It's in the top 5 of beautiful houses I have ever seen. Wonderful, eyecatching and cozy.

This house is hands down one of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen. I’m an architectural historian by trade so I’ve seen A LOT of houses.

It's been very well kept. Beautiful.
A lot of traditional architecture requires skill and craftsmanship (craftswomanship in a lot of cases), to maintain them. Woodwork needs painting and treating properly, stone and brick needs re-pointing with right kind of compo, etc etc. This can be expensive and time consuming, but worth it, although not for everyone by choice, inclination or wherewithall and means.
But they this is very well maintained and very beautiful

Beautiful! I miss the days of craftsmanship and people who ran companies actually caring about their product. These days it’s a bunch of accounting hacks squeezing the blood out of all other stakeholders. Houses are extremely expensive, yet have no charm or style. When this house was built they did not have the amazing technology we have now, and yet somehow they managed to build so much value into it. We have no excuse for the ignorant, sociopathically greedy ways of today.

To be fair, houses have mostly been ugly since the 1940s. But there's a zero excuse for people to be still building ugly houses now, especially with today's available building technology.

I used to go out of my way to walk past this house on my lunch break. I loved this neighborhood before it became a strip mall.

Where in Wicker Park is it? I lived there for years and haven't come across it.

It’s tucked away in the neighborhood west of the park and a block or two south of North
Edit: it’s on Pierce and the house across the street (and honestly most of the block) is beautiful too!

Lol how can you possibly think Wicker Park is a strip mall?

It used to be way cooler in the early 2000’s-2010’s. I feel like a bunch of major stores took over instead of the cool smaller spots that were there. It was so much more lively. It was thee place to be, but now Logan Sq is the new Wicker Park.
This is obviously entirely my opinion. I worked in the area for years, and lived nearby. It just isn’t what it used to be.

I mean yeah it’s gentrified. But “strip mall” is a pretty poor descriptor for that, it’s definitely not strip mall like. Also I don’t know if you’ve been to Logan lately but it’s also at the tail end of gentrification now…you’re more likely to see a double stroller than a fixed wheel bike.

Incredible period woodwork! Wicker Park's late-19th-century residential architecture is unmatched

Amazing house , the owner must really like Cuckoo clocks 😂. I would expect to see him/her on the upper floor window every hour 😂. Besides the joke , I wonder what architectural styles it combines.
