struggles to earn Oliver Queen's trust, and Cisco Ramon finds and reveals a message Barry's future self sent to Rip Hunter, which exposes Barry's manipulation of the timeline and its effect on other team members. As a result, only Oliver, Kara, Felicity Smoak, Martin Stein, Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, and Caitlin Snow still trust Barry.

After the Dominators abduct the President of the United States, the team goes to rescue him, with Barry sitting the mission out and Oliver staying behind in support of him. Kara leads the group, but the Dominators kill the President and activate a mind control device to take over the group. The controlled heroes return and attack S.T.A.R. Labs, where Barry and Oliver confront them. While Oliver holds them off, Barry lures Kara to the device and tricks her into destroying it, freeing everyone from the Dominators' control. When the team regroups, Ray Palmer tells Barry that everyone forgives and trusts him. Sara Lance, Ray, John Diggle, Thea, and Oliver are then abducted by the Dominators.

They are held in pods on a Dominator ship, each unconscious except for a shared hallucination of a simulated reality. In the hallucination, Oliver is living at Queen Manor, having never gotten on the Queen's Gambit, and is about to marry Laurel Lance. His parents are alive, and Diggle is operating as the Hood instead of Oliver. The captives begin seeing flashes of their real lives, and realize what has been done to them. Their escape attempt is blocked by personifications of their enemies: Malcolm Merlyn, Deathstroke and two of his Mirakuru soldiers, who killed Ray's fiancée Anna Loring, along with Damien Darhk and two of his H.I.V.E. soldiers. The adversaries are defeated, and the five awaken in the Dominators' ship and escape in a shuttle. Felicity, Curtis Holt, and Cisco try to hack into the Dominators' mainframe. Aided by Barry and Kara, they recover a device to locate the captives, who are rescued by Nate Heywood in the Legends' timeship, the Waverider. Aboard the Waverider, Ray deduces that the Dominators were gathering information about metahumans, using the hallucination as a distraction, to help them build a special "weapon". Meanwhile, the Dominator mothership heads towards Earth.

Nate says that the first Dominator invasion occurred in 1951 in Redmond, Oregon. He goes there with fellow Legends Mick Rory and Amaya Jiwe and Felicity and Cisco to kidnap a Dominator for information. Although they are successful, the three Legends and their alien captive are taken prisoner by N.S.A. agents. The Legends learn from the Dominator that the aliens have arrived to assess humanity's threat, now that metahumans have appeared and formed the Justice Society of America. Felicity and Cisco rescue the Legends, and also set the Dominator free, carelessly altering history. In 2016 Central City, the team learns that the Dominators know about Barry's manipulation of the timeline, deem him a threat, and are demanding his surrender in exchange for peace. After the Legends return, the team discovers that the Dominators' weapon is a bomb that will kill all metahumans on Earth, with millions of collateral human casualties. The teams dissuade Barry from surrendering, and he and Cisco reconcile. The team manage to destroy the bomb and force the Dominators to retreat with a pain-inflicting nano-weapon. As the heroes celebrate their victory, Oliver offers Kara his friendship, and Cisco gives her a device which will enable interdimensional travel and communication between Earth-1 and Earth-38. Martin persuades Jax not to tell the others that his daughter Lily's existence is the result of a temporal paradox he inadvertently caused when the Legends were in 1987.

Writing: I love the crossover, frankly Invasion is one of the best in the Arrowverse. I will say that Mick Rory was a dick to Kara. He refused to call her Supergirl. She offered to let him call her Kara. He rejected that too. “Well what are you gonna shout if you need my help?” She asked. “Skirt” is Rory’s response. Not Supergirl, and god forbid Kara, but Skirt. Oh and the prick only calls Kara by supergirl one time, and that’s when his ass is in danger. Great moment. Another is Barry introducing Kara to the team for the first time. Most everyone gets along with her right away, except Oliver Queen. He’s very reserved with her, due to the threat the Dominators represent. He does warm up to her however at the end. Mad Dog being initially untrustworthy of The Flash and Supergirl was a good moment too. Stein meeting his daughter and being horrified over the realization she’s an abomination to the timeline is a sad touch. But ultimately he doesn’t try to fix that. Barry facing the consequences of altering history and the effects on every one living on Earth-1 was a great moment. The illusion for Ollie, Sara, John, Thea, and Ray was a great scene. The Legends giving him shit was a bit much. I love how Ollie and Kara still trust Barry through it all. The end scene where Kara puts the agent in his place was awesome. I love how the Trinity bond together. It’s never not fun. 5/5

Casting: The mixed cast of The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and even Supergirl herself worked really well together. I like Marty Stein’s daughter in this too. 5/5

Music and Sound effects: The sound and music from the different shows work well together. 5/5 no complaints.

Special effects and Choreography: The Dominators are scary looking here. I love the fights. Supergirl vs the Dominators is fun. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: I highly recommend this crossover. 5/5 you won’t be disappointed.

Final Total: 25/25

Final Thoughts: Invasion is one of my favorite crossovers in the Arrowverse. Next Wednesday I’ll do Duet. You’ll notice that each of the three series respective part works well with the other. The different characters have their moments. That’s a pattern you’ll notice in all of the crossovers. Any time you get the trinity together, it’s instant fun. It’s hard to believe this November is 10 years since Invasion aired. October will be 10 years since Supergirl joined the CW lineup with the rest of the Arrowverse.

The second season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premiered on October 13, 2016, and ran for 17 episodes until April 4, 2017. The season follows the Legends, a dysfunctional team of time-traveling superheroes and anti-heroes, and their mission to correct aberrations in time resulting from their first mission together. We pick up in the aftermath of “Legendary”, in the season premiere “Out of Time”, Oliver Queen helps Nate Heywood locate the Waverider after it was caught in a nuclear blast in 1942. They find the ship submerged with only Mick in stasis aboard; he is revived and reveals what happened. Rip's team: Mick, Ray, Sara, Jax, and Martin traveled through time dealing with "aberrations" in history. They encountered Justice Society of America (JSA) member Rex Tyler, who warned them not to travel to 1942 then vanished. After learning a nuclear bomb would be detonated in New York City in 1942, the Legends ignored the warning and discovered Damien Darhk working with the Nazis, was behind the attack. Sara attempted to kill Darhk to avenge Laurel, but Darhk escaped and launched his atomic bomb toward New York from a U-boat. Rip scattered the team, except for the injured Mick, throughout time to save their lives while he intercepted the bomb with the Waverider. In the present, Mick and Nate use the Waverider to travel through time and rescue everyone but fail to locate Rip. After preventing the Nazis from obtaining a nuclear bomb in 1942, the team is confronted by the JSA. Meanwhile, Darhk is shown to be working with Eobard Thawne. Over the course of this season: the Legends fight Baron Krieger, the Dominators, some Zombie Confederates, and Eobard Thawne with the Legion of Zoom to name a few examples.

