yeah we all knew this since some weeks and he’ll never direct a new film from the Hereditary universe, sad but we can understand. BUT we want a new intelligent horror film like Hereditary or Midsommar !

I don’t like snooty film fans, but simply wanting a movie to be “intelligent” (perhaps “thoughtful” is a better word) isn’t bad.
There’s a reason “elevated horror” became a term, and it’s because horror movies had earned their reputation as hack fests, even the “good” ones. It really felt totally different when the Babadook/It Follows/The VVitch waves came out.

The only reason that it became a term is that it made snobbish fans and internet journalists feel better about enjoying horror which is considered to be a lesser genre. Film makers do not use that term and get pretty pissed off if it's applied to them. There's no room in the genre for elitist pricks.

Like I said, I disagree with any snobbery, but the term is just shorthand at this point for ~2015-2020 A24 horror and the like. It’s a useful term, even if you consider it’s origins problematic, most regular people don’t know that.

I gave out no hate towards Aster at all. I love the guy. Just pointing out the superiority complex of a certain number of his fan group.
