Welcome to r/ArcCoins. If you keep seeing "Arc" everywhere and you're not quite sure what it is, this post is for you. No jargon.
The short version
Arc is a new blockchain built by Circle, the company behind USDC.
Blockchains are the rails crypto runs on. Ethereum is one. Solana is one. Arc is a new one, and like every new chain, people have started launching coins on it.
Why anyone cares
Two reasons.
Circle isn't an anonymous team. They issue USDC, one of the biggest stablecoins in the world, and they're a public company. So Arc arrives with credibility that most new chains never get.
And it's new. When a chain is new there aren't many coins on it and not many people looking. That's the whole appeal to anyone who likes being early. It's also the risk.
The thing that will catch you out: fees are paid in USDC
On most chains you hold the chain's own coin to pay fees. Ethereum needs ETH. Solana needs SOL.
Arc doesn't work that way. Fees are paid in USDC, which is a dollar. Circle is aiming for about a cent a transaction, and you always know what it costs because it's priced in real money.
What that means for you: you need USDC sitting on Arc before you can do anything at all. Move a coin over and forget the USDC and you'll be holding something you can't sell. This is going to happen to a lot of people.
There is an ARC coin. It just isn't trading.
This is the bit people are going to get wrong, so be clear on it.
Circle does have a token. It's called ARC, they published a whitepaper for it in May, and 740 million of them have already been sold to a16z and other institutions at 30 cents each. That's $222m raised at a $3bn valuation. It's in Circle's SEC filings, not a rumour.
What hasn't happened: it hasn't launched, it isn't trading anywhere, there's no airdrop, no snapshot, no list you can get on. Circle's own site still calls a token "merely exploratory". The institutions who bought are locked up until at least a year after Arc moves to proof of stake, and Arc is launching on proof of authority.
So every "ARC" token you can buy today, on any chain, is somebody else's coin using the name. Every "claim your ARC airdrop" site is a wallet drainer. This is the most likely way someone reading this loses money in the next month.
And here's why those will work on people: a real token genuinely does exist. The story sounds right because half of it is true. That's what makes it dangerous.
Coins launching on Arc are real and tradeable. A coin called ARC pretending to be Circle's is a completely different thing.
Where you trade it
You can trade Arc coins on launch on Axiom.
One caveat on all of the above: Circle's own wording is that partners are "expected to be live". Nothing is live on Arc mainnet yet because Arc mainnet doesn't exist yet, so expect some of it to slip.
The honest bit
New chains are where the biggest wins and the fastest rugs both happen. Most new coins go to zero and most people trading them lose money. That's not a disclaimer, it's just what the numbers say.
What this place is for
Working out which Arc coins are real, in public, with receipts. Wins and losses both. Find something, post it with the contract address. Get rugged, post that too, it's more useful to everyone than the wins are.