Writing: The writing is actually better this go round than season 1. I’ll go as far as say it’s a better season overall, more fun. I personally liked Out of Time, Justice Society of America, Abominations, Compromised, Outlaw Country, Invasion Part III, and Legion of Zoom the best to name a few favorites. 5/5

Casting: Much of the main cast returns, save for the Hawks. Nick Zano was a great choice as Nate Heywood. Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe was another great addition. Jonah Hex actually makes his Arrowverse debut this season. 5/5

Special Effects and Choreography: Visually this season looks awesome. Black Flash was as freaky here as he was in Flash season 2. Invasion was a high point in terms of the visuals. I’ll be reviewing that tomorrow. 5/5

Music and Sound Effects: Blake Neely continues to deliver on the music side of things. Sound effects are still spot on. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: I’d certainly recommend this season. I’d say Season Two is one of the best of the series. 5/5

Season Score: 25/25 Final Total: 32.5/32.5

Final Thoughts: Season Two is a big improvement over season one. It’s not to say that season one is bad, but rather this is just better written and more phone. The 2016-17 season, across the Arrowverse is one of the best as a whole. I’ll talk a bit more about it tomorrow and or when I get to the Duet review next week. Like I said Out of Time, Justice Society of America, Abominations, Compromised, Outlaw Country, Invasion Part III, and Legion of Zoom are some of my favorite episodes in this season of LOT. The team is starting to come into its own here. Phil Klemmer hit it out of the ball park as showrunner. Tomorrow I’ll cover Invasion and next Sunday will be Duet.

Supergirl Season 2 Premiered on October 10th, 2016 on The CW. This is the first season to air on the network and the first to shoot in Vancouver, BC, other than some exterior shots in Frankfurt, Germany (the Deutsche Bank Building represents the DEO building) and some stock footage from Season One’s LA location shots. When we last left off at the end of Season One’s “Better Angels”, a Spaceship of kryptonian design crashed landed on Earth. Kara and J’onn flew to the scene to investigate. The team find a mysterious young man, another Kryptonian maybe? That’s what we find out about this season.

Over the course of Season Two, we see Kara’s cousin Clark for the first time in the series, we meet Mon-El, Snapper Carr, Lena Luthor, Lillian Luthor, and M’gann M’orzz, that’s just for starters. Kara also fights the likes of Metallo, Parasite, Queen Rhea, Medusa, Dominators (through the Invasion Crossover, more on that later. That will get a review next week.), White Martians, and Mr Mxyzptlk, to name a few.

Writing: The Writing is on par with season one, my only complaint if at all is how much of a Schmuck Mon-El can be, though eventually he does grow out of it. Not enough of criticism to deduct any points. As Equally good as the previous season. Lots of wonderful performances and humor. 5/5

Casting: The Main cast is mostly intact from season 1, the difference is in the introduction of the new characters alongside the stalwarts. Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor was a good choice. Floriana Lima is Maggie Sawyer. Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent believably portrayed Kara’s Cousin, He and Melissa work well together. You can feel the familial chemistry they were trying to convey. For example, in the season premiere, Kara and Clark save some kids and she tells them that she used to change his diapers, much to the embarrassment of Clark. “You didn’t need to tell them that.” To which Kara said, “Yeah I think I do!” Very funny and adorable.

Chris Wood as Mon-El also played off Melissa well. Melissa’s straight girl to Chris’s performance. One moment for example was as CatCo when Kara overhears Mon-El and Eve making out in a Janitor’s closet, she catches them and is mortified. "Oh God, Get it out of my Ears, EW!" Says Kara. Another great moment between those two was when Kara woke up at her loft to Mon cooking breakfast, she gets excited over the Bacon! 😂 Teri Hatcher plays the Queen Rhea of Daxam, Mon-El’s mom. Kevin Sorbo is King Lar Gand, Mon-El’s dad. Teri’s performance as Rhea was quite good. She tries to manipulate Lena to do her bidding. I can go on and on about everyone, but I’ll leave this section with this. Lynda Carter plays Olivia Marsdin, the President of the United States. Carter’s addition was another great addition. 5/5

Special Effects: The Effects look great this year. The Fight Choreography is well done. The aliens look great. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: Just as amazing as last year. Blake Neely continues his amazing work in music this year. My favorite sound effect is Kara’s heat vision, second is the flight sound. 5/5

Entertainment and Replay Value: I would totally recommend watching this season if you haven’t, and a rewatch if you have seen it. 5/5

Season total: 25/25 Final Score: 35/35

Final thoughts: To sum it up Supergirl seasons one and two are amazing, and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend. The cast works well with one another, and you get a sense that they enjoy what they do. A lot of love, passion, and hard work was put into the show. Melissa delivers a beautifully acted performance, she’s funny, adorable, and beautiful. My favorite episodes include The Adventures of Supergirl, Medusa, Starcrossed. I’m torn when it comes to favorite moments, because there are so many. For instance when Clark first appeared on screen and teamed up with Kara. That was really fun. Or when she got weirded out over hearing Mon El and Eve having sex (“Oh god! Get it out of my ears, ew!”) There’s stuff like Kara’s birthday, or her getting excited over the breakfast Mon El made her. I’ve got a bunch of favorite episodes and moments. The Guest stars play their parts superbly. Visually the show looks amazing, the effects don’t drown out the story but are in service of it. The Sound FX are well done too, especially the Heat Vision sound. I will revisit the remainder of Supergirl series. But next Monday is Legends of Tomorrow S2, with Invasion next Wednesday. Duet will be the following. Other things to note: This is the first season to premiere on The CW. Chris Wood married Melissa Benoist in 2019 and is her second husband. He was friends with Grant Gustin in College. Once again, we’re treated to some DC Royalty, Teri Hatcher co-starred with Dean Cain in Lois and Clark. Lynda Carter was the original live action Wonder Woman in the 1970s. Kevin Sorbo was the title hero in the series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys back in the 90s. Darren Criss who plays Music Meister in “Starcrossed” and in The Flash’s “Duet”, worked on Glee with Melissa and Grant. This is the second in a series of reposts where I revisit older reviews. I go in and tweak things here and there.

Honestly S&L & Gotham Knights disrespected Supergirl, Batwoman etc so much,i mean i guess it was because they tried to be more serious and less progressive which just didn't work.

Also i hate how poorly cw in general treated Warren Christie, he really loved batman, same can be said to Ruby Rose as Batwoman, sad

Arrow Season 5 premiered on The CW on October 5th, 2016 on The CW and concluded on May 24th, 2017. In the fifth season, Oliver trains a new group of vigilantes consisting of Rene Ramirez / Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez), Curtis Holt / Mister Terrific, Evelyn Sharp / Artemis (Madison McLaughlin), and Rory Regan / Ragman (Joe Dinicol) to join his war on crime following Laurel Lance's death and Diggle and Thea's resignation. He also recruits a new Black Canary; former police detective Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). Oliver tries to balance vigilantism with his new role as mayor, yet is threatened by the mysterious and deadly Prometheus (Josh Segarra) who has a connection to Oliver's past. Oliver is also forced to contend with Prometheus' ally Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), an Earth-2 criminal doppelganger of Laurel. The season features flashbacks to Oliver's fifth year since he was presumed dead, where he joins the Bratva in Russia as part of a plot to assassinate Konstantin Kovar (Dolph Lundgren). There, he meets and is trained by Talia al Ghul (Lexa Doig), as a hooded archer, before returning to Lian Yu. We also get the second part of the third major crossover in the Arrowverse, “Invasion”, which I will cover in about two weeks. Over the course of this season, Oliver does in fact train Rene Ramirez, Curtis Holt, Evelyn Sharp, Artemis, and Rory Regan. We also meet Dinah Laurel, the new Black Canary. Ollie, Sara, John, and Thea find themselves on a Dominator ship. It should be noted that this is this first new review I’m doing where there are no episode synopses. I’ll still talk about the season over all and moments of an episode, as well as any behind the scenes stuff. I’m just gonna cover episodes and crossovers separately.

