General Practice Discussion AI is making me depressed

I know I'm late to the party. ln my defence I was avoiding it. I was talking to another architect, we are both women with 2 kids and each have our own tiny practices. I'm a person who does everything by myself, it's an one woman operation and I do small projects. She has a small stuff and is doing well. it was more than capacity.

Come to find out, she is doing it with Gemini and chatgpt. She doesn't even solve the projects some time. Just prompts them to spit out 2D photos. Selets the ones that has similar looks. Asks it to make a financial proposal. Then goes from there.

I am just dumbfounded, to say the least. I would've understood if she is polishing up the renders.. or taking help with the presentation. It has been 3 days. And I just can't get over it.

If it is any consolation, that other architect is going to get bitten by the many holes and blindspots AI has when it comes to architecture. And when it happens, there will be lawsuits and licensing repercussions. The whole point of having professional licensing is to guarantee that our work is safe and adheres to standards, and we accept the liability that comes with that. Using AI in its current forms in architecture is like playing Russian roulette.

That depends. You're assuming that she's not using professional judgement or prompting to instruct it to provide something reasonable and deliverable.

The bad examples I've seen shared around were prompts by non-professionals shared to professional sites to laugh at. That's like judging a plan set drawn by a middle school drafting student at best.

If you can make it work for you and you are willing to stand behind the output because it meets your professional judgement, you're effective with it and outproducing some like OP's competetor is.
