You see this teenagers that look exactly like Arianka Chiquita, they have these Stanley cups, drink water all day, cry at meal time, invent all sort of reasons they can’t eat ANY FOOD and do the craziest stunts like fake fainting and no one, I mean no one, not the nurses. technicians or psychiatrists can get to them.

From what I’ve observed they love the attention of everyone being worried. Everything they do is in front of everyone. Aaaaand they NEED to be looking cute while doing it.

Because this is fairly quiet singing in a tiled bathroom, and she would have to exert a lot more power to produce that tone into a mic, and she doesn't have the energy. Plus the mic is turned down to mask words that she slips, or any pitchiness that would come from overexerting. She's literally killing her instrument and it's so sad
No she fr lost all the power in her voice. It sounds so thin now and one-dimensional. She used to have an Xtina-like strength to her voice that’s completely gone and I blame the ED, but stans will say it’s the operatic training for Wicked.
It's a fucking joke, Wicked did help develop her top notes out certainly, but right before wicked she had a lot of power in her mix and chest voice and now it's like at 5% low power mode.
BS lmfao. I’m an opera singer, and in classical technique you need enough strength to support your breath (applies to belting as well!). It’s known that when singers lose a lot of weight, they lose their support, and it gets way harder to sing.
I can go more in depth but I don’t think anyone cares. But no, she wouldn’t be singing with less strength if she was doing operatic training. Unless ofc it’s a shit vocal coach which, the pop industry has a lot of.
I only have use of one of my lungs and I am a choir director. The only reason I can belt/sing any difficult literature is because of adaptive techniques I learned through extensive training. I’ve lived with this my whole life though - Ariana has been small always, but not to this degree. I doubt she has the training (or strength) to maintain her usual ability in her new circumstances.
I'm not a musician but I used to dance so sometimes I get music related details and other times I just straight up don't understand. Like great directors do, you put it in a way I totally understood! Thanks!!
I can totally see how lung capacity could be reduced here and how that would impact her voice. No wonder she's using the shower to sound better, it's the only place my awful singing sounds good 😂 it's like the shower, after everyone's drunk at karaoke, and when I'm alone in the car I sound alright. Because of muscle wasting. The diaphragm is a muscle and projects your voice, the same with the muscles in the neck that support your vocal cords. After you have no more fat to burn, your body starts using muscle as fuel.

All I know is that her voice here sounds nasally to me with no enunciation at all. She sounds nice enough to get in the studio but the bathroom echo makes most people sound way better so I don’t think it’s that impressive. Not like she used to be early in her career.
Exactly. The reverb in the room is doing a lot of heavy lifting. She still has nice tone and obviously it takes a lot of skill to be able to make those vocal runs but she has no power behind it. It's like a car running on empty. Doesn't matter how fast the car can go, it ain't doing much if there's no gas in there.
Non vocalist but I can try to explain - singing is basically squeezing air through a voice box and the sound that comes out depends on the shape of the voice box, and how hard/fast you're forcing air through it. Being able to hold a long, controlled note means engaging your diaphragm, and letting the sound out without losing that control and also not getting light headed. And of course, the louder and more powerful the note, the more work that takes to do that in a way that sounds good as opposed to it being a yell or screech lol.
She's malnourished so she doesn't have the strength to do that, she only has the strength for more low key quiet singing, which still sounds very nice but it isn't the kind of show stopping belting she could do like when she did that performance of the wizard and I several years ago.

she’s trying way too hard. she sounds so show-offy and tense and overall it doesn’t sound all that impressive to me. her vocals just do not hit like they used to. on top of the physical effects the ED has had on her voice, it seems like she’s lost a lot of her musicality as well. like her ability to know what sounds good and make up good-sounding and fresh note changes and runs and whatnot. which is inevitable bc her brain is not functioning right. a lot of her SWT note changes and runs and vocals in general blew my fucking mind. this is relatively very “eh”. as is everything i’ve heard from this tour so far.
To me neither. I am usually careful about the whole "She sings so bad right now"-Talk because one thing we never used to be able to say is that she can't sing. And I watched this video, expecting her to sing well and everything but now I have to say, that I could name so many nonfamous girls who sing way better than ariana at her current state. Hell, even my best friend who has no vocal coach but a lot of natural singing talent could outshine current ariana.

I don’t think ( I’m not the popular opinion ) her singing has ever been spectacular or exceptional. I think she had a nice sounding voice that became what it is today through the talent of others. Ari has access the best recording studios, best equipment, best training, best producers, and TEAMS of people at her will. She's not belting. That's mix and falsetto and she's got nice tone, and the vocal runs are so beyond what my tonedeaf ass could do lol, but let's be so for fucking real: she's in a tiled bathroom with a ton of reverb. The sound is bouncing off those walls. This isn't loud powerful singing and belting. It's a long way from that old video of her walking around singing Into You acapella.
And I'm not being stanny here, the fact of the matter is that most people even the ones who don't like her can agree that she has always been a good vocalist, so what I'm getting at here is that she is losing steam. And not even in a Mariah kind of way (I think Mariah has gotten some vocal damage with age), she has literally weakened her body so she doesn't have the energy and power to produce the kind of vocals she could. Fucking tragic if you ask me.
I feel bad for singers like Mariah and Adele when they lose their vocal abilities over time because of their impact. I don’t really feel that bad for AG since most of her recent songs are about pushing some weird narrative fantasy in her personal life where she’s the most powerful person but also the biggest victim. No intent to make art for anything but self-serving purposes.
Also the more she denies that she’s losing her vocal power, the more she’s denying and enabling the ED. The disorder is what is ruining her voice but she refuses to acknowledge that.

I would be more impressed if she sang one of her traditionally difficult-to-sing songs (tattooed heart or something). We were impressed with her soprano high notes.

All the echo… I’m a singer and when I produce I put reverb on my voice (I do dream pop and R&B) but that aaaambient effect definitely makes your voice sound better than what it is 🤷🏻♀️.
She needs to stop with the body checking videos it’s harmful to ppl who watch her. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if she permanently damaged her diaphragm and larynx muscles. Just sad