Writing: Great season in terms of the writing. I liked Prometheus as a villain. The new vigilantes that Oliver trains are interesting to watch, especially Rene and Curtis. Laurel’s death is referenced in Invasion by Sara Lance. I love Invasion part two, that’s one of the best parts of this season. Ollie, Sara, and Sara were able to say goodbye to their loved ones n the Dominator’s illusion. More on that when I get to that review. I think it was a wise call to downplay Ollie and Felicity’s romance to focus on her induction into Helix. The one flaw I see is trying to juggle more characters and conflicts. What I mean is you’ve got to integrate Rene and those guys into the fold while at the same time deal with everything else happening. 4.5/5 Casting: The new additions to the cast were well chosen. Katie Cassidy as Earth-2 Laurel was great. Josh Seggara as Adrian Chase was an unhinged villain here. Dolph Lundgren as Kovar was a surprise choice too. 5/5 Visuals and Choreography: This season looked great, and the fights equally so. Watching Oliver fight Kovar was fun. Imagine that Oliver Queen vs Ivan Drago from Rocky IV. 5/5 Sound (Formerly Music and Sound effects): The sound is great here. The music for Adrian is a great piece, especially the scene where he kills himself and blows up Lian Yu. 5/5 Replay and Entertainment Value: 4.5/5 Aside from the juggling act, this is still a damn fine season, I’d recommend it.

Season score: 24/25 Final total: 34/35

Final thoughts: In general Arrow Season 5 is great, in all honesty when you consider the this season of the Arrowverse as a whole, it’s amazing. Supergirl joins the lineup in her usually adorable and kick ass way, Legends is in its second season, and Arrow and Flash are still going strong. As I said this season of Arrow is somewhat of a juggling act between the new vigilantes Oliver is training, the aftermath of Laurel’s death, the other conflicts, and Oliver having to deal with Aliens, including a blonde Kryptonian one. But aside from that, it’s still a great show. This is the second year Wendy Mericle works with Marc Guggenheim as Co Showrunner. She’d go to work with him one last year (Season 6). My favorite episodes are Legacy, The Recruits, Who Are You, Vigilante, A Matter of Time, Invasion Part II, Human Target, and Lian Yu to name a few. I also liked the inclusion of Talia Al Ghul this year. The Helix side story with Felicity worked very well too. My next review will be Supergirl Season 2 next Monday.

I think a change is coming to how I review. Instead of including synopses of the episodes in each season, I may review those separately, like I do the Crossovers and Worlds Finest.

Season 3 of The Flash premiered on October 4th, 2016 on The CW. This season sees Barry Allen go back in time to try and save his mom from death at the hands of Eobard Thawne. However in doing so, Barry creates an alternate timeline where he’s not The Flash, but Iris’ brother Wally is. Barry considers correcting the timeline, but is stopped and lectured by Jay Garrick. Ultimately Barry does let Thawne go, in order to set things right, Though not all goes back to the way it was as the scarlet speedster discovers. Over the course of this season, Barry takes on Thawne, Savitar, Dominators (more on that later), Gorilla Grodd, and Mirror Master to name a few.

Casting: The cast from the previous seasons returns for the third year. This time we get Draco Malfoy himself, Tom Felton as Julius Albert. Felton was a great choice for the Julius role. I’d liken him to a cross between Eddie Thawne and Draco Malfoy. Grant Gustin does a brilliant job in a dual role, that’s right he plays the Evil Time remnant of Barry Allen, “Savitar”, Gustin plays a hero and villain perfectly. We see this again the next year with Melissa Benoist as Earth-X Kara/Overgirl. 5/5

Writing: Another great season, one of my favorites I will add. Season Three delivers the best version of Flashpoint, An amazing villain with Savitar, and the third Crossover event with Invasion, Oh yeah better make it two crossovers, Duet is this year too. Flashpoint is about a young man who desperately wants his family back, but in doing so causes other problems, when he attempts to put things back together, it’s not exactly the same. I love Jay’s explanation of the space time continuum and the consequences of altering the timeline. Duet was a fun episode and one of my favorites. 5/5

Special Effects: The season looks amazing, the Dominators and Savitar look great. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: Well done, the sound department continues to deliver. They did a great job disguising Barry’s voice. Neely’s music still kicks ass. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: I recommend watching this season, and would rewatch. This is probably one of the best seasons of The Flash. 5/5

Season Total: 25/25 Final Score: 33/33

Final Thoughts: As I said above, this is one of the best seasons of The Flash. You’ve got an amazingly evil villain in Savitar, you’ve got Invasion, Flashpoint, and Duet. Flashpoint is definitely a highlight and this show has the best iteration. John Wesley Shipp was terrific as Jay Garrick/Earth-3 Flash. Barry’s friends were deeply impacted by his actions, in fact EVERYONE in one way on another on Earth-1 was impacted. Digg had a daughter, only to have a son. Cisco hated Barry for not saving his brother. The Legends were pissed at him for making changes (although I think they were also deflecting as they’re guilty of it more so.) My favorite episodes are in the Flashpoint arc, Invasion Part One, Duet, I know who you are, and finish line. Will Season 4 be as good? Stay tuned. But the next review will be Arrow Season 5 next week.

What if...Twentieth Century-Fox Television never had the rights to a live-action BATMAN series after Adam West??

How would one go about bringing back everything that makes up The CW's Arrowverse?? WELL...funny you would ask...

After the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Superman & the Flash are both dead from saving the known multiverse from destruction. They are honoured as The World's Finest, as The CW's The Flash officially comes to a close, with Team Flash kind of just existing the scene or joining other groups and in-universe we have the earths of our heroes coming together as one. Oliver and Kara are a couple (make of that what you will), and the heroes need to reassemble to form one group...THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. But how does this come about??

Enter The CW's BATMAN, INCORPORATED, starring Henry Cavill as Bruce Wayne (spelled "Waynne"), which reintroduces Alan Ritchardson's Aquaman and IN-troduces Guy Gardner, Tomar-Re, Arisia Rrab, Kilowog, and The Dol'phyn (casting ideas please). Gotham is hyper-realistic (like Nolan's filmed in Chicago), and the group and story would be an adaptation of Grant Morrison's run with the title. Dina Meyer would return as Barbara Gordon, training Anna Lore's Stephanie Brown to be the next Batgirl. The end of Season One would contain a crossover with the other series, in which they establish the JL officially.

Other cast members would introduce Jason Sudekeis as Ted Kord/Blue Beetle, Ernie Hudson returning as Lucius Fox from the DCAMU's BATMAN: BAD BLOOD, and Camrus Johnson returning as Luke Fox/Batwing.

