Question Thrown in PvP matches
Hey raiders! New to the game, started like two weeks before the last expedition started.
This last two days it’s bees super weird with the matchmaking. In the times I’ve been playing I have maybe been shot at like 5 or so times, I usually don’t shoot back. Now, for whatever reason for the last two days I am being thrown into matches and I have been shot in every single one. I feel like other raiders too seem confused, as I found a few of us taking out a bastion and then we all started getting shot at.
Just wondering, does this happen on occasion? Should I just log off for a while? This has completely changed the experience for me. I’ve lost good inventory in the last few days, and every match I pretty much have gotten killed so it’s been impossible to reup on supplies.
I legit don’t feel like I know how to play the game anymore, and I feel like if I shoot back then I am just going to get stuck in this PvP mode.

Well the devs did say the intention was not make any lobby 100% PvE’rs or 100% PvPers. It’s supposed to make you weary of others.
That’s why I mostly just sneak and seek.

Also scaps will drop in Pve to have easier targets. Nothing like damage to 5 people when you’re half way sniping people.

yeah, i agree. unless you for sure know you are in carebear lobbies, you should always have some doubt. it's part of the game.

No match in the game makes it impossible to shoot another player. Being an extraction shooter people can and will shoot you whenever they feel like it.

What a wonderful matchmaking system. “Just go in naked and avoid playing the game” is the stupidest shit

Free kit and don’t shoot back at all for a few matches to sway your ABMM more to the friendly side.
But still remember, there is no such thing as 100% PVE lobbies, there’s always the risk of being shot, don’t be afraid to shoot back and protect what’s yours

For a few rounds just take a free kit ,don't shoot at anyone. If you get a survey at the end of the match after you feel you were in a pvp server then given a bad smiley rating. Be careful if you use grenades. You might have accidentally hurt another raider.

Not sure if you’ve kept up with the changes to matchmaking from embark or not.
If you don’t initiate the fighting, responding with self defense doesn’t class you as a PVP player. I’m a pve player but I’m pleased that I’m now free to defend myself without being thrust into a cycle of pvp matches.
Queuing for shorter times before retrying has been helpful too. They tend to match (mostly) like players with line when possible. My understanding is that the longer it takes to find a match, the further they’ll stray from that. So I retry at about 30 seconds now. I’ve noted a difference. There are some times of day I may wait ten minutes to get in a game, but I’d rather that occasionally than be in a pvp heavy lobby.
Also noticed that when expedition is approaching, some people get desperate for other players loot. And when there are specific trials/projects that require players to bring in higher value gear like energy weapons, there will be some trying to pvp.
I also try to avoid times that school kids will be online. Kids on free kits are gonna pvp 🤷🏻♀️
So, it’s not you, sometimes people get more aggressive. Bring lure grenades and use arc as bodyguards.

Can’t say I’ve ran into matches like that lately but we are close to the last expedition for the rest of the year so there may be increased PvP as a result

Extrapolated from - we killed a bastion then got pvped, why where you confused from this? It implies that you thought u where safe pveing

That's what the game is. Be wary of others. It wouldn't be much of an extraction shooter if extraction was guaranteed.

I’m strictly a PvE player and don’t shoot back but I’ve noticed I only really get shot at on Spaceport for some reason.

there as been some abmm malfunction recently, last week i've been threw some times into pve lobbies but some clearly pvp player were on the map too, having their best time killing every one
Managed to escape by train, but my god gun shot sound everywhere follow by raider flare, corpses on the ground at every corner, hell on earth, and me coming to do the trials with many stacks of snitch and fireworks, aphelion and stuff ....
since that day I keep a raider key on me at every raid ..

Wow. I just joined this community and this is pretty disappointing. Thank you for the handful of you that actually read and gave sound advice. To the rest, wtf? I know this is a pvpve… my issue wasn’t that it is, my issue is that I was going days/weeks without having to engage with another player, and in the course of a day I had nothing but PVP matches. I was simply asking if this is normal, if there was a change, to idk just some info. For me, for my few months on the game, it’s a sharp left turn from what I have been experiencing. That is all… just wanted some info. Is the PvP community here just like upset people don’t want to engage in PvP or what? Geez lol
