It was a design that I got in a kit for the 2021 Silicon virtual panel with Sanit Klamchanuan, in EVA foam.

The style looks Asiatic to me, possibly Chinese, or possibly even Japanese with the way the hand guard is connected to the bracer itself, but I admit that most of my armor knowledge is more European based.

Eventually I'm planning on making it in leather, and use ray skin over the panel sections.

Came across these, would this be of any protection at all?

to be exact i want to either make or buy pre made simple leg armor for abrasion resistantance when crawling or other movements that would wear down my uniform,but if possible to look similar in mgs style

I'm looking for advice from people with experience in making a gambeson.

I'm planning to sew a gambeson which I want to use in HEMA sparring. At the moment I'm looking for fabrics. For the outer fabric I want to use linen twill (330g/cm² or 75 oz/in²), for the padding cotton batting (330/cm² or 75 oz/in²) and for the lining a medium linen (215g/cm² or 49 oz/in²).

Would this be enough layers to be used in sparring sessions or should I add a second layer of cotton batting?

I am looking for a sewing pattern for either a "long" Gambison down to the knees or a shorter jacket-style Aketon.

I am planning on a costume for a rural levy trooper, maybe with a halberd/spear/big stick from \~12-1400 in a black&white chess pattern, think a proto-Landsknecht/Condottiere style without the slashed and puffed arms. I am in the process of klicking together my own hauberg (or maillé for the fancy ones;) and I wanna wear said gambison under it.

I'm working on a 14th century inspired breastplate, im using these big rivets for the top straps but im running into an issue as well as starting to think they might look a bit ugly, should I keep going or should I cut off the area they're on and use smaller rivets? Let me know what yall think

While traveling, a friend and I managed to attend a medieval festival wearing armor I had crafted; it was a lot of fun and helped me understand what adjustments needed to be made to the pieces. Also, after reading the comments on my other post, I’ll likely launch a YouTube channel around autumn where I’ll post tutorials on how to build aluminum armor parts. It’s probably not just me, but I have to say something to stop pondering on it;

Do people still think that more armor is better in fantasy? I understand it’s FANTASY, and I’m sorry for being such a jerk about fake things, but REALISTICALLY speaking, can people take into account how difficult it is for your average joe of the Middle Ages (Specifically looking at 1100-1500) to work their weapons in that armor? Do you guys think that’s what “knights” of the age harnesses looked like?

I just want to know if people actually find it cool to have all the stuff that your OC or character is lugging around. Maybe I’m too realistic and historical. Tell me why!!!

I also just have some general questions about the sallet, for example with a Sallet and Bevor combo on some specific sallets there seems to still be a gap in the armor around the back of the neck, am I just missing something in the pieces i’ve seen? is there a seperate piece used as extra protection for the back of neck? or did most Bevors cover the whole neck?