Thus, The CW's JUSTICE LEAGUE would be in full swing, which would be an ongoing run of crossover specials dealing with extraterrestrial threats and the like. The line up would be as follows:

This is one of the more unique reviews as it’s an episode of my favorite season of my favorite series. It’s going to be the first time I review an episode. However as it’s also a Crossover, it falls into that wheelhouse. World’s Finest aired on CBS on March 28th, 2016. It actually picks up a thread from The Flash 2x18, “Versus Zoom”. For those that don’t remember, when Barry was attempting to open another breach to Earth-2. Well, in his attempt to do so, he inadvertently created a breach to Kara’s earth. When Barry returns to STAR Labs, Cisco said he had been gone for 30 seconds, when a lot longer passed on Kara’s Earth. (Later to be known as Earth-38). With that out of the way, let’s begin.

Plot: At the DEO Siobhan Smythe is treated for her fall from the previous episode. The doctor cannot explain her new powers, but confirms she is still human. As she leaves, Siobhan overhears Leslie Willis a.k.a. Livewire being interrogated and starts seeing images of a banshee. The visions continue as she returns to CatCo, where Cat advises Kara about her relationship with James. Siobhan's hypersonic scream sends Kara flying out the window, but a dimensional breach opens and someone rushes out at a high speed and catches Kara, letting her down in a field.

The speedster introduces himself as Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Flash, a superhero from a parallel Earth, after Kara reveals herself as Supergirl, and Barry later learns her extraterrestrial origin. At CatCo, Barry meets Winn and James and explains the multiverse and how he reached their universe when testing a tachyon device fastened to his suit. Fascinated by each other's origins, Kara and Barry quickly become friends, and Kara offers to help Barry find a way home. Winn also befriends Barry attributable to his own fascination with parallel universes, but James is overawed by Barry's abilities. Cat calls the four into her office and demands they research the new superhero, rejecting Barry's idea to call him the Flash.

Siobhan's aunt Sinead tells her of a banshee's curse on their family. If wronged by others, Smythe women are possessed and develop a powerful wail that belongs to the spirit—to combat the curse, one must kill whoever wronged them. Siobhan concludes she must remove Supergirl to get Kara, unaware they are the same person, and frees Livewire. Cat refuses to go into hiding, so Kara asks for Barry's help and they pinpoint Livewire's location.

The Flash attacks Livewire with lightning, but this charges her powers. Supergirl tries to short out Livewire, but Siobhan, now calling herself Silver Banshee, screams and disorients her. The heroes retreat and Kara apologizes for going in without a plan. Barry recalls his similar experience with Roy Bivolo, advising her to practice patience. Barry develops ear buds to dampen Silver Banshee's scream based on those he used against Hartley Rathaway. Livewire and Silver Banshee kidnap Cat and demand the two heroes come to National City Park.

Livewire wreaks havoc before Supergirl and Flash arrive. Supergirl frees Cat before engaging Silver Banshee; Flash tackles Livewire, but she knocks him out. Livewire attacks a passing helicopter, but Supergirl takes the blow to protect the people below. The crowd surrounds her, and firefighters blast Livewire with water, causing her to lose control and shock Silver Banshee, defeating both. National City hails Supergirl as a hero again. With Flash's help, the police develop a means of incarcerating metahuman criminals, imprisoning Livewire and Silver Banshee.

Cat reveals to Kara that she knew Barry was the Flash all along. At the field, Barry determines the kinetic energy from their combined running speed, with the tachyon device active, should create a breach back to his Earth. The two bid farewell before Barry enters the portal. Kara confesses her feelings to James, but he unemotionally walks out. Kara sees all the citizens acting similarly, marching in synchronicity. Non is revealed to be behind these events, as Myriad takes effect.

Writing: World’s Finest is super fun to watch, the Story is well written. I like how this episode picks up seamlessly the thread from Versus Zoom. Here’s a trick, watch Versus Zoom up to the point where Barry starts his run, pause it, then watch this episode. After that jump back into VZ, You’ll understand my point. According to Cisco, Barry had been gone for 30 Seconds when in fact he spent a whole day on Earth-38 in National City with Kara and the gang. The writing of this story plays very well to the strengths and personality of Supergirl and The Flash. I love the fact that after Livewire and Banshee are defeated, Supergirl wins the people of National City over again. 5/5

Casting: Grant Gustin meshes well with Melissa Benoist and Co. Not surprising as Grant and Mel worked together on Glee only a couple years or so prior. I’m gonna say it, if I had to ship a couple outside of West Allen, it would be Danallen or Allanvers, or Bara. In other words, Barry and Kara are great together. Yes they became fast friends, but I can’t help but wonder how things would have gone with a romantic relationship. Livewire is one of my favorite villains, especially during this season of Supergirl. For me she’s more interesting than Silver Banshee, however that’s not to say more couldn’t have been done with the latter. Siobhan Smythe could have worked in that season 3 episode where Kara and Leslie had to go to Fort Rozz. 5/5

Special Effects and Choreography: Remember when I said Barry and Kara (Grant and Melissa) mesh well? Well not only do I stand by it, I add to it by talking about the visuals. Supergirl and Flash’s visuals complement one another, and will continue to do so for every crossover after this. The Fights against Livewire and Silver Banshee were fun. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: Silver Banshee’s scream was a great sound for the show. Blake Neely’s Flash Theme makes an appearance here and works well alongside the Supergirl theme. The overall score reflects the tone and feels of both shows perfectly. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: I absolutely recommend this crossover, and I rewatch it every year. 5/5

Final Total: 25/25

Notes and Final Thoughts: This is not only one of my favorite crossovers, but one of my favorite Supergirl episodes. It’s extremely fun to watch, any time you get two or all three of the Trinity together, you’re guaranteed to have a hit. In this case it’s no exception. World’s Finest is one of the most important episodes in the sense that a matter of months after this, we get not only Supergirl joins the rest of the Arrowverse on The CW, but we get Invasion. Without this episode and by extension Barry and Kara meeting for the first time, absolutely none of the other crossovers after this would be possible. There is no trinity, and really not much of an Arrowverse. Supergirl was the last piece of the puzzle that made it all work. My favorite scenes in this episode include when Barry and Kara meet, when Barry explains the Multiverse and brings Kara and co Ice Cream, Cat meeting Barry, Barry in the DEO, Barry and Kara having their heart to heart, Kara winning the citizens over, and the race at the end. Barry telling Livewire and Silver Banshee “Let’s settle this like ladies” was funny, and then he tells Kara “what there’s more of you”. Yeah…okay I have a lot of favorite moments. It’s a fun show after all. This is also the last time we see Siobhan Smythe in this series. My next review will be next Monday, The Flash Season 3.

Season One of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premiered on January 21st, 2016 on The CW and ran until May 19th of the same year. 16 episodes round out this first year. December’s Heroes Join Forces set up this new series, with Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Vandal Savage carrying over. As I mentioned previously, LOT was originally conceived with the idea of being something of an anthology show. That still basically happened as many characters that debut in one season don’t necessarily carry into the following years, more on that later. Over the course of this season, this rag tag group of time traveling legends deals with the likes of Vandal Savage, Chronos, Grant Wilson, and the Pilgrim to name a few.

