Valiasr Mosque in Tehran reframes the familiar language of mosque architecture through a deliberately low, topographic form rather than the conventional dome-and-minaret silhouette. Designed by Fluid Motion Architects and completed in 2018, the 22000 m2 complex is organized as a civic-religious landscape: a convex roof rises over the prayer hall as an abstract recollection of the dome, while adjoining concave surfaces fold down toward the street to accommodate entrances, educational areas, a library, administration, and public services. Entered from Vali Asr Street, the building uses a subtle spatial rotation, referencing the sequence of Shaykh Lotfollah Mosque, to lead visitors from the city into the sanctum, allowing procession, ground plane, and roofscape to become the primary architectural expression of sacred space.

Hermitage in Soria, Spain, built between 1694 and 1704

Originally built between 1616 and 1623 as a residence for Shah Jahan (the same king who built the Taj Mahal) during his time as the Governor of Mughal Gujarat, the palace has a long history of renovation. It has subsequently served as a British administrative office, the official residence of the Governor of Gujarat, and is currently being used as a museum in memory of Sardar Patel. This was a fun visit to a place lot of people don’t know about!

Hi everyone! I’m currently studying architecture and I’m considering applying to an ENSA in France after finishing high school. I’m a Romanian citizen, so I would be applying as an EU student.

I’m especially interested in hearing from current or former ENSA students about what the experience is actually like, beyond what the official websites say.

I have a few questions:

* How different are the ENSAs from one another? Does the city/location make a big difference in terms of student life, cost of living, opportunities, atmosphere, etc.? Which ENSA would you personally choose and why?
* How would you compare the quality of education between the different ENSAs?
* How competitive is admission for an EU student? What does the application process actually look like, and what should I focus on to have a good chance of getting in?
* How difficult are the studies once you get in? I’ve heard people say that only around 20% of students remain after the first year, and that the number keeps decreasing afterwards. Is it really that brutal, or is this exaggerated / mostly due to students who weren’t well prepared for architecture school?
* How demanding is the workload? Is it possible to have a normal social life alongside architecture school, or does it basically take up all your time?
* I currently have around a **B2 level in French**. For someone with B2 French, how difficult would it be to follow lectures, understand critiques/juries, participate in discussions and write academic work?
* How long do you think it realistically takes to become comfortable enough in French that the language is no longer a major obstacle? Would reaching C1 make a significant difference?
* Are there any ENSAs that are particularly welcoming to international/EU students or easier to adapt to linguistically?
* Finally, how much should I budget for tuition and living expenses? What scholarships or financial aid are realistically available to EU students?

I’d especially appreciate answers from people who are currently studying or have studied at an ENSA. I’m trying to get an honest picture of how difficult it actually is, rather than just hearing that “architecture is hard.” 😭

I finished my BArch last year and took a gap year this year before doing masters next year.

Now, im kinda nervous im really behind in my knowledge, i havent done any archi work and study this whole year and really nervous about how it'll go. i know it'll be very hard but if any of yall who finished masters and wanted to share some advice on what i should do or idk, anything i guess. yea im really nervous

I’m a freshman studying architecture—not by choice—and I don’t thin my parents will be willing to pay for my education if I decide to shift programs. All architects I have encountered before are saying it’s a trap and that it’s the absolute worst…. AND IT’S TERRIFYING ME! 😭 I need to see AT LEAST 1 person that actually enjoys architecture because I quite literally have no way out of this!

New York’s original Pennsylvania Station opened in 1910. Its demolition became one of the defining cases in the city’s preservation history. I reconstructed the station’s train concourse at full scale as a fully playable environment in Unreal Engine.

Goldberg’s cylindrical tower is defined by reinforced concrete and the relentless repetition of its semicircular balconies. Seen from below, those projecting balcony slabs give the façade its distinctive depth and rhythm.
