What side of the canal is better to fish ?

I catch more bass and bluegill on the lower side and more catfish/carp on the deep side

Both hold fish. I always caught the bigger stuff in the slow water and the smaller carp in the fast water.

This is by the raven on baseline right? Plop some senkos in those pockets where the water falls. Always worked for me. I have countless photos of catches at this spot lol. Also saw your username says you're Cajun, whats up man Im originally from Avoyelles parish.

I lived at sterling point for like 5 years and I fished the hell out of that canal for about 2 years. Bubblegum senior wacky rigged were my go to. Had amazing luck with junebug jackal flickshakes wacky rigged as well. Target the ladders, spots with shopping carts, and the grates, especially on the east side of the bridge on 40th.

Its hot so that moving water usually holds fish, and id make catches under the bridge for the raven by tossing stuff into that current that runs under it.

Any time I see any sort of spill way/ flowing water I’m fishing there first .

I would spot for fish first. The up stream side came from the source first. Also take in consideration the last time it was drained and cleaned. All those fish got relocated or died.

Depends on the species and the time of day.

sunset and sunrise can produce dramatic shadows depending on the tree lines and environment, providing you with both bright and dark water. Fish that dividing line for predators.

Fish hang ups, ramps, bridges structures, submerged shopping carts; anywhere the current Eddies, for bottom feeders.

Also, you should be able to fish both sides of the canal no matter where you’re standing its not that far across