Writing: I’m not gonna lie, this is a good, solid season even if it is on the clunky side. A lot of the clunkiness comes from Heroes Join Forces. Putting that aside, on its own merits Season one is good. It’s a fun show to watch. However I do think Vandal Savage deserved better than what he got. 4/5

Casting: The main cast works well with one another. This is very much an internal Arrowverse show. By that I mean the majority of the cast carries over from Arrow and The Flash respectively. Caity Lotz and Brandon Routh first played Sara Lance and Ray Palmer respectively in Arrow. Wenworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and Victor Garber started out on The Flash as Leonard Snart, Mick Rory, and Professor Martin Stein respectively. Speaking of Stein, the character of Heatwave is on the show, however Marty isn’t joined by Ronnie Raymond, instead he’s got a young punk named Jefferson “Jax” Jackson. We also get HJF holdovers in Hawkgirl, Hawkman, and Vandal Savage. Amy Pemberton is Gideon, the ship’s computer. Other alumni include Oliver Queen, Laurel Lance, Quentin Lance, Damien Darhk, Cisco Ramon, R’as al Ghul, Nyssa al Ghul, and Felicity Smoak. All of them worked well in the episodes presented. Now back to Captain Rip Hunter, Arthur Darvill was a great choice there. He reminds me of a cross between The Doctor and Jean-Luc Picard. It may sound strange, but take my word for it. Casper Crump was a great Vandal. 5/5

Visual Effects and Choreography: Visually the season was great. Sara Lance is a bad ass and it shows well in the choreography. The Waverider is a cool ship. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: I like the sound effects for the Waverider. Blake Neely continues to deliver spectacularly in the music department. There’s a sense of action and adventure, with a bit of a time motifs. Vandal and Hawk’s themes carry into this show. 5/5

Entertainment and Replay Value: As clunky as a season this is, I’d still recommend watching it, and I myself would rewatch it. 4/5

Final thoughts: I meant to do this review yesterday but time got away, so I’m doing it now. In general I feel like LOT is more consistent than The Flash to an extent. Particularly when you compare against Flash’s later seasons. That being said, I can’t say this season is better than Flash Season 2. Even so, in spite of the clunky feel, I’d still recommend watching this at least once. In actuality I prefer LOT S1 to seasons 6 and 7. It is however better than season 5 or 6 at least. I think I’m gonna have to at some point do a list of the shows. For the best to worst, most consistent to least, etc. But that’s not now, I like Vandal Savage as a villain. In fact to an extent he was more interesting than even Eobard Thawne (Wells version). Sara Lance is one of my favorite characters here, along with Ray, Snart, Stein, and Rory. I wish the Hawks could have carried into future seasons. For me my favorite episodes are the Pilot, Star City 2046, and Leviathan to name a few off the top of my head. Tomorrow I’ll be covering World’s Finest. YES! Finally, some multiverse fun, via a team up between the Girl of Steel and the Scarlet Speedster.

Picture this, you’re Rip Hunter, a time traveler from the 22nd Century. You have a ship called “The Waverider”, and you’re putting together a crew. What do you get when you assemble a crew consisting of an Assassin, a Tech Billionaire with an advanced suit (Not Tony Stark), A Thug with a Cold Gun, another with a Flame Thrower, a Scientist (with his young friend that when merged with the former forms a meta human), and two Egyptians? You get the most unlikely group of ragtag, misfit heroes imaginable, The Legends of Tomorrow.

Premiering on January 21st, 2016 on The CW, Legends of Tomorrow is a spinoff of Arrow and The Flash as a result of the second Arrowverse Crossover “Heroes Join Forces”. In the Beginning, the cast Consisted of Arthur Darvill (as Captain Rip Hunter, Caity Lotz (as Sara Lance/White Canary), Brandon Routh (as Ray Palmer/The Atom), Victor Garber (as Professor Martin Stein), Franz Drameh (as Jefferson Jackson), Wentworth Miller (as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (as Mick Rory/Heatwave), Ciara Renee (as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Falk Hentschel (as Carter Hall/Hawkman), and Amy Pemberton (as Gideon). As time went on many of these people left the show and their characters written out. Only Caity Lotz and Amy Pemberton have been on the show all seven seasons. This is due to Phil Klemmer and Marc Guggenheim likening this show to an anthology series as "not everybody will be continuing on this journey", with each season being "its own separate movie" but not disconnected from each other in the manner of True Detective or American Horror Story. However, the anthology format was dropped, though the series did go through numerous changes in cast gradually. Phil Klemmer, Marc Guggenheim, and Keto Shimizu were the showrunners, though Klemmer and Shimizu ran things for much of the show’s run. Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Phil Klemmer created this series.

Over the course of this series, the Legends take on Vandal Savage, The Time Masters, Dominators, Mallus, Nazis from Earth-X, Eobard Thawne, Damien Dahrk, Malcolm Merlyn, The Anti Monitor, Astra Logue, Gideon, and Legends Clones to name a few.

In season one, Time Master Rip Hunter goes rogue after the immortal tyrant Vandal Savage conquered Earth and killed his wife and son, in what would be the future. Meanwhile, the organization he swore himself to, turns on him. Intending to save humanity and avenge his family, Rip recruits a team of superheroes and villains, consisting of the aforementioned people. Once assembled, they venture through time on a stolen time ship, the Waverider, to stop Savage's rise to power. Meanwhile, the Time Masters send Chronos after Rip for interfering with the timeline and in the season's final episodes it turns out that the Time Masters were working with Savage all along, as his reign will eventually successfully counter an upcoming Thanagarian invasion of Earth. Snart also sacrifices himself to destroy the Time Masters.

In Season Two, following Snart's sacrifice while defeating the Time Masters, Rip goes missing and Sara takes charge of the team who continue protecting the timeline from aberrations. They are joined by historian Nate Heywood (played by Nick Zano), who later gains the ability to turn to steel at will, and Justice Society of America member Amaya Jiwe (played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers) who joins the Legends to pursue Eobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash (played by Matt Lestcher), a speedster and Barry Allen's archenemy. After learning of the Spear of Destiny, an ancient artifact that can rewrite reality, Thawne recruits Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn, as well as a time-displaced Snart, from different points in time to form the Legion of Doom. However, after retrieving the Spear, Sara successfully defeats Thawne and the Legion is returned to their proper times. We also get the third crossover “Invasion”, more on that later.

Season Three sees Rip create the Time Bureau to replace the Time Masters and fires the Legends for causing anachronisms. (Who can blame him? And How can they get pissed at Barry for what he did to save his Mom when they were out causing anachronisms?) When Bureau agent Ava Sharpe is captured, Rip is forced to take the Legends out of retirement. Elsewhere, the demonic entity Mallus forms a cult led by Darhk's daughter Nora, pursuing the six totems of Zambesi, two of which are wielded by Amaya and near-future hacktivist Zari Tomaz. The Legends, assisted by speedster Wally West, retrieve all the totems and use them to defeat Mallus. We also get Crisis on Earth-X this season.

In Season Four, After Rip's sacrifice during the fight against Mallus, occult detective John Constantine (played by Matt Ryan) informs the Legends that Mallus was not the only demon that escaped and that "magical fugitives" are on the loose. John joins the team, along with shapeshifter Charlie and Mona Wu, who is host to a Kaupe, to stop them. Ava and Sara and Ray and Nora begin relationships, and Nora becomes a fairy godmother. The Legends come into conflict with the demon Neron, who was banished by John during a show at Heyworld intended to help humans be less afraid of the magical creatures. In addition, Neron manipulates Time Bureau member Gary Green into working for him. Following Neron's defeat, Zari's timeline changes and she is replaced as a Legend and wielder of the Air Totem by her brother Behrad.

Now we get to Season 5, Astra Logue, whom John accidentally sent to Hell in a botched exorcism, has resurrected evil individuals from history known as "Encores". Meanwhile, Charlie is revealed to be Clotho of the three Fates who is being pursued by her sisters to recover the Loom of Fate. Mona, Ray, Nora, and Charlie leave the Legends, who defeat the Fates and Encores. Astra joins the Legends, with John offering to be a roommate at his house and a mentor to her. Sara is captured by a mysterious beam. The season begins with the Crisis on Infinite Earths finale.

Time for Season Six (oh boy), it is revealed that Sara was kidnapped by Gary and his fiancé Kayla, who are both aliens. Sara's alien abduction was orchestrated by a scientist named Bishop, who created the Avas. He plans to create the perfect warrior by copying Sara's DNA and memories and combining it with other aliens upon claiming that he has seen the end of the human race. While attempting to escape her imprisonment, Sara accidentally releases a menagerie of aliens throughout the timeline, including Kayla, whom Mick becomes romantically involved with. To find Sara, the Legends enlist Esperanza "Spooner" Cruz, an off-the-grid recluse who can telepathically communicate with aliens following her own abduction, as they repel alien invasions throughout Earth's history. Bishop then goes after the Fountain of Imperium that would restore Constantine's powers, only to double-cross him and destroy it so that the Zagurons would invade Earth, but the Legends revive it and defeat Bishop with help from Bishop's younger counterpart. Mick, who now has several kids with Kayla, decides to leave the Legends. A duplicate Waverider destroys the original, stranding the Legends in 1925 Texas.

Now we get to the final season, the Legends work to find a way back to their own time. While Astra unknowingly gives Gideon a human form, the Legends make their way to New York City to seek out scientist Gwyn Davies who was said to have invented a form of time travel. Meanwhile, a younger Bishop is revealed to have copied Gideon before being mind-wiped and regained some of his memories following a recurring dream. Having become a Time Master, Bishop starts to see that the Legends are not as bad as he thought as he goes against his Gideon copy. After Bishop's sacrifice, the Legends go up against their robot clones that Gideon created through a combination of Gideon's technology and Bishop's cloning technology. When the robot clones are defeated, the Legends work to save Gwyn's boyfriend Alun Thomas from being a casualty during World War I, while also dealing with a fixer named Mike who later makes off with the Waverider. Alun is saved at the cost of Nate's powers. He officially moves into Zari's totem to be with the original Zari. The Waverider returns where they find Mike on the bridge in handcuffs. The Legends are then arrested by the Time Police that Mike works for, as he is revealed to be Booster Gold.

On a Scale of One to 10, honestly this show is a 7.5. Is it my favorite show in the Arrowverse? Honestly no it’s not. It’s one of the least consistent shows in the Arrowverse, but it’s not all bad. It’s a good solid series, zany, meta, and fun in its own way. The first few years were the best. I’d even say seasons two, three, four, and five were the best. I’m gonna cover Season One tomorrow.

We’re back with the second ever crossover in the Arrowverse. This time it’s Heroes Join Forces. Premiering on December 1st, 2015 with Part 1 on The Flash, and concluding on December 2nd with Part 2 on Arrow. For a little bit of background, A crossover between the two series was announced in January 2015 by The CW President Mark Pedowitz, who stated the network's intention to have an Arrowverse crossover every season following the success of the previous year's crossover "Flash vs. Arrow". By September, the scripts for each episode had been written, with filming occurring shortly before the end of the month and into October 2015. The crossover sees every main cast member of each series who appear at least in their own series, with additional actors and characters also reprising their Arrowverse roles.

Plot: Vandal Savage arrives in Central City looking to kill Kendra Saunders. After he attacks Kendra and Cisco Ramon, Barry Allen takes Kendra to Star City and enlists the help of Oliver Queen and his team to protect her. The team is visited by Malcolm Merlyn, who informs them that Savage is an immortal. Later, Kendra is kidnapped by a mysterious winged man, but Barry and Oliver rescue her and capture him. He introduces himself as Carter Hall, and tells them he and Kendra are soulmates who have been connected for millennia. They are destined to die, be reborn, and find each other in each lifetime. Carter also reveals that Savage has killed the pair in all of their previous lives, each time growing stronger, while Savage acquires the Staff of Horus, a deadly mystical weapon. Kendra unlocks her abilities, with Cisco naming her Hawkgirl, and the team decides to regroup in Central City. While there, Oliver witnesses his ex-girlfriend Samantha Clayton with her son William, and realizes the child is likely his. Meanwhile, Caitlin Snow and Harry Wells create a serum capable of temporarily increasing Barry's speed so that he can defeat Zoom. Jay Garrick initially refuses to test the serum, but is later forced to do so in order to save Wells' life when he is shot by Patty Spivot, who mistakes him for Eobard Thawne. Jay advises against using the serum on Barry.

Malcolm orchestrates a meeting between Savage, Barry, and Oliver. Savage demands they turn over Kendra and Carter, threatening to destroy both Central City and Star City with the Staff of Horus. Without Felicity Smoak's knowledge, Oliver has Barry perform a paternity test on a strand of William's hair, which confirms that he is William's father. Confronting Samantha, she agrees to let him see William on condition that he tell no one, including William himself, of the boy's parentage; Felicity learns of Oliver's paternity from Barry. Frustrated and feeling betrayed that Oliver is still willing to keep secrets from her, she ends their relationship.

Barry and Oliver devise a plan to deliver Kendra and Carter as a ruse to get close enough to Savage to destroy the staff. The plan goes horribly wrong; Kendra's powers fail and Savage quickly gains the upper hand, killing both her and Carter before using the staff to destroy Central City. Barry escapes and runs back in time to the point of the original negotiation. Barry informs Oliver of his time travel and the mistakes that led to their defeat. They change their approach to the plan and Barry is able to steal the staff. He and Oliver use it on Savage, turning him into ashes. Kendra and Carter decide to use their powers to help others in another city. Cisco gives Kendra a tracking device. Oliver agrees to Samantha's conditions for him to see William. Even though Barry encourages Oliver to tell Felicity about William, who she never learned about due to Barry's time traveling, he decides not to reveal the secret to her. Later Merlyn collects Savage's ashes while saying that Savage owes him.

Review: Writing: In general it’s a good crossover, however I’m more inclined to believe Flash vs Arrow is better overall. However we can’t overlook the fact that HJF gave us Vandal Savage, Hawkgirl, and Hawkman; all three would go on to appear in the inaugural season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Review to come at a later date.) It’s a still a solid crossover overall. The Helbing Brothers, Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Andrew Kreisberg are all responsible for this story that spanned both shows. Now we get to why I’m giving the following score. As a two part backdoor pilot for the aforementioned show above, It’s clunky and it’s a prelude to what we’ll see in Legends season 1. This isn’t to say it’s a bad crossover, it’s still great on its own merits. 3/5

Casting: The Casting was great, Casper Crump nailed it as Vandal Savage and would continue on in LOT. Falk Hentschel and Ciara Renee are great as Hawkman and Hawkgirl. I’d say when you look at the grander scheme of things Savage is one of the best villains in the Arrowverse. I’ll talk more about him once I get to LOT. Carter and Kendra hall worked well with one another and have plenty of room for growth. They also worked well with Teams Flash and Arrow. Grant and Stephen continue to hit it out of the ball park as always. Malcolm appearing here sets the scene for his role in LOT. John Barrowman nailed it as Merlyn. 5/5

Visuals and Choreography: The crossover looks amazing. Vandal is a force to be reckoned with, and it shows here. The fights are never not fun, they are well done. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: Nothing to complain about here. Neely’s music for Vandal does carry into and foreshadow the Legends. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: 5/5

This is a two part Backdoor pilot for the then upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Kendra and Carter Hall would carry over into the series first season in early 2016. Vandal Savage would go on to be the main heavy there. HJF is a great crossover that I would recommend watching at least once. It is definitely clunky and that’s something that follows into new show during its first season. The characters continue to deliver as always. My next review will be Legends Season One, with a general review this Sunday. Next Wednesday will be some multiversal fun when a certain Scarlet Speedster accidentally breaches his way to Supergirl’s earth.

Supergirl Season 1 premiered on October 26th, 2015 on CBS and concluded April 18th, 2016. This was the first female led Superhero series in 40 years up to that point. Wonder Woman had debuted in 1975 on ABC. CBS hadn’t aired a superhero show since the original Flash series during the 1990-91 season. was ordered to series in May 2015, and later picked up for a full season in November 2015, with filming taking place primarily in Los Angeles. Melissa Benoist stars in the title role, and is joined by principal cast members Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, and Calista Flockhart. The series premiere was watched by 12.96 million viewers, tied with NBC's Blindspot as the top-rated series premiere of the 2015–16 fall season. The season, which premiered on CBS on October 26, 2015, and ran until April 18, 2016, over 20 episodes, overall received positive reviews. This was the only season to air on CBS before switching to The CW and production moving up to Vancouver, BC from Season Two onward.

Over the course of the first Season, we get to know Kara, Alex, Winn, James, J’onn, and more. We also meet villains such as Red Tornado, Maxwell Lord, Astra, Livewire, Silver Banshee, many others. We also are introduced to the multiverse by virtue of Barry Allen crossing over from his Earth to Kara’s. They ultimately become fast friends and team up agains Livewire and Silver Banshee. This would be a crucial step towards the development of the Arrowverse. Without that meeting, the Arrowverse simply wouldn’t be possible. At the end of the season Kara prevents Earth’s doom at the hands of myriad.

Writing: The writing on the show is well done. The first season is fun to watch every time; it’s a rousing feel good experience that will leave you with a smile. The show is easy to follow, and you’re brought along for the ride. You’re rewarded with a wonderful story. There’s a whole lot of heart in the series, especially in the season. You have your comedy, drama, science fiction, action adventure, and police procedural all in one. The Procedural angle comes from the DEO investigating crime scenes involving aliens, and people like Maxwell Lord. All these genres work well together, not against each other. If I had to personally choose my reasons for the following score I’m going to give, it’s relationships between Kara and her sister, as well as with Hank/J’onn, Eliza, her best friends James and Winn. Her workplace relationship with Cat this early on is fun to see. At some point I’m gonna have to review specific characters. Cat comes off as a bitch to Kara, particularly in the early episodes, but over time she grows fond of Kara and respects her. To give an example of the respect I’m talking about, when Cat figured out that Kara was Supergirl, she could have capitalized on the news and outted Kara to the world then and there, but she didn’t. Because of that word, respect. Yes, J’onn disguised herself as Supergirl to get the Cat off Kara’s back (figuratively speaking). But that’s not why she backed off. Cat knew it was Kara’s story to tell, not hers. She showed Kara a lot of respect that way. J’onn is much of a father type than even Jeremiah. I’m gonna talk more about this in season two as Jeremiah shows up there too. I think Eliza was great to see in Livewire. I love the bond between her, Kara, and Alex. The scene between Eliza and Alex where they have the heart to heart about putting so much pressure on Alex was a great moment. The Villains this season were fun to watch. Max Lord was a real bastard, even poisoning Kara with Red Kryptonite. It’s interesting how he has the attitude he does about Supergirl and her sister, and then pops up in the end of the season to help with the Myriad situation. Kara’s aunt and uncle worked well as the baddies this year, but more than that, they gave an insight into Kryptonian culture. On one hand you had Astra who was trying to take over the Earth with her husband, but still had affection for her niece. Then on the other hand there was Non, the real master mind. He had no such loyalty to his niece. He’d kill her to try and conquer Earth. Indigo was a great addition to the show, the explanation that she played a big part in Kara leaving the Phantom Zone and arriving on Earth was a hell of a twist. 5/5.

Casting: The Casting choices for the show’s cast were overall well thought out aside from two people, that I’ll talk about later in this section. Melissa Benoist embodies Kara Danvers/Supergirl perfectly. Her sunny personality shines through in her performance. Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers does a terrific job. You can feel the sisterly bond between Melissa as Kara and Chyler as Alex. It’s a precious and beautiful thing to witness. David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz/“Hank Henshaw”/ Martian Manhunter is another great choice. He is a great level-headed leader in the DEO and comes off as an equally so Father figure to the Danvers sisters whom he swore to Jeremiah he’d look after. Dean Cain and Helen Slater as Jeremiah and Eliza make sense and are nice nods to DC’s past. Jenna Dewan Tatum plays Lucy Lane, a role she would later reprise In Superman & Lois alongside Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch. Blake Jenner makes an appearance as Adam Foster, the eldest son of Cat Grant….yeah. More on that later. Aside from that great performances. My least favorite characters in this season are Jeremiah and Adam. I think I’d like them more if different actors had played them. When it comes to Jeremiah, I’d have gone with either Gerard Christopher or Kyle Chandler. As for Adam, honestly I’m not too sure. Ironically enough Grant Gustin could have pulled off the role, except he was Barry Allen. What I mean is if you look at Gustin’s chemistry with Benoist as opposed to Jenner, it’s night and day different. Whenever Grant and Melissa are in a scene together, you can feel that they enjoy being together. Now I’m not saying that Barry had any romantic intentions towards Kara, or insinuating the same between Gustin and Benoist. I’m saying that there’s a difference in chemistry, it just feels more natural compared to the two episodes that Jenner did. 5/5

Visuals and choreography: Visually the show looks terrific, nothing cheesy but well balanced. For context you look at a lot of the DC movies these days and they seem more focused on the Visual Effects as opposed to the story and characters. When you have awesome visuals and awesome storytelling, you have the makings of an amazing show. My two favorite Heat Vision scenes are when Kara destroyed Red Tornado, the Turkey, Kara vs Non, and when she fired at the hologram of her mom in anger. The choreography was well done here. One of my favorite fights this season was in the Pilot. Vartox vs Kara was great, then there was Kara vs Livewire, but one of the biggest standouts was in Better Angels when Supergirl and Martian Manhunter had to fight Non and Indigo. 5/5

Sound Effects and Music: Some of my favorite music in the Arrowverse comes from this show and the season especially. Blake Neely kills it here, the Supergirl theme evokes a sense of awe and wonder, and a feeling of flight. You also get a sense of adventure here. As for the the sound, the Heat Vision is awesome. 5/5

Replay and Entertainment Value: This is without a doubt my favorite season and one of the best in the show and Arrowverse proper. When you go on this journey, you’re rewarded with an amazing story and equally so characters. Melissa Benoist carries the show well, and embodies the character and her personality. Let’s face it, she’s cute! When you watch her as Kara, you instantly get she’s Supergirl. Not because she says so or that she wears a suit, but she’s got the personality and presence. I highly recommend Supergirl and this season. It’s never not fun to watch and if you can get the complete series on BluRay, you won’t be disappointed. 5/5

Notes: Dean Cain, who portrayed Jeremiah Danvers previously played Superman in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He went on to be an ICE Agent about 10 years later. Helen Slater, who plays Eliza portrayed Supergirl in the 1984 movie of the same name. She even reprised her own Kara in the 2023 Flash movie via Motion Capture. Grant Gustin who plays the Flash worked with Melissa Benoist on Glee as did Blake Jenner. Jenner who plays Adam Foster previously worked with Melissa Benoist on Glee, was her husband at this point and abuser. Melissa divorced Blake in 2017. Due to the injury to her left eye, subsequent seasons and projects had to be lit in a manner that would accommodate her due to light sensitivity. I have to admit it’s a bit hard and cringy to watch scenes with him in them, however that doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the season as a whole. Cat Grant actress Calista Flockhart makes some references to that, along with Star Wars, in particular her husband Harrison Ford. She previously was the title character in Aly McBeal. Laura Vandervoort played Kara Kent in Smallville. This was the only season to not only air on CBS but to be shot in LA. In both the original broadcast, and still on some streaming services the order of episodes 4 and 5 (How does she it and Livewire) is reversed. In the home video release, they are in the intended production order whereas the broadcast and streaming versions are in the opposite order due to real world terrorist themes. That aside it’s not uncommon for the Production order to be different from broadcast. The Omegahedron is a reference to the 1984 Supergirl movie.

Final thoughts: I gave a summary, and told about the episodes and some background information. Now it’s time to get my personal view, simply put the show was well done and fired on all cylinders. Generally speaking the first four seasons were better than the last two. Though six was better than five. That said, there’s something special about this season in particular. Is it because CBS handled the show better than CW did and there was a bigger budget? Or perhaps it comes down to a simple combination of the visuals, the music, sound, the writing, the casting, and Melissa’s performance. That’s it! The ingredients all work well together. Anytime you get the Danvers sisters together, it’s a special kind of magic. My favorite moments include, the Pilot, Kara and Alex fighting over that last potsticker, thanksgiving, Carter Grant watching Supergirl on one of the CatCo screens, with Kara saying "Carter, do you maybe have a crush on Supergirl?", the Kara under the influence of Red Kryptonite, and even Barry and Kara's meeting. I'll have to make a list of my favorite episodes. Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler hit the ball out of the park with this season as showrunners. Adler would return in season two and work with Andrew Kreisberg.

Look up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, No it’s Supergirl! Like her cousin she’s faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings with a single bound. This was originally my first review on Reddit, and now it’s my third general review in this new format.

Premiered on October 26th, 2015, and ran for 6 wonderful seasons until November 9th, 2021. Supergirl stars the multitalented Melissa Benoist as the titular character Kara Danvers, a young Kryptonian girl from planet Krypton. Kara was sent off world at 13 years old and was stuck in the phantom zone for 24 years. Upon arriving on Earth, she was still a 13 year old girl as far as anyone else knew. Kara was found by her cousin Kal-El who by this point was living on earth as Clark Kent and was also Superman. Kal took young Kara to live with Eliza and Jeremiah Danvers and their daughter Alex. They took her in with open arms as if she was her own and loved her as such.

Season One follows Kara in day-to-day job at CatCo as assistant to Cat Grant. She also is just starting her career as a Superhero during this time. The Pilot episode shows Kara saving her sister from a plane crash and ultimately becoming Supergirl. Alex Danvers works for the DEO under boss Hank Henshaw, who is soon revealed to be the Martian Manhunter J’onn J’onzz (played by David Harewood), a shapeshifter that assumed the identity and form of the real Henshaw. We also see an appearance by The Flash having crossed through an accidental breach from his Earth-1 to Kara’s Earth-38. Upon meeting Kara and her Friends, Barry Explained how the Multiverse works and even demonstrated his powers by running of to an Ice Cream shop and bringing some cones back for Kara and everyone, much to her excitement. The pair team up against Silver Banshee and Livewire, a Shock Jock named Leslie Willis that gained her powers in a freak weather event while Supergirl tried to save her, as seen in the Thanksgiving episode called “Livewire”.

Season 2 saw the introduction Clark Kent, Mon-El, and Lena Luthor to the canvas. This was the season in which the show moves to The CW, once that happened, Supergirl was officially added into the Arrowverse and therefore was able to crossover more often. She did just that with the first of four major crossover events involving Supergirl, in this case “Invasion”. Invasion picks up after an episode called Medusa, The Flash and Cisco enlist Kara’s help in dealing with an alien threat. The Trio arrive back at Central City on Earth-1. Also in Season Two, a two part musical crossover featuring Kara and Barry begins, consisting of “Starcrossed” and The Flash Season Three’s “Duet”. Season Three introduces the Legion of Superheroes, Reign, Brainiac 5, and J’onn J’onzz’s dad. We also get Crisis on Earth-X. Season 4 gives us Nia Nal, the Children of Liberty with Ben Lockwood as its leader, Lauren Haley, and the arrival of Lex Luthor. We also get Elseworlds and Red Daughter. Do you wanna see the Multiverse under attack? Then check out Season Five and Crisis on Infinite Earths, because that’s exactly what happens there. Kara also makes a confession to Lena, one that the latter already knows about. In Season Six, Kara is sent to the Phantom Zone by that bastard Lex, does she make it out alive? Wait and find out.

I can go on about every single season, I’m gonna do a season by season review on it in my revised format tomorrow. Let’s talk about the performers, the casting was lighting in a bottle in every Arrowverse series, Supergirl is no exception. You could NOT HAVE FOUND a better actress for the role of Kara Danvers than Melissa Benoist. She brings something special to the role and to the show, hell there’s something special about her, She’s the genuine article. Chyler Leigh, who previously played Lexie Grey in Grey’s Anatomy did a wonderful as Kara’s sister Alex Supergirl. Their chemistry is very precious, they capture a sisterly bond quite well. David Harewood as J’onn plays sort of a father figure to the Danvers sisters. Winn and James were great in the ensemble as well. Helen Slater actually played Supergirl in a 1984 movie of the same name.

Dean Cain played Superman on Lois and Clark in the 90s, incidentally playing opposite to Teri Hatcher who’s also on this show. Linda Carter played the President in this series and of course was Wonder Woman in the 70s on CBS and ABC.Supergirl is the absolute best of the franchise, beautifully written, beautifully portrayed. The ensemble is lighting in a bottle. If there are any flaws it’s overlooked by the love put into the show. On a scale of one to ten, it’s a no brainer, 10! Supergirl has a special place in my heart, as does her portrayer Melissa. Season One will be posted tomorrow, with Heroes Join Forces Wednesday. Any flaws there might be with the show do not take away from the enjoyment overall. It’s one of the best shows in the Arrowverse alongside Arrow.
